I have to say, this year's Who has left me cold. I like the actress who plays Clara but they ruined that character for me last year, though I'm trying to forget all that and give her a clean state this year. And I like Capaldi a lot but none of the episodes so far has caught my interest at all. The over-obtrusive background music annoys me more than ever. I wouldn't mind what they did with her at the end of last season so much if that was her send off, it would have been a little cold but certainly dramatic. To continue on after that though seems to kill that drama though and make her feel empty to me, and I agree that Capaldi is a fantastic actor and his personality as the Doctor is exactly what I've been looking for since the show restarted...but the stories he's been given have been only fair to middling. I think it's time for new writers.

Zygon-Clara with the missile launcher was a great scene...
I'm a bit worried that ratings are falling rather badly in the UK...that's why I want the fan favourites back a bit more often.

Surely the Maisie Williams guest spot gave them a ratings boost...?

Surely the Maisie Williams guest spot gave them a ratings boost...? Her episodes were pretty good, so I imagine she helped.

Man that two part conclusion was fantastic! I especially loved the use of the parable of the wise Shepard boy, that's one of my favorite stories and it fit perfectly with the Doctor.

Well, not 'best news ever' (that would be the show returning in 2005), but some new blood and fresh ideas will certainly be welcome. And maybe this means I won't have to put with with bloody River Song any more!

I haven't seen anything since Zygon-Clara was about to torpedo a plane.
What have I missed? I can catch up on-line...

The only time I could even remotely tolerate her was the Science in the Library/Forest of the Dead 2-parter. Absolutely loved the Vashta Nerada. Creepy as hell.

But in order to make Moffitt's last year feel special, the BBC is pushing it back to 2017. The only new Who we'll get this year is the Xmas special. And Capaldi is apparently talking about leaving, too. Sure, it gives the new show-runner a clean slate (and it's the guy who did Broadchurch, which I liked a lot). But I like Capaldi's Doctor, dammit.

They averted a war with the Zygons with a very cool speech from Capaldi, a bit of a stab at a found footage horror story set on a space station, the return of Maisie Williams character, the "death" of Clara and the Doctor's return to Galifry(which was one of my favorite episodes ever).

My ten-year-old daughter is devastated that there will be no new episodes until 2017, and she is also pretty upset that Peter Capaldi may be leaving after next season. I'm not happy about either, but she's taking this really hard, although she is excited because she wants to use this year to get caught up on the 9th and 10th Doctors (Matt Smith was her first, but she's interested in going back) and to watch some of the old Tom Baker episodes we recorded a few months ago.

I'm getting caught up on Matt Smith's era, as I started new Who by stumbling on to Capaldi's first season. I'm three episodes into Smith's second season. I like the dynamic with Amy and Rory simultaneously as Companions. I think a strength of Doctor Who is mixing things up. So much of new Who is The Doctor plus a single female Companion, so it's refreshing to see something different.
