I thought it they changed their mind about him leaving.. that's exciting! My bad. He's leaving at the end of 2017, when Chris Chinbal will take over. Ug, you gave me hope for a moment. Still the trailer looked good so I'll hold out hope.

Looks like Peter Capaldi announced today he will be leaving the role of the Doctor after the current (10th) season. No official word as to who the next Doctor will be. One interesting rumor I heard though is they may go with a female Doctor and Hayley Atwell (of Agent Carter fame) is interested in the role.

The female Doctor rumour has been circulated every time they've changed Doctors since Tom Baker. I'd take it with a grain of salt.

If Steven Moffat had stayed on my money would have been on a female Doctor, after Missy, but with Chibnall at the helm I think it is less likely. Although this subject does crop up every time an actor leaves the role... it will surely happen one day though.

I really, really hope they cast someone over forty again, not another pretty boy like David Tennant. Maybe Don Warrington or Ben Miller.

Younger sells and draws new and young viewers which is what BBC wants. What "sells" shouldn't matter to the BBC, the corporation does not exist to make a profit, and its charter requires it to "inform, educate and entertain" the whole of the British public, who fund it through the television licence fee.

Today is Christopher Eccleston's birthday! However, having thought it over, I have decided to decline to take part in any celebration of the event...

Patrick Troughton, the second Doctor, would have been 97 today...if he hadn't died in 1987. A great actor, still much missed.

Man I'm really liking the first episode! Reminds me of "Rose" which is one of my all time favorite episodes.

I was impresed. I like the new girl, it made a change that for once, the alien threat turned out to actually not be a villain as such, and I'm intrigued by both the vault and whatever's up with Nardole. Also, really appreciated the nods to the past with Susan's photo, the vintage sonic screwdrivers and the return of the Movellans after a mere 38 years!

Current gossip is that actor Kris Marshall (perhaps best known as DCI Humphrey Goodman in Death in Paradise) is the front runner to become the next Doctor. So it's possible the next Doctor might very well be ginger.

Watched "The Pilot" this weekend and thought it was a solid opener. I like Bill well enough. Matt Lucas wasn't as annoying as I'd expected.
Lots of great lines.
Bill: They say you've been teaching here for fifty years, and I thought-- Doctor: "He doesn't look old enough." Bill: No, it-- *look of disappointment on the Doctor's face*
Bill asking why TARDIS is abbreviated in English and the Doctor commenting that no one's ever questioned that before.
The Doctor and friend waiting to see how long it will take Bill to comment about the interior size of the TARDIS.
