As for the new Doctor, I don't see how it'll work but maybe they'll surprise me. The regeneration thing helps, but we've seen the Doctor as a boy or young Time Lord on his home planet in flashbacks, haven't we? However, maybe they'll come up with some way to make it convincing. I never got the whole Missy/Master thing, I admit: they just seem like two separate characters to me, even though I know they're meant to be the same person. My biggest problem with Missy was that she was super-annoying, though she improved in further appearances and in the latest season I am actually starting to kind of, sort of even like her a little. The way I see the Master's sex change is... he always had a thing for disguises, even going so far as to dress up when no one was looking... so to me this just takes it one step further, a more extreme "disguise", for a madman.

I'm excited for this change, it's long overdue. I'm interested in seeing how Chibnall and Whittaker approach this gender switch and what issues or themes they may tackle in exploring it. My only concern is that now expectations are going to sky-rocket possibly to a point where there's no way for the show (or the actress) to achieve or surmount them.
As for Moffatt's leaving, I did enjoy his run for the most part. He brought elements and ideas to the show that highlights what life and love may be like for a time-traveler. His addition of River Song to the mythos is a wonderful achievement. In fact, I hate, hate, hate that I could not take any time off this past weekend to go see Alex Kingston at the Raleigh SuperCon.

If nothing else Michelle Gomez's performance as Missy this season has me genuinely curious what an evil version of Mary Poppins would be like if it was done as a serious horror movie.

I actually loved Missy, to the point that I almost wish they had saved the actress to actually play the Doctor.

I actually loved Missy, to the point that I almost wish they had saved the actress to actually play the Doctor. Especially since Gomez has done some of the most SJW-aggravating/would be banned on Sea Bee Are for performing the most anti sjw black-comedy clips EVER.

as many have said here, I loved the Capaldi 'singular' eps, such as the Mummy on the Cosmic Train. Which had no sjw garbage attached. I also love all 'Bill' eps, which also have no sjw garbage attached. the future Jodie-as-the-Doctor episodes will shine if they have no sjw garbage attached, but will suck if they rely on such mamby-pamby garbage. Which would be the opposite of the finesse the BBC showed in the depiction of the Doctor having had a hot-and-heavy relationship with Harkness (of which I approve of heartily, in fact, it should have been a soon-off mini-series, IMO) If Jodie as the Doctor is merely going to be a new sjw iteriation of 'let's turn the Silurians into a bad deli sandwich of Indigo Girls and Lost Girl', versus the wondorous Hive Queen of the Ice Warriors... GARBAGE.

My biggest problem with Missy was that she was super-annoying, I never saw her as annoying, I saw her as someone who had been f--'d over by 'the rules' [of Gallifrey] and thus said 'why bother?' RE social conventions of behaviour . Rather like Germaine Greer suffering dips--t sjw nonsense.

The Mary Poppins thing, her dialogue...ugh. Fortunately they toned it down considerably when she returned. I'm not completely caught up with the newest episodes yet, but what I've seen so far is a vast improvement.

I actually loved Missy, to the point that I almost wish they had saved the actress to actually play the Doctor. Michelle Gomez is also in a very funny British sitcom called Green Wing co-starring another incredibly funny lady Tamsin Greig who is currently in another funny series on Showtime called Episodes. Both of which are worth checking out.

BBC released a trailer for the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas Special 2017 on SDCC. The episode is titled "Twice Upon a Time".
The CGI transition from Hartnell to Bradley is a little weird looking but other wise this looks interesting.

i have faith in what Jody will do if left alone to be the best actress she can be, with the role.
versus what 'the beebs' might enforce upon her ala 'agendas' etc.
any true feminist or matriarchist (i'm talkin' to you, beebs) will give her the same thespian leeway and freedoms De Niro had in 'taxi driver'.
if Jody does not receive this EQUAL creative freedom, any complaints against her future performance will be meaningless, and BANAL.
