This classic panel references Fred Astaire , a then modern day entertainer. I don't think that comics uses celebrity names anymore in their books. What other conventions have gone the way of the Dinosaur?

Superheroes actually stopping crimes from being committed by criminals just out for financial gain? When was the last time a supervillain actually tried to rob a bank?

The use of real current President's unless it is for publicity. Oh look we have a black President so we can show him without saying his name and everyone believes we are cool for using him. Now it is all fictional President's. Luthor as President? Really? But maybe this is where reality meets fiction because now we have Trump running? Used to be comic books reflected life now life reflects comic books?

Within the team books if some hero was otherwise preoccupied in their own series story line then it would be mentioned or referred to by someone on the team or by the editor directing you to check out that person's solo comic.

From this panel above alone
- Third Party Narrators ("As fate draws the strands of her web...") - Exclamation points in place of periods (and no way would a writer get away with a double question mark today) - Bolding (though it's used correctly here, sometimes the emphasized words were questionable at best. "You haven't taken me dancing in weeks, Henry Pym!")

Letter columns A number of Marvel's titles still have letter columns.

I remember a friend trying to sell me on the Ultimates by telling me Hulk ate Freddie Prince (?) in the story. I was like lol, whose that?

Secret ID's seem to be a thing of the past except for a few select heroes.

Ads featuring the characters (especially subscription ads and Hostess ads!) Oh no, those are still around. Too much IMHO. We recently had some terrible (Old Spice? I think) aftershave ads with Luke Cage fighting the Absorbing Man for instance. Superheroes actually stopping crimes from being committed by criminals just out for financial gain? When was the last time a supervillain actually tried to rob a bank? That one is still there, though not as often as before. The main plot in Superior Foes of Spider-Man for instance was the theft of a valuable painting.
