Last year, the Cube did "Comic Book Movies Week," where we listed our favorite live-action movies based on a comic book property (so, for example, TMNT 2007 didnt count because it was animated; Transformers don't count because they were toys first, etc). I've amended my list in light of the five new movies since, and here it is. What are your favorite movies? What do you look for?

I haven't seen any of the Superman movies, the third Dark Knight or any post-Avengers Marvel except Guardians of the Galaxy.
My top eight: 6-8. the first three X-films in no order 5. Orgins: Wolverine 4. Avengers 3. Captain America 2 First Class 1. Guardians of the Galaxy
I'm pretty much looking for mutants or space hijinks I guess.

Until the Thor/Cap combo in 2011, it was harder for me the bigger I was a fan of the character. Also, Batman Returns would have been on my list two years ago. Had fond memories of it, but now I can't see it without just seeing Burton's fingerprints. Too bad.
I need to see the Rocketeer and the Mask again, too.

For straight up superhero comics-based movies, Cutie Honey and The Crow are possibly my tops. Avengers comes pretty close.
In general, my favorite comics-based movies aren't superheroes, though, or primarily superheroes, and my favorite superhero movies aren't based on any particular comics.

My #1 will probably always be Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. Brilliant characterization and such complexity behind each face -- especially the Joker's.

My favorite comic book movie in general is Sin City.
Limited to superheroes it's definitely The Dark Knight Returns. If it's live action only then Batman Begins, both Captain America movies, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man and Batman 89.

During Halftime of the National College Championship Game is a Trailer for Avengers Movie - Age of Ultron that will be showing for the first time.
I just happen to glance at the TV during the halftime of the Rose Bowl Game between Oregon and Florida State.
