This is my personal favourite of all the many costumes worn by Hawkman, from the 1970s All-Star Comics run. I just think the metal helmet looks really dynamic. On the other hand, this one from the early 90s just looks like it's being used to hold his stomach in (which it may well be)...

Better? You think the black costume is better than the original red & blues? Wow...I mean, just...wow. There's no accounting for taste, I guess. I mean, I really like the alien costume too but, no way would I say it was better than the original. It's far more spider-like, better emphasizes the eyes, and it's pretty much the strongest color contrast possible. Enigmatic, mysterious, striking. I gotta agree with shax too. Yeah there are brightly colored spiders in nature. But the symbiote costume is like the other 80% of spiders, creepy crawlers whose bland coloring and menacing eyes give you nightmares. Even if spiders in of themselves are not manevolent, many of their colorings and looks do. And I think I like a somewhat scary Spider-man.

As for being more "spider-like", errmmm...opadometa fastigiata and the jumping spider would both like a word with you... Not all spider's are black, you know! I would also say that the eyes are much more striking on the original costume, with the pure white ringed with black -- especially the way that later artists like Todd McFarlane drew Spidey. I don't know, for my money, the red & blue is just an untouchable classic. I admit that the black costume is more menacing, but it's also much more like loads of other heroes in that respect, from Batman on downwards. The red & blue is still mysterious, by dint of covering Peter Parker's face, and I always liked that the manner in which Spidey crawls across ceilings and up walls is, in and of itself, quite creepy -- especially the way Steve Ditko used to drew him.

Opadometa fastigiata seems to have been heavily inspired by the Punisher when designing his look.

Donna Troy has had her share of costumes. My favorite being the Nick Cardy redesign that debuted in 1969. My least favorite, the 1989 Troia look. That costume had way too much going on.

wait. . 3 pages in and no one has brought up Power Girl? (who's had some TRULY awful costumes). tho I like the original, I have to admit, I consider the "boob window" version the classic look, and prefer that version.

Ha, yes! Perez's Troia design had such a mishmash of elements. Very awkward and clumsy looking costume. I agree, both the Huntress's and Power Girl's original, classic looks are the best for me.

Ill give you that. It did kind of blend Spiderman in with a lot of other superheroes' costume choices. I just really like it visually. It just clicks like someone liking Cadillac over Lincoln from an ascetic point of view. But if the wresting costume origin is accurate in the comics it makes sense as wresting is over the top flamboyant. Has Spiderwoman had any other costumes? I've only really read her in Force Works because I liked the symbiote costume inspired costume she wears. It's why I bought my first Force Works book: imgur.com/a/mMnQ8

It is, but... although we see Peter trying his hand at wrestling in Amazing Fantasy #15, before he becomes Spider-Man, he's not wearing his Spidey suit. He's just in his trousers, shirt and shoes, with a web mask on. So, he didn't design the red & blue suit to be a flamboyant wrestler's costume in the comics.
