Baked
1. lemon cheesecake 2. strawberry cheesecake
and Fruitcake with rum, and without rum is next.
If I never got a compound fracture in my arm when I was younger, might have never wandered into the kitchen to try my hands on things.

Those all sound fantastic! My wife is making sticky toffee pudding for Christmas dessert this year. I had it at least three times when we were in Wales last summer and I have been craving it ever since, so I was excited when she said that is what she'd picked to make this year.

Hi, gang! I know the ever-discrete shax hinted at the reason for my recent absence, but now that I'm back, I thought I'd give you the straight skinny. A week ago last Tuesday, I was rushed to the emergency room, where I came uncomfortably close to bleeding to death. I won't bore you with all the gorey details, but the upshot was that a diverticulode (sp?) on the outer wall of my colon had ruptured, causing my blood pressure to drop precipitously. I was hospitalized for four days, during which I was given a blood transfusion and an emergency colonoscopy. I'm okay now, just dog tired and will probably remain so for another week. I'll be picking up the slack on Classic Comics Christmas tomorrow, but it may be a few more days before I add my entries to Days One through Six. Many thanks to shax for carrying the extra load!
Cei-U! I summon the interrupted festivities!

Oh my God, Kurt, that's terrible!
My best Christmas gift this year will doubtless be knowing that you pulled through, but please don't do this again!
Don't be a tough Sgt. Fury type, now... Take all the time required to get better!

Jesus H. Cripes, Kurt! What a crappy thing to have happen anytime, but this week?
So sorry to hear, but glad you're on the mend. Looking forward to seeing your picks when you're back on your feed. But take your time!!

I'm glad you're OK now, Kurt! That must have been scary.
Is it too late to know whether the transfusion gave you any superpowers?
IIRC, Richard Nixon had diverticulitis. Or, as Archie Bunker said in one episode, "Diverticulitis? Ain't that what the Democrats gave Nixon?"
edit - I misremembered, it was phlebitis that Nixon had.

Also, it's really nice to have friends sometimes. A friend of mind was nice enough to take a gander at my laptop and fixed the internet issue that I had been having (apparently the internet card had gotten jostled and the laptop had an internal boot error). Yay for not having to pay hundreds of dollars for a guy in a polo shirt to look at it for five minutes!

Lord above has his eyes upon you Kurt! Glad to have you back for the festivities. Take all the time you require. Health and strong recovery all occur on their own schedule. Take it slow, easy, sipping some egg nog & nibbling upon gingerbread cookies!
