Well you are handsome pip, and with the upbringing that most men had our age it might take alcoholic inebriation for a heterosexual man to do such. Shouldn't be, but it is here in the states anyway.

As shocking as it seems to think about, 2016 will be my 20th high school reunion. Jeez I shouldn't be this old. I'd never go. I didn't have a good experience. It's a Christian private school and I'm now a card-carrying atheist, so I don't think it would be a good mix. I was always an agnostic (though I didn't realize it in my younger days of course) and my parents wanted me to go given the relative safety of the environment and better teaching. Unfortunately, my interests were always history and science, and as you might expect, faith-based schooling is severely lacking in those two areas for the most part. You certainly aren't going to get many unbiased facts. I also went to a private Christian school, but we didn't have any issues that I remember with weird science or history. I wasn't interested much in science anyway, so I might have missed it, but our history teacher was really good. We only got the weird alternate history stuff in Bible class. What denomination was your school, if you don't mind me asking? Yeah, I don't think religious interference in science and history classes is something to be expected at a religiously-affiliated high school. It must vary based on the denomination, politics, and where the school is located. I went to a Catholic high school in New Jersey. We were taught evolution as a normal, uncontroversial part of biology class. When I was in high school, it never would have occurred to me that high schools in other parts of the country would suppress part of science or history based on religious demands.

I haven't either. My wife and I seem to have brought something back from taking turns spending the week in the hospital with my son. Nasal congestion, sore throat, coughing, fever and headache. Lots of OJ, Sprite, cough drops and soup aside from medicine. At least it's just now my first time sick this year. Hope you both feel better soon.

Finally finished compiling all the available raw data on the major Golden Age publishers' output for 1940-49. Now it's on to the minor publishers (i.e., those producing fewer than 50 individual issues). It's a looooong list. Sigh.
Cei-U! I summon the short-term tedium with long-term benefits!

I instead had the lady he was hitting on on the other side of the table give me a ride home. She and I were the only sober ones in that cluster and we were getting weirded out.

I'm going to a reunion next Friday and Saturday. Last year was our 35 anniversary. People drink but I didn't really see anyone go too far and become a nuisance, last year. It always stuck me how you keep a picture in your head of how your classmates look and it's a bit jarring to see the changes.

We had everything from "Dorian Gray" types to "why did Joe send his dad to the reunion?"

I think I'm gonna cull around a third of my comic collection this week. My collection is hardly huge compared to some folks here, but I still have around 3,000 books. If I can get that down to a more manageable 2,000 or even 2,200, I'll be happy. Space is obviously one motovator, but there's a lot of stuff in my long-boxes that I enjoyed when I bought it, but which I'm not likely to ever read again. That's the stuff that I need to be ruthless about and get rid off. I'll probably eBay them and use the money from the sales to buy other comics/LPs/CDs/clothes/guitars etc that I want. The culling process is gonna be brutal though.

At the moment I'm thinking probably mostly 2000s era Marvel stuff...lots of Secret Invasion spin-offs, New Avengers issues, Seige stuff etc. The Legend of Wonder Woman mini-series, some Sherlock Holmes-related comics and lots of issues of Dark Horse's Star Wars: Republic series (and associated one-shots). Happy to PM you a list of everything I decide to get shot of, if you want?

An electrician spent the whole day here yesterday and will come back today.
On the plus side, my electrical wiring is no longer a serious fire hazard. The question will be if the cost of fixing it is really more than the expected loss in this hypothetical fire.
I am also less likely to fall down the stairs thanks to working switches at the top and bottom of the stairs which can control the state of the light under all circumstances.

When I get around to organizing my collection one day, I'll be selling some as well. I've been buying digital duplicates and will be selling my paper copies of some stuff eventually as well. Can't wait to have the whole thing organized, but first I need to clean out my storage unit.

I have about 40 boxes of stuff and I suspect that there are 10 boxes I'm probably never going to read again. So that means I have to continue to lift them throughout the years in order to get to other boxes. I can see the advantages to going digital.

I'll never go completely digital cause some of this stuff will never appear there I think.
