Yesterday I received the latest greatest Spider-Man on the market. Mike Maihack's third Mighty Marvel Team-Up graphic novel came out. Maihack's a great writer and a truly brilliant artist. His own creation, Cleopatra in Space, is an award winning series turned animated program. In this volume, Spider-Man goes into space to return Silver Surfer's surfboard and cosmic chaos ensues. It's the perfect all ages book. I can't recommend his books enough.

Since the topic of DC's 'compact comics' came up recently in the News, notes, announcements, new series etc. thread, I should note that I ordered the Far Sector book, which just arrived in the mail today: I've been looking out for the normal-sized tpb, but the cheapest copy I could find online is always about twice as much as what I paid for this one - and it's a really nice-looking book (as noted, I really liked digest-sized books).

I haven't actually seen those in real life, just in catalogues and discussed here, are they manga-sized? Or something in between that and standard?

I have gotten Far Sector, All Star Superman and Hush already in that format, and have the Catwoman and Gotham City Sirens volumes on order. I love this format. Easy to read and handle, great for travel if you want to take something to read for you, and you can't beat the price. wildfire2099 They are the same size (height/width) as the Mighty Marvel Masterworks, just more pages at a lower MSRP. It's a common size in the YA OGN market as well. Edit to add: And apparently they are selling like gangbusters. Several retailers are having trouble keeping them in stock, and they seem to be moving briskly in the book market outside the direct market as well. -M

I see that seems like it would be pretty good. So far they have only come out with things I already have or have no interest in, but I'm sure they'll hit eventually for me.

I've been loving the new DC Compact Series! Saw they announced Kingdom Come is being reprinted in this style as well! It goes easy on my shelf space as well! I think I'm behind on the two August releases.

Got this today It supposed to be Robs last work for Marvel. It's his decision. Oh that looks awesome, especially love seeing Crystar show up! I definitely need to pick this up. Sad to hear that's it for Rob with Marvel, but honestly it's not remotely the same Marvel as his classic years anymore. Hope he stays active otherwise.

I usually don't purchase modern books, let alone variants, but I had to get this amazing Vampirella issue/cover.
