Season 2 Ep 1: WOW! With the first season done the actors/writers have settled into their roles. And I have to say this episode was the best so far. So much happened. A new status quo for Cheryl. Hiram Lodge is home. Archie's world is turned upside down... and that cliffhanger ending! That ending!!!! Good grief!! No doubt we are in for heck of a season!! I loved Cheryl going all Baby Jane on her mom, haha! Nice to see Archie's pals all rally in his time of need. I agree. I did not see that ending coming! Cheryl is crazy! I bet the actress has a blast playing the role. And yes the writers have captured the dynamics well between the Archie quartet.

I just saw this show off of my DVR and right now ... 2nd Season is off for a great start and the writing is getting better and with more twists and turns. I think that Producers of the show did a great job of hiring Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom and she just perfect for the job. I loved her craziness, spunk, and most importantly she has the right (sex) appeal to shine on Riverdale. I can tell that the actors on that show developed great chemistry among each other that was evidence in the last night show. Perfect from start to finish and that's made this show end on a high note. Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom

Another great (and shocking) episode last night! It was nice to see Betty rallying the town to save Pop's restaurant. Very creepy scenes at Cheryl's house with her mom. Looks like Jughead may have gotten himself into a mess with lawyer. More of the Lodges up to no good. And poor Archie-he is going to worry himself to death. Nice to see Reggie get more screen time. And that ending--Good grief!!

Season 2 Episode 2:
Poor Archie. Yay Betty getting one over on Cheryl. Liked seeing more of Reggie but not in that role. Loved seeing Midge & Moose...
Hate the Lodges. Feel bad for Veronica. Love the Black Hood reference.
Loved the old saving Pop's trope from the comics played out (with a dark twist).
And loved/hated the ending.

Yes, while I was happy to see more Reggie I was not happy with the activities they have him involved in. I did like the Jingle Jangle reference as well as the Black Hood. That was awesome seeing Betty take charge with Cheryl! Lots of Easter eggs last night! This is the one CW show I cannot wait for week to week.

Easter eggs are intentional inside jokes or hidden messages placed into movies or TV shows that only the hardcore fans would get. An example in Riverdale was FP reading an issue of Pep Comics (one of the first Archie/MLJ comics) while in jail. Or the reference to the Black Hood (an Archie superhero title).

I've tried, really tried, but I just can't get into this show at all. I'm four episodes into Season One and it just feels flat to me. Part of it is that I have never read any Archie comics, so I have no nostalgia for the property, and the Easter eggs are lost on me.
However, the bigger problems for it growing on me are:
1. I have only found two semi-regular characters I actually like, those being Fred Andrews and Sheriff Keller. Everyone else is horrible in some form or fashion, especially Betty's mom and Cheryl. 2. As for the main HS kids, none of them looks, talks, or acts like a HS kid. Granted, I get that this is TV and they are using older actors to get around things like child labor requirements as well as having them be involved in more mature situations, but it's weird to see "teenagers" behaving that way. I've spent enough time around the HS kids at my church, and not one of them even remotely would fit into this environment. 3. I don't understand where Riverdale is or what kind of town it is supposed to be. Is it designed to represent "small town USA" or is it the suburb of a bigger city? I'm asking because I spent time student teaching in a rural small town (each graduating class had about 70 kids), and none of the "rich kids" like Cheryl walked around wearing high fashion from New York. They were more likely to drive a cute car and own a horse than carry a $500 designer handbag; they also were more likely to be passively indifferent to their lesser classmates rather than be nasty and cruel. 4. Yes, we get it, Kevin is gay, and that's fine. However, he's not a character, he's a stereotype, and it's annoying that they can't give him more to do (or haven't in the first four episodes) other than to spout catty little snark and comment either on the girls' fashions or every male character he encounters. 5. I liked Betty for the first couple of episodes, but the whole thing in the hot tub with the jock that she almost drowned while going all split personality as her sister was too much. Following that up with her breaking into Miss Grundy's car, then doing her "interview" of Miss Grundy, was nothing that any HS student in reality would do. How many HS sophomores know how to use a Slim Jim to open a car door and then pick a lockbox with a hairpin, as well as having the chutzpah to approach a teacher and ask her all kinds of personal questions about her previous teaching positions and educational background?
I think the biggest issue I have is that this show wants to be in the "real world", but it pushes the boundaries of suspending belief. When I watch a show like Supernatural, I know that it is supposed to be a fantasy, but the sad thing is, Dean Winchester is more realistic than any character in Riverdale (at least the teens, as I find Fred Andrews very realistic as a single dad running a business and trying to raise a kid). He has both mommy and daddy issues and he feels an overwhelming sense of obligation to protect his younger brother, and in order to deal with those matters, he eats poorly, drinks too much, and sleeps with anything in a skirt, yet somehow, even considering all of the demons, angels, God, Lucifer, and other things that go bump in the night that he deals with, that seems far more true to me than a boy who is sleeping with his music teacher, a girl who may or may not be crazy because of her older sister's problems, a rich girl transplanted from the big city who instantly wants to be friends with said possibly-crazy girl, another rich girl who vacillates between bitch queen and wanting to be friends with the people she terrorizes, and a kid who lives in an old drive-in and is writing a novel at the age of 15/16.
Sadly, I think Riverdale may just not be for me.

I enjoyed last night's episode...although it was a bit out there. I don't believe a school would endorse Archie's Red Circle Club (liability issues). I did like seeing Archie and Reggie having scenes together. Mr. Lodge is definitely up to no good. Good to see Ethel again. Wasn't interested in Kevin's story, although I liked the scene of him and Moose talking. Jughead and Toni---I wonder if she will throw a wrench into the Betty/Jughead relationship. I also thought it was cool how Archie came up with the Red Circle idea.

Season 2 Episode 3:
Set up the relationship between Hiram & Archie. Kevin gets some screen time & becomes less of a one dimensional character. More Reggie (liked him better this episode). Liked the Red Circle. Seeing a little more of other characters like Ethel & Dilton. Happy that not every Black Hood shooting ends with someone dying.
Really hating the dysfunction between the Lodges. Liked Jughead's "new" role at at a "new" school. Liked Weatherbee supporting Archie.
