Citing creative differences with the film's star Ryan Reynolds, Tim Miller has left the Fox sequel. Hollywood Reporter articleFox seems to be having trouble with directors on X0spinoff projects lately (with Gambit leading the way in directors churned through in production). Miller deserves alot of the credit for getting Deadpool off the ground (it's rumored he was the one who leaked the test footage to the net that proved the tipping point when Fox was ready to abandon the project leading to it getting made) and was the guiding voice in wrangling Reynolds and the writers to be on the same page for the project. Reynolds seems to be taking more control of the sequel pushing the others who helped the first movie be successful out. We'll see how it plays out. -M

Meh
Seems like the only stuff he's really done outside of Deadpool is creating the title sequences for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Thor: The Dark World.
Also, Reynolds' performance is what made Deadpool such a fun experience. It was about as shallow as it gets in the plot and character development department.
Anywho, we'll see how it goes.

P.S.
We NEED Ron Perlman as Cable
This seems like such a spot-on, ideal casting that I have no idea why it hasn't been finalized yet. Even Perlman himself has been campaigning for the part.
The resemblance is uncanny and Perlman already has experience playing the tough, wisecracking smartass that would make a great pairing with Reynolds.

If he was cast I'd probably watch it, I didn't care too much for Deadpool as I felt the funny bits didn't make the rest worth while but I love Pearlman so I'd check it out just for him.

Apparently Miller wanted Kyle Chandler for Cable, which would be odd casting. (I looked him up on IMDB and only knew him from Early Edition)

Agreed he would be perfect... if he were maybe 15 Years younger or so : (

Meh Seems like the only stuff he's really done outside of Deadpool is creating the title sequences for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Thor: The Dark World. Not that it means anything, but those sequences were great... While Reynolds, amusing as he was in Deadpool, was also in Green Lantern. I am a little bemused by these "creative differences" about films that are very light entertainment... Come on guys, it's Deadpool 2... not Bride of Citizen Kane. Are you actors and directors really dealing with anything more serious than a pissing contest?

I'm sorry to hear this. I liked the first one a lot and I was excited when it was announced that Miller was returning for the sequel. Oh well. My dream replacements would be the team of Anouk Whissell, François Simard, Yoann-Karl Whissell from last year's Turbo Kid. Their sense of humor and ability to blend heart with ultra gore would be a great fit for Wade Wilson's world

I also saw some suggestions for Stephen Lang as Cable, which could also work. (Plus added bonus of an actor having the same name as another X-character.. Though that one is spelled differently maybe?).
(Edit: my favourite suggestion was by somebody on the Penny Arcade forums, who suggested casting several different people as Cable and changing the actor everytime the timeline changed).

Are you actors and directors really dealing with anything more serious than a pissing contest? Whether it's light or heavy entertainment, the project could take up to a year of a director's time between pre-planning, filming, editing and promotional tours and interviews. Plus it's on his permanent resume and reflects on the what-have-you-done-for-us-lately mentality. It's damn important for a director
