Batman Episode (61) … Second Season – The Penguin's NestOriginal Air Date - December 7, 1966 Major Villain - Burgess Meredith as The Penguin Important Guest StarsThere are 4 bit players and they all have roles to play and only moll that the Penguin had was Grace Gaynor who played Chickadee. My Thoughts about the ShowIt's all started out with Chief O'Hara, Commissioner Gordon, Bruce Wayne, and Dick Grayson that taking Aunt Harriet out for town at a fancy restaurant with the Penguin as the new owner that's ask his patrons to write their order on a piece of paper and proceed to give the establishment what they want. Then, later on into the program ... the Penguin got a hold of Aunt Harriet's bracelet and proceed to steal until Chief O'Hara stopped him on his track and all the mess associated with it. So, the Penguin smacked the Commissioner with a pie that he demanded to be arrested and then after a hearty discussion they all agreed that the Commissioner to contact Batman and demanded his appearance at the Restaurant and let Batman decides what to do next. With some fancy footwork Bruce advised Alfred to make an adjustment to the phone lines so that Bruce can talk like Batman in the phone booth next to Gordon. Then, the Dynamic Duo arrives in time ... they quickly determine that Penguin, for some reason, wants to be back behind bars. The Dynamic Duo, thus, decide not to haul Penguin off in the patty wagon and decided to investigate further. After leaving, though, our heroes decide to climb up the side of the building so they can spy on Penguin from a window. The Penguin stages the murder of one of his henchmen (shoots blanks) in another attempt to get locked up. Batman and Robin do haul him off to prison of which he desperately (Batman and Robin do not know this) wants. While climbing up the wall, they met Lurch from the Addams Family and for him to appear on Batman - he is the third of the Addams Family appears on the show. But, Batman was concerned about Penguin's desires to go back to Prison and decided to hold him at a City Jail instead. Back at the Batcave, the Caped Crusaders determine that Penguin’s plot involves getting back to his reserved cell at the state pen, which happens to be next to the cell of an expert forger, Ballpoint Baxter. Penguin must be seeking to forge checks in the names of Gotham City's wealthiest citizens. What a great plan it's was and more melee arise as Chickadee pointed a gun at Chief O'Hara and therefore the Penguin escapes and trapped the Chief inside the Box. Pretty simple and elaborate plan to get back to prison. Grace Gaynor as Chickadee ... she was very good in this show and I was pleasantly surprised how well she performed and gave the show balance and great comedy too. BatsA very worthy show that's builds up the excitement with a great blend of comedy, drama, and suspense. Nicely done and I've enjoyed watching it yesterday and needed a day to think about this review so that I can get this done. I should have the next review by Tuesday.

Lurch from the Addams Family was interesting when I saw it recently and it also foreshadows another actor from that series that appears as a Batman villain in a later episode. I won't mention who as not to spoil it.

Batman Episode (62) … Second Season – The Bird's Last JestOriginal Air Date - December 8, 1966 Major Villain - Burgess Meredith as The Penguin Important Guest StarsThere are 4 bit players and they all have roles to play and only moll that the Penguin had was Grace Gaynor who played Chickadee. My Thoughts about the ShowFirst of all, this show started out with the most campiest of all scenes of where our Caped Crusaders under the Bat Shield facing an ambush of bullets flying around and having said that it's started out with a BANG and this scene of where Batman actually been counting the bullets and said to Robin, they are out of bullets! Then, they recovered the Chief, and arrested all the members of the Penguin's rotten gang and hauled them to Jail awaiting a trial ... that later on in this review. That scene reminded me of Superman using Super Mathematics using his calculating powers to determine the exact count of the beads in that jar. How a mere mortal like Batman, this is gotta be the goofiest scene in the history of Batman at this point of time of where Batman actually been counting the bullets by his acute and supernatural hearing? ... I was laughing so hard and when i was watching the show - I just couldn't keep a straight face and that alone made this show minus 2 Bats because I remember Adam West at one of my four visits with him that this show is so campy that he couldn't keep a straight face talking to fans in the early 90's about it. Then the Penguin got arrested and the trial took place and this You Tube making this scene possibly the best Burgess acting so far and that's where his credit as a Super Villain comes through making him the victim and demanding his constitutional rights. Sorry about the video ... and please watch the entire clip and this is Burgess best moments ... this 4 minutes clip enables this show to wipe out the minus 2 Bats that I stated earlier. The show review is at ZERO. So, after all that going on he discovered that another forger can help him and his name is Quillpen Quirch, who is being played by Alfred, Batman's Butler and using his skills to read fingerprints - the Penguin discovered that this man at the restaurant is actually is Mr. Quirch and decided to use him instead. After all this going on and then later on the Penguin discovered that Mr. Quirch is actually Alfred the Butler and he wanted to have his revenge on Batman by using Alfred as a Bait. Alfred as Quillpen Quirch - another expert forger to use the patrons handwriting to use checks printed at the Prison so that the Penguin can use his skills for unlawful gains of monies for his own evil goods. So, after settling down here and my laughter subsides and then another campy moments arrive after the Penguin and his rotten gang decided that it's time to turn the tables and use Alfred posing as the phony forger and use him as a Butler Pie instead and baked him inside a colossal pie and going about it his own evil ways. Then the Caped Crusaders came to save Alfred and a good Bat Fight is in order and Alfred later on landed a punch at the Penguin and this melee at Wayne Manor was put into the end on a good note here and that's the only part that I've liked in this show. Then, later on at Commissioner Gordon's office and with the signatures inside Penguin's Umbrella - they are off to the State Prison and then without warning ... Ballpoint Baxter appears and then with Bruce Wayne help he was granted parole and Bruce decided to use him to teach penmanship to kids and give him a job that he can be a productive citizen and as Ballpoint walked in he stumbled in a very comedic and campy style that's made chuckled at the end. Ballpoint was played one of Batman's Producers ... Bats It was all Burgess Meredith's and that Court Scene made it possible to have the two Bats that was taken away and the show resetted at ZERO. With the scene of Alfred posing as Mr. Quirch, the giant Butler Pie, and Ballpoint Baxter getting a parole at the end of the show did not do much for me and I have to honestly feel that this show warrants one Bat. I just can't keep a straight face watching it.

That's too bad, Caped Crusader. :-( By the way, did you really talk to Adam West?

Thread Resuming in November Dear All Members because of the Holidays and Christmas coming our way - I will do 1 show a week maybe 2 starting November 1st and continue until end of the year. My girlfriend just informed me via e-mail that her boss wants her to work until April/May 2019 and she'll be working long hours and we don't have time to prepare a wedding in Spring that year. The 63rd show "The Cat's Meow" will start after November 1st and I need to get my thinking in order and start preparing for it that day. I have a busy day next Monday and with Water Polo closing in and with playoffs in mind; I'll be lucky to do one show a week in November and possibly do a little bit more in December because I don't have that many gifts to buy for Christmas. I'll have time to do some shows in the 3rd Season and not to do all of them because I consider the 3rd Season the weakest of three seasons of Batman. So, from November 2017 to March 2019 (latest) ... I'll do everything that I can to get to the final episode "Minerva, Mayhem and Millionaires" by end of next year and it's a good chance that I'll get it done by then. Back in action in November!

Batman Episodes (63 & 64) … Second Season
Original Air Dates Date 1 for #63 Date 2 for #64
Major Villain Name to be printed here
Important Guest Stars Names to be printed here
First Show Highlights A short 1-2 paragraphs highlighting the first show that has the cliffhanger at the end and 1 or 2 pictures to join with it.
Second Show Highlights A short 1-2 paragraphs wrapping up the show itself and the conclusion of the show and how it's ended and 1-2 pictures to back it up.
Bats I'm grading the two shows together not by itself.
This is going to be the format from now on combining two shows at once and I should be done between September and November of next year. I've been thinking about this and I think by doing the reviews on Sundays would be best for me and only be done on that day because of my personal commitments. These reviews will resume next week and by doing this way - I have a whole week to prepare for it and this will be much more easier than before.
That's my plan for the future of this thread - Members!

Batman Episodes (63 & 64) … Second SeasonThe Cat's Meow & The Bat's Kow Tow Original Air DatesDecember 14 & 15, 1966 Major VillainessJulie Newmar as Catwoman Important Guest StarsChad Stuart and Jeremy Clyde, Peter (Harry Upps) Leeds Maurice Dallimore, Judy Strangis First Show HighlightsIt's all started at a Morning Show hosted by Mr. Upps and he opened the Umbrella up and seconds later his voice stopped talking and then Bruce and Dick had to leave to go back to Wayne Manor because surely they would get a call from Commissioner Gordon. One of the unusual shows that I ever seen because the Umbrella has no meaning and Joker, Riddler, and the Penguin all in Jail and they did not think of Catwoman neither and that's bother me a lot. So, eventually Catwoman was being over confident that she would be able to steal Chad and Jeremy voices and forces England to pay a ransom for having their voices restored. Then, Catwoman made a big mistake going to Wayne Manor to reveal herself and with this going on around here and after much deducing by the Caped Crusader and the Boy Wonder himself they went to the Dance Studio and to comfort Catwoman and a Bat-Fight was expected and Catwoman turns the tables on the Dynamic Duo by drugging them and she ended up placing them in an Echo Chamber. Second Show HighlightsWhile inside with drip of water magnified 10 Million Times, Batman figured out what to do and told Robin to sing F# above high C and continue until the glass shattered. They were able to do and they both said that they will be hard of hearing for awhile. Then they raced to a Concert of where Chad and Jeremy are playing and Catwoman was surprised to see the Dynamic Duo escapes and all the sudden she stolen C & J's voices and demanding a ransom from England to pay for their voices by going to Sir Sterling Habits being played by Maurice Dallimore a Batman semi-regular without any luck. Don Ho made an appearance in the 2nd Show Then, Dick Grayson went upstairs and to see how Jeremy and Chad are doing and with a long discussion with them - they have their hair done at Oceanbring a Salon that specialized in Men's Hair. They were staying at Wayne Manor and having an afternoon tea with Aunt Harriet. Back to the Hair Salon a spirited Bat-Fight and it was fast and furious indeed and Batman and Robin were able to stop Catwoman her men and Catwoman escaped and one of the goofiest 3 minutes of dialogue in Batman's History came to play of which a man of my age was laughing while watching it. Adam West as Batman and Julie Newmar as Catwoman With their voices restored by Catwoman and every teenager in Gotham City rejoices as the program comes to the end with Bruce, Dick, Alfred, and Aunt Harriet join the fun and a surprise appearance of Commissioner Gordon enjoying the fun. One teenager is in the audience and her name is Judy Strangis better known to us as Dyna Girl ... her brother, Sam Strangis, was a production manager on the show. BatsThis rating is the best that I can do for the two shows combined and it's was a fun show to do and I wished that they cut back the 3 minute dialogue between Batman and Catwoman and the kicker is when Robin said "Holy Mush" and that's was pretty darn appropriate thing to say here. Next up it's the Puzzler starring Maurice Evans and this show is not my favorite and I'm going to try write this up.

Great review as usual @mechagodzilla ! Glad you are doing these again. I usually liked the Catwoman episodes. However these two weren't as good as I remembered.

I had absolutely no idea that Chad & Jeremy appeared in an episode of Batman. Crazy!
