@mechagodzilla great reviews. That is one beautiful picture of Anne Baxter in her youth. Man you must spend a lot of time on these reviews.
I'm curious about one thing...you seem to like the set up of the first part more than the conclusion of the second part. Do you think that is true?
And thanks for doing these...especially now with Adam West's death. Well, when you think about it, the formula was to build up the mystery and adventure in the first part, then escape the death trap and capture the villain in the second. As a result, the first part usually gets the meat of the story.

Batman Episode (1) … First Season – A Riddle a Day Keeps the Riddler Away Original Air Date - February 16, 1966 Major Villain - Frank Gorshin as the Riddler Important Guest StarsReginald Denny as King Boris, he was also in the Batman the Movie as the Commodore. Susan Silo as Mousey - Riddler Moll Tristram Coffin as Ambassador (as Tris Coffin) Note: Mr. Coffin was a semi-regular on the Adventure of Superman. Window Cameos - None My Thoughts about the Show
The Riddler uses 5 Riddles to get Batman and Robin get them trapped exactly where he wants them. Mousey and King Boris Here It's all started with a young girl who happen to be associated with Riddler who gave King Boris a bouquet of roses and startled everyone with this riddle. See picture above. So, Commissioner Gordon called the Dynamic Duo and they raced his office to discuss this riddle and this riddle them to a beauty pageant called Miss Galaxy of which the Riddler is after the precious diamond and emerald tiara of which wasn't. The Riddler figure out that Batman had a transmitter hidden in the Crown of which it was fake. Anyway, that's wasn't the Riddler was going after ... More clues and this time the real prize was the Riddler is about to capture King Boris and funny thing that he kidnap him for no ransom demands and left a Riddle and two more Riddles on the steps in the Wine Cellar that Batman and Robin warned King Boris of immediate Danger. When, King Boris was captured ... the Dynamic Duo raced to the Batcave to trying to solve the last three riddles that Riddler gave them and hopefully find a way to rescue King Boris. They did and went to an obsolete water and power plant that not being used and having said that they accidently walked into the trap captured by Men employed by the Riddler and caught in a silken spider web mess that they are having a hard time getting out of there. Then, the Riddler put them on a fiendishly device(s) for the Dynamic Duo and left them to die after Riddler's Men dispose of King Boris. Pretty simple to follow along here. Below are some clips from that show - Below. BatsNot bad of a show and it's pretty darn good one and everything falls in place.

First of all Frank Gorshin was amazing as the Riddler. Every time he appeared I got a big smile on my face. I love the trivia about King Boris. I did not know that he also appeared in the Batman Movie. Or that Mr Coffin also was in Adventures of Superman TV show. And I love that shot of Batman's cape. That costume was really well done for a TV show done at that time.

Gorshin was amazing with this episode. And seemed particularly to be the "deadliest" threat of all the major bat villains. The sheer brilliance of Gorshin's manic and maniacal purveyor of riddling and puzzles always testing the limits of Batman's intelligence (and patience) made for splendid television viewing. This episode alone has much merit for finding little gems with every re-watching.
Love Nigma's annoyance when Mousey goes off about meeting her 1st royalty. Gorshin nails the irritation with delivering all of his "royal" titles with such glee...

Batman Episode (1) … First Season – When the Rat's Away the Mice Will Play Original Air Date - February 17, 1966, that's my birthday and I was 7 years old then.Major Villain - Riddler, played by Frank Gorshin Important Guest StarsSusan Silo as Mousey Reginald Denny as King Boris Marvin Miller as TV Announcer Window Cameos None My Thoughts about the Show
After the Dynamic Duo escaped the clutches of the Riddler of enduring a supersonic roller coaster ride and Robin was having a hard time snapping out of it and when he did he said - one more revolution would had done it for us and Batman managed to get his trusty Laser Gun and knocked out the power source of the spinning device that Riddler did for them. After that, incident ... Batman called Commissioner Gordon and to inform him that they managed to escape after the Riddler call him to inform him of their untimely death. So, the Dynamic Duo decided to lay low and let the tricky Riddler outdo himself leading to a possible Batman's trap and that what Batman had in mind. King Boris managed to visit Gordon and O'Hara and both of the drilled the King and trying to find what happen to him and the King couldn't help them because he was blindfolded. Anyway, while this going on ... and King Boris visited the Gotham City Hall of Fame Museum and the TV Announcer. played by Marvin Miller was going over some of the things that people can see at the Hall of Fame, first building of a financial institution, bust of the first Mayor of Gotham City, and the Hall of Fame couldn't exist without Batman and Robin. With all this going on and an unexpected visit by Whitney who was ordered by the Riddler to play Batman and trying to establish a plan to outsmart the Riddler and with that - Bruce (Batman) Wayne was also in Commissioner Gordon's office and that's who Bruce figured out what's going on here. Batman got called twice on this and this was the turning point of the show because it made the Riddler thinking that he is out of the open and believing that Batman is dead a major and serious oversight on the part of the Prince of Puzzlers and that's led to his downfall. Then later on Mousey, Riddler's Moll tampered the Gotham City Police Call Box and left a message to Commissioner Gordon - marked important. Then, O'Hara and Gordon realized that this meant that the Riddler was thinking that he got Batman and Robin away and informed via note sent by Mousey that the Queen of Freedom is being blown up and damaged the Hall of Fame Museum and to pull of the biggest extortion caper in the history of Gotham City. Then Commissioner Gordon called Batman and because of Bruce Wayne was present at the time - both Gordon and Batman both decided to leave the plan intact in order to fool the Riddler in his ultimate undoing that proves to be the downfall of the Riddler. The extortion caper was involved of one Million Dollar Cash In a bag inside the Museum around 9pm. The big Surprise to the Riddler is to first to deactivate the Bomb, the Torch was missing, and the Riddler got out-riddled by Batman and he was getting more confused by the minute. Then, after the Torch was missing ... he decided to go after the Bag that contains the Million Dollars and he was tricked by Batman because he knew the villainous plot after all. The best part of this show is when Batman holding the replica version of the Queen of Freedom and informed that (Riddler warned him) and told the Riddler - I deactivated the Bomb and now Robin said ... We are going to deactivate you! ... Riddler 4 against 2 and with a great Bat-Fight at end and a couple of Policemen came by and round up the Riddler, Mousey, and the River Rats too. That Bat-Fight at the end was great. Short and Fast and I liked immensely. This scene below was the my favorite in Season 1 showing four goons here started and surprised by the sudden appearance of the Dynamic Duo.At end of the program, at Wayne Manor ... Aunt Harriet is seeing some out of town visitors and wondering if Bruce and Dick wants to tag along; Bruce had to go over some Wayne Business and Dick has to some Algebra Homework and the show draws to a close. BatsMy Favorite Show in the 1st Season of Batman because of that scene and Bat Fight at the end of the Bomb being deactivated and all.

Batman Episode (1) … First Season – The Thirteenth Hat Original Air Date - February 23, 1966 Major Villain - David Wayne as the Mad Hatter Important Guest StarsDiane McBain as Lisa Alberto Morin as Octave Marbot Monique LeMaire as Magda Window Cameos - None My Thoughts about the ShowI just watched this show and I thought it was one of the poorest written show at the beginning of the 1st Season of Batman and it's has one fatal flaw. The flaw is when Commissioner Gordon called the Dynamic Duo when the Mad Hatter struck again and he stole the hat that Magda was wearing - before Gordon called he confirmed that and the next scene showing Mad Hatter pulls up and haven't done the dastardly deed yet. Lisa (Diane McBain) and Magda (Monique LeMaire) pictured here and Batman got a clue (from Lisa) to go to Octave Marbot who is making a statue of Batman. I just find this scene the Commissioner Gordon's Office and the scene of where the Mad Hatter showed up and this is biggest blunder that the Producers of Batman ever done in the first season of Batman. I just don't understand why they made this terrible error. This show is all about the missing jurors and another idiotic error(s) in the beginning of the show ... not one member of the Jury recognized the Mad Hatter when he kidnapped them and stole their hats! ... I find that very odd and stupid indeed because the Producers of the Show didn't think good about that at all. Then, Batman went to stop the Mad Hatter and the rest was history when he got plastered and the whole show ends right there. I was shaking my head of how this show was created in the first place and really made it so bad that I just didn't feel like writing much about this and find this show one of the worst show in the early days of Batman in the first season period. Sorry folks ... this show should had done better. Bats
The 2nd part of the show ... Batman Stands Pat will be in tomorrow.

Best part of this one is Hatter's hat! Pop up mesmerizing zapping eyes from your top hat. Ingenious! And Hatter himself always looked scary to me when i was watching as a youngster. The eyebrows and his prancing and enunciation always creepy to younger me. Even now as an adult still somewhat eerie when i watch a Hatter episode. David Wayne was always fun though as he is one of those "old school" types who you just knew was doing it for the paycheck but still gave a great performance.

Batman Episode (1) … First Season – Batman Stands PatOriginal Air Date - February 24, 1966 Major Villain - David Wayne as the Mad Hatter Important Guest StarsDiane McBain as Lisa George Conrad as Turkey Bowinkle Window Cameos - None My Thoughts about the ShowAfter escaping that Plaster Trap by holding his breath and all that - surprised the Mad Hatter and all times they managed to escape and proceed on finishing the caper. The Mad Hatter tried to steal the Batmobile and he couldn't because of all the bells and whistles going off. They all got out the Batmobile and going to back to the Batcave and discuss all the clues that they have been getting. Another low moments of Batman taking forward to the Batmobile and Dicer trying to start the Batmobile with no luck because of the anti-crime measures. They even consider going over After this moment - an another low point - Batman been busy, trying to figure out what's the world coming to and feeding the Anti-Crime Computer and it's took so long to come to conclusion that the Mad Hatter is going after the Jury that convict him of the last caper that he was personally involved and took Batman two calls to the Commissioner's to figure out that the Mad Hatter is after Turkey Bowinkle; the 12th Juror! Very Idiotic Scene in the Batcave! Both Alfred and Lisa making headways into Turkey and the Mad Hatter discovered that inside Turkey Bowinkle hat was a Bat Transmitter and he snatched him and taking advantage that he wants Batman to enter his Hat Factory after all. It was a nice way of putting it altogether. So, the Mad Hatter lured Batman and eventually caught Batman and wanting that fantastic cowl for his collection. A good Bat Fight followed and it was well executed and pleasantly filled with great action and drama. Nicely done and I enjoyed it very much. Both Batman and Robin was swinging away from light fixtures and it was ended in a high notes and then Batman ask Lisa where are the missing jurors and soon that done - Commissioner Gordon and his men arrived a bit late and that's safely concluded here. Great Picture of David Wayne as the Mad Hatter! The Hat Factory ... Deadly Designs by the Mad Hatter! BatsI like the ending of the program of where Bruce and Dick to Aunt Harriet and Bruce brought a nice hat for her and it's cost Bruce $85.00 for it. It was pretty cool the way they did it. A weak 3 Bats ... more like 2.5 Bats to me.

I've done six reviews in one week and I'm taking a three days break from this thread and come back and do The Joker Goes to School on next Monday. 14 out of 120 shows done so far and I'm quite surprised to be here at this point and ahead of schedule of doing the whole series.

I agree the fight scenes were always cool. With the music & the graphics & the choreography they were a highlight each episode.
