The Joker Trumps an AcePart 1 of 2Interesting FactsThis marked the first appearance of Bryon Keith as the Mayor of Gotham City and a new recurring character on that show. I just wanted to share that today; and I just watched this show and hope to have a review later on today if I can squeeze it in. He was one of my favorite characters on that show and made it a very successful one transitioning himself into the 2nd Season and he was superb in every way. He was excellent as a supporting cast member and I wished he appeared in more shows in Batman.

The Joker Trumps an AcePart 2 of 2Interesting FactsNorman Alden was the Henchmen #1 in this show and I was surprised to see him in this show and he was the voice of Aquaman in the Super Friends Cartoon Show for many years. His voice was perfect for that show. Later on, he was one of the main players in Electra Woman and Dyna Girl Television Show as well. He was kind of like Alfred to these two dynamic female heroes - Electra Woman and Dyna Girl and did a terrific job supporting it. I wished this show lasted a bit longer and it was a fun show to watch. He played a character by the name of Frank Heflin a scientist that assisted the female duo - Electra Woman and Dyna Girl. Deidre Hall as Electra Woman Judy Strangis as Dyna Girl Basically this show was a takeoff of Batman and Robin. Regarding the note below about Judy Strangis. Note: She appeared twice as an extra on Batman; her brother, Sam Strangis, was a production manager on the show. Some Facts about this show - that I wanted to share with you now and hopefully later on ... the show itself.

Batman Episode (1) … First Season – The Joker Trumps an Ace Original Air Date - April 6, 1966 Major Villain - Cesar Romero as the Joker Important Guest StarsSee Above for additional information. Tol Avery as Prescott Belmont & Angela Greene as Mrs. Belmont Mr. and Mrs. Belmont - better known to us as the Banking Belmonts. Jane Wald as Jill She was a sweet and gentle Moll and acted nicely on this show! My Thoughts about the ShowThe show started out as the Joker invaded a fur salon place of where doting husbands take their wives out for a day of extravagant shopping for beautiful furs to be purchase! Then, without warning, the Joker appears and causes great riot inside the fur salon getting all the people in the center of the room and starts firing colorful streamers and getting all the customers in dire straits and all that and went to the Banking Belmonts and using a magnet to steal diamonds encrusted hairpins from the helpless Mrs. Belmont. Hold Minks together ... Ha, Ha, Ha, and more Ha Ha from the Joker, the Crown Prince of Crime! Then, later on both Chief and the Commissioner heard that the Joker is up in his old bags of tricks and stolen hairpins, a hole from the golf course of where they learned that the Joker had stolen hairpins and a hole from the Golf Course earlier and called upon the Dynamic Duo at Wayne Manor while Bruce and Dick are putting together a puzzle with the pieces upside down to improve their skills of observation. So, later on a package arrived and they deduces that the Joker is after the The Maharajah who is schedule to play golf at a Country Club of which the clue from a package that was sent by the Joker earlier that day. What the Joker up to at the Country Club? ... You'll find out Next! .... Ha! Ha! Ha! A series of action scenes and intense moments for the Dynamic Duo who were unsuccessful in saving the The Maharajah with the Joker using this Truck (see picture below) for his evil trickery! Then an important clue was inside the Toy Truck that led to abandoned factory named Katz, Katz, and Katz of where the Dynamic Duo was subdued and quickly captured by the criminal gang of the Joker while his henchmen uses rope to capture them and the Joker uses a Ray Gun to disable all the gadgets in the Utility Belts for at least an hour while the Joker placed them in a smokestack that will be filled with deadly gas! The end of the Dynamic Duo ... I'm presumed! BatsI was impressed by the sheer numbers of important guests on this show and having the Mayor making his first appearance here and all that and most of all I was chuckling to see everyone had a fair amount of lines to make this show works for all players involved here. This is good writing and plot sequence.

Batman Episode (1) … First Season – Batman Sets the Pace Original Air Date - April 7, 1966 Major Villain - Cesar Romero as the Joker Important Guest StarsSee Above for additional information. Tol Avery as Prescott Belmont & Angela Greene as Mrs. Belmont My Thoughts about the ShowAfter escaping the Smoke Stack, the Dynamic Duo are now free and clear from the clutches of the Joker and now with them out of the smoke stack and the Joker see them and drats on them and the left immediately the Katz, Katz, and Katz Warehouse. They escaped in Dramatic and Dynamic Fashion with a great camera shot of the whole thing in place! After escaping, they went to the Batcave and trying to figure out the source of the deadly gas and they trace it back to novelty shop of which I find it odd indeed and the next step for the Caped Crusaders is to go to that Shop as Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson to find out where the hideout the Joker is. Using the One Way Glass that was provided by the store Bruce discovered a hidden room of where the rotten gang of the Joker is along with the Maharajah is and bingo; the place is discovered and later the Duo planned to attack it. At the Magic Shop of which Bruce discovered a secret Joker Hideout ... and later developed a plan for it ... So, back to the Batcave to develop a plan using mathematical equations and land topography and all that and the Duo raced back to the Novelty Store and the Joker and his men and a great Bat Fight and all the Joker's Men are rounded up and into the arms of the Gotham City Police Department of which Batman called the Commissioner at his office with the details and at the same time the Joker called the office via radio communications and wanted to make a deal with Batman. So, Batman agree to meet the Maharajah at Gotham City Bank tomorrow, Main Branch, at Exactly 10am to finalized the deal. So, Batman was forced to endorse the check of $500,000 of which it is absolutely worthless and Batman with his trusty pointer stick the pointer in the backside of the Maharajah and indeed the man inside is the Clown Prince of Crime! Another brief and intense Bat Fight followed and the Dynamic Duo stopped the Joker of its plan and the day is saved! Joker Defeated As Batman told Mr. Belmont, the Chief, and the Commissioner all about the Joker scheme and they were impressed by the Caped Crusader's finding and all that ... and Batman told the Commissioner that both him and the Maharajah never, ever seen together and Dynamic Duo explained to them that the real Maharajah is on a Tiger Exhibition Trip and there were no formal protest by his government and even Batman called the Palace of Nimpah to confirm it and the rest is history. Commissioner Gordon said to Batman - You done it again Caped Crusader and the show draw to the close ... With Batman tossing the Briefcase containing the $500,000 to Mr. Belmont to secure it. BatsI gave it 5 Bats because it was fast paced, wonderfully scripted, dramatic ending, a great and furious Bat Fight at Katz, Katz, and Katz and the surprised expression of the Joker seeing Batman discovered his other hideout and so forth. It was great show and I really enjoyed this show for all these twists and turns that makes you wonder what next. And, the cute ending of which Commissioner Gordon called Batman of which he heard rumors of Batman running for Governor of California and all that and Batman reassured the Commissioner of those rumors are false and he is planning on saying in Gotham City!

Batman Episode (1) … First Season – The Curse of Tut Original Air Date - April 13, 1966 Major Villain - Victor Buono as King Tut Important Guest StarsZiva Rodann as Nefertiti My Thoughts about the ShowThe opening sequence is showing two of the King Tut's henchmen arrived at the park wearing Gold Masks and making a delivery of a Sphinx to terrorize Gotham City so that King Tut can declare it as is own. So, at Commissioner Gordon and Chief O'Hara called got ahold of Bruce Wayne to figure out is this a publicity stunt or not and it's was a ploy by King Tut and Bruce advises them to get hold of Batman. Batman and Robin raced to Commissioner Gordon's office and after a round of discussion they better head over the park to investigate the Sphinx that was left by King Tut. So, after carefully inspecting it and Robin notices something odd about this Golden Statue and the Dynamic Duo tied a rope around it and pull it from the ground for safety. Before they did that his evil Queen - Nefertiti informed King Tut that the Duo already there hoping one of them to be killed by a long knife hidden inside that Sphinx. Ziva Rodann is wonderful as his evil queen and I wished she had a recurring role in this program. The Dynamic Duo was spotted and they were saved by their careful approach to the Sphinx and after that they spotted the strange looking woman on the other side of the park and they knew that she is working for King Tut and she got away using an exploding snake and all the sudden several of King Tut men appeared and fighting the Dynamic Duo with Swords in an explosive, fast moving, and exciting Bat Fight! It was short and intense one and ... very exciting one indeed! So later on, while Batman and Robin was trying to figure out what is going on - King Tut developed a plan to capture and kidnapped Bruce Wayne at the Museum of where King Tut's remains are being held and he volunteered to be a consultant so that everyone understands the artifacts being presented here. When, they approached the piece of resistance here and all that and that's the mummy of King Tut that came alive and they took it to an office to have a Doctor take a good look at it and marveled the skilled preservations of the mummy's itself and all that. Spooky Eyes and quite evil too ... Then, Bruce Wayne wanted a ride to the Hospital and was subdued by his Henchmen and quickly King Tut changes in his everyday clothes and told the world that Bruce Wayne is kidnapped and Police Commissioner Gordon tries to call Batman and with no luck at all as the Boy Wonder couldn't get ahold of him either and as Alfred and Robin pondered in the Batcave thinking of Bruce Wayne/Batman whereabouts. Later on as the Ambulance speeds on delivering Bruce Wayne to the clutches of King Tut and some twist of fate Bruce managed to get out of the Ambulance and faced a terrifying and death defying drop of 300 feet down on a cliff outside of Gotham City! It's a cliffhanger alright and Bruce saved yourself ... BatsIt was an exciting show to watch and it's delivered the punchline and I've enjoyed it from start to finish. Great Pace and lots of fun too.

It's actually Victor Buono; minor discrepancy.
Always loved the King Tut episodes, as Buono always knew exactly how to play this kind of stuff. He does similar work in the Matt Helm spy series (The Silencers) and in the movie Whose Minding the Mint? He was also one of the more entertaining elements of the Man From Atlantis tv series, with Patrick Duffy, as the villain Mr. Schubert.

I corrected that oversight. I have seen him in the Silencers and the Mint movie as well ... but not the Atlantis one.

Batman Episode (1) … First Season – The Pharaoh's in a Rut Original Air Date - April 14, 1966 Major Villain - Victor Buono as King Tut Important Guest StarsZiva Rodann as Nefertiti My Thoughts about the ShowWell, the show begins as Bruce Wayne saved himself from the 300 foot fall from the cliff and managed to hang onto a wooden barrier just in time as he unraveled himself from King Tut's men. Then, he managed to get home at Wayne Manor and map out a plan to stop King Tut; but how? Later on, in the hideout of King Tut, the whole gang was watching demolition derby and King Tut wanted to watch the news ... And, Tut finally got to see the news of which Commissioner Gordon introduces the one and the only Batman and he needed to do more research to figure out a way to capture King Tut and his royal tutlings. He decided to head off to Alexandria Egypt for that research alone and left the Police to stop King Tut. His queen was so fixed on Batman on Television - keep saying how groovy he's really is and how handsome and all that being so taken by him and King Tut got really angry at his queen and threw her into the dungeons to endure a pebble count torture. And, later King Tut wanted Bruce Wayne captured! With Aunt Harriett out of the way, Alfred assisted the Dynamic Duo in letting King Tut capture Bruce Wayne and all that knowing well that Batman is one that volunteered this mission. After both deposed queen and Batman endured the Pebble Count Torture and Tut's men took the Cases and King Tut ordered both Batman and his disloyal queen to dance for his amusement to Bat Music and the Greatest Batusi was born here. I used this picture for my Avatar! Batman decided to turn on the voice relayed Batmobile Voice Activated System to have it to eject the Batmobile so that King Tut doesn't use the Bat Beam. Somehow without warning the short circuit failed and Batman nabs him for good. Bats

The park setting gave this the feel of a Beverly Hillbillies episode, since they did a bunch in Griffith Park. A lot of the scenery here looks similar. Imagine those two shows colliding; Jethro meets Batman and wants to join up, Jed and Grannie have to rescue the Caped Crusaders, Mr Drysdale goes digging after Bruce Wayne's millions. Too bad they were on different networks.
Looking forward to Bookworm; his moll was a honey!

I have fond memories of the "Joker Trumps an Ace"/"Batman Sets the Pace" two-parter. As a kid I taped these two episodes off of TV and re-watched them quite a few times. Cracking two-part adventure. Pure 1966 Bat-camp. The King Tut episode was just nuts!

As I've been rewatching this recently King Tut for me has turned out to be one of the better villains in the entire series. I agree with your assessment here and the previous one is not my favorite - the one in the 2nd season is by far my favorite.
