I was wondering, did they ever resolve the Red Skull having Professor X's brain (like, did he lose it, or did they just start ignoring it) Red Skull having Chuck Xaviers brain was resolved underwhelmingly in the pages of Uncanny Avengers. After Red Skull was defeated I think Rogue cremated the brain but can't remember exactly. Gah. If Xavier's brain was still functional, why didn't they just bring Charles back? It's not as if he hadn't been cloned before.

Ye gods, that sucked so badly it's untrue. Haven't been so disillusioned with Marvel's output since I bailed on comics completely in the mid-80s. My read list is down into low single digits, and I don't think I'm far from giving up entirely - I think all I'm left with at the moment are Thor, Old Man Logan and Astro City.
By the way, for those of you who think Xavier is gone, check out Astonishing X-Men (or don't, it's not actually very good, but Xavier is in it)

I don't remember the exact mechanics, but IIRC from Uncanny Avengers, Red Skull stole the body and somehow hooked the brain up to some machine so he could have his mental powers. He also somehow made his own mutants (not sure if that was related or not).

(Come on Marvel... give us a time-displaced teenage Xavier! That's what all of comicdom wants!)

So was there ever any endgame with Frank turning on Cap/Hydra or anything?
Because I don't buy the theory for a second that Castle would willingly participate in the annhilation of thousands of innocent people just to please Cap and be given the authority to wage his war with no interference.

I could see them dealing with that a bit in the epilogue, but they may also just ignore it completely and do something else, as they did with Superior Iron Man.

If Xavier's brain was still functional, why didn't they just bring Charles back? It's not as if he hadn't been cloned before. It wasn't that simple. The Skull had half of Xavier's brain grafted to his own. His personality was gone, the Skull just had the part that gave him his powers. It was removed from him by Beast, who can now apparently perform brain surgery and build time machines despite being a biochemist.

Yeah Beast, like most of the big brains in the Marvel universe, has really become a general expert in most science fields insted of having a focus in recent years.

In Marvel having a graduate degree (even in, say, economics) makes you an expert in every field of science and also lets you build androids. It is nice to see that SOME writers understand Marvel canon as it dates back to Smilin' Stan.

I read a few issues last night... it seems he still had the powers right after standoff, but he was in hiding with his daughter for some reason. Not sure I care enough to read more (they're pretty bad) but we'll see
