New Inhumans trailer out from SDCC:
Looking even more like a giant mountain of suck, IMHO. I think one of the problems are the voices - listen to the characters speak, and do any of them sound like you imagine them? Medusa particularly - when I imagine her voice, "whiny valley girl" is not the image I have in my head

I agree that this looks cheap and frankly bland without the Kirby designs. I would never expect them to attempt a literal translation, but there is nothing to the visuals of this show that scratches the surface of what made the Inhumans interesting to look at in the comics. I also have very little faith that a Marvel show outside of Netflix is going to be any good. I don't even watch network TV anymore, so that's also a factor.

I think the Triton special effects makeup could look better. I like that we are getting to see Medusa use her powers but I can's say the CGI was impressive. I still cant get over how adorable Lockjaw looks.

Another Inhumans trailer out
Amazingly, they've kept up their record, of every trailer making the series look even worse than the last - terrible script, terrible acting, terrible effects. Based on the trailers (which may (hopefully!) be misleading as to the quality of the series, admittedly), this will be lucky to avoid cancellation to the end of its first series
It's starting to shape up as a contender to the not-at-all-coveted crown of "Show that's even worse than Powers"

Amazing - it's still getting worse!
That last trailer - it looks like they're trying to pitch it as GoT with superpowers, and it just looks soooo bad.

I have to wonder if regular viewers will savage this as much as we have.

I have to wonder if regular viewers will savage this as much as we have. They'll probably just change the channel.

Thanks, Slam_Bradley, for helping me to understand that the critical flop in theaters is actually this television series and not a separate film. Anyway, I'm just utterly confused as to how Marvel screwed this up so badly. If there was ever a media franchise Marvel needed to take off, it's the one intended to prove once and for all that Marvel doesn't need the X-Men anymore. Here's a particularly scathing review.

What makes it worse is that after multiple seasons of Agents of SHIELD using the Inhumans as a major point of focus, the chance to do something grand with them has apparently been wasted. We all knew it wasn't going to look as majestic as Game of Thrones or be as densely rich in storytelling, but they needed to do better than this, which looks and feels closer to Sharknado than GoT.

Thanks, Slam_Bradley , for helping me to understand that the critical flop in theaters is actually this television series and not a separate film. Anyway, I'm just utterly confused as to how Marvel screwed this up so badly. If there was ever a media franchise Marvel needed to take off, it's the one intended to prove once and for all that Marvel doesn't need the X-Men anymore. Both on TV and in the comics Marvel has been trying to push the Inhumans as replacements for the X-people for years, now, and it never worked for me... as in not at all, to the point where I actively resent the Inhumans now. They have nowhere the attractive power of the better representatives of the X-Men cast, and while the concept behind their existence is interesting in a comic-book context, it is far more removed from normal people than is that of the X-Men (who are basically "the other" among us, the outcast, the people we loathe and fear for no good reason). The writer actually makes me want to see that series with her introduction, with the description of a cool and complex SF world. This, however, is where things go south : "Basically, it comes down to this: We’re given no reason to like or care about what happens to the royal family. " Yeah, that would be a major problem. It's the one I had with Iron Fist as well (on top of the generally lousy martial arts moves)... we were given no reason to empathize with Danny Rand, who comes across as petulant and childish. No matter how intriguing the TV Attilan may be, no matter how exotic the sets or gripping the action, if we don't care about the characters, the show will stink.
