To me, it's Captain America, Iron Man, and Mighty Thor ... hands down; based on the popularity of these heroes in terms of movies, books, and other criteria that should be considered. But wouldn't that just be recently since the Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and Avengers movies came out (2008-current date). If it was the mid 2000's and only the Spider-Man movies, X-Men movies, Hulk, and Fantastic Four movie has come out, but none of the Cap's Tony's or Thor's movies have come out, would it still be the same three above? Also, how about from let say the 1960's to the 1990's when those Marvel movies didn't come out yet (I know there were cheesy ones that have come out for TV in the 70's and 80's). Spider-Man movies is all about Spider-Man and nothing else. Both X-Men and Fantastic Four are team groups movies and nothing else and they were in my opinion - mixed feelings about them because of the quality of these movies and the last Fantastic Four movie is the worst movie of all time. Hulk movies are exceptionally all about the Hulk, the Hulk in the Avengers is by far the best Hulk there and I just can't put him in the Marvel Trinity because he belongs to a team unit and having said that ... Hulk is always a Loner and having said that ... he can't be in the Marvel Trinity. That's why I put Captain America, Iron Man, and the Mighty Thor as the true Marvel Trinity on my own experiences reading Marvel Comics in terms of awareness and most people can relate to. That's why I've carefully weighed this and because Captain America, Iron Man, and the Mighty Thor do so well in the Avengers and do so well in mainstream Marvel in terms of doing things alone fighting for justice is my judgment are the true Trinity of Marvel Comics. Too bad, Marvel doesn't have a Wonder Woman and having said that ... I just can't think of one Female Hero that's have the fanfare of Wonder Woman and all that. It's impossible to name one Marvel Female Hero to equal and or surpass Wonder Woman. I respect your judgment here and I understand where you are coming from ... but, I just can't see anyone can surpass the trio of Marvel Characters of ... These three are rightfully are ... many Marvel Fans can relate these three in more ways in one.

I don't think they really have one. I can't think of any three MU characters that correspond to the DC trinity of Superman, Batman, and WW in terms of historical longevity, prominence, popularity, or even how they function within the respective fictional universes. Captain America would be the closest, as he often gets something like the same kind of reverence as Superman and Batman do from fans, creators, and other characters within the DC/MU.
I'm only speaking for myself - IOW, as a reader whose familiarity with the MU drops off sharply after the early 80s. Maybe things are different now, especially with the movie influence.

If we're looking at the Big Three properties, and not just the big three characters, then it's Spidey, Fantastic Four, and The Avengers. Sure, the X-Men sort of dominated for a while there, but they felt like their own little special section of the Marvel Universe long before Fox obtained the movie rights.

Funny. The first three that leap to my mind are Namor, the Torch, and Captain America. A pure nostalgia pick.

That's who I thought of too Phil, but that was the Golden Age.
There's no doubt they were Timely's trinity.
There isn't and hasn't been a trinity at Marvel since.
IF I had to pick a trinity of some kind based on right now, I'd say it's Spidey / Wolverine / Deadpool, but that still feels kind of not right.
No matter what, if you're putting an iconic group together Spidey has to be in it.

There's no doubt they were Timely's trinity. That has a nice ring to it, in addition to being accurate. Doesn't it become exhausting being right all the time, Hondo?

I think a worthy question to ask is "Who is the face of Marvel Comics?" For DC it would have to be either Supes or Batman. While Thor, Cap, and Iron Man are closely linked with each other, I don't think any of them personified Marvel in the public's mind the way Spidey did. Spidey is to Marvel what Mickey Mouse is to Disney, so if Marvel's trinity is simply their three most significant characters then Spidey is a no brainer.

If we are on about comics and not the MCU then nobody is above Spider-Man as an icon for Marvel, so any trinity would have to include him. So my Marvel trinity would be Spider-Man - Cpt America - Hulk.
