It was the hockey puck reference that did it for me. After all, who could forget Gaard?
Trust me, I've tried.
So - how about the one where Archie and Betty say they're married to get a motel room, and right after they check in Archie tells Betty to take all her clothes off?

Thats the one where they all go to the hotel pool and Archie has an accident BOING - yeah, I can relate. But no; no Veronica in this one. Just Arch and Betty, and their parents. Betty's dad thinks the kids need to get married.

You know, I never read a lot of Archie comics when I was younger, but if I had encountered more stories like that when I did, I might have.... -M

I thought some folk would've heard of it, but it's not looking good. Maybe I should just tell which issue it was, and we can go on to another one?

There are a handful of posters here who have read a lot of Archie stuff, but I don't think any of them have participated in this thread yet. It's your call as to whether you want to reveal or give it a little more time...

That would be the infamous "Always a Bridesmaid" in Betty and Me #40.

That would be the infamous "Always a Bridesmaid" in Betty and Me #40. Spoil me, what was the plot and what was the conclusion of this motel story? Rather than attempt to summarise this work of genius here, I will point to the summary presented here: www.misterkitty.org/extras/stupidcovers/stupidcomics196.htmlThis is a much better (and funnier) summary than I could hope to produce. One really has to wonder what the editors were thinking.

Assuming that I was actually correct in identyifing this tale:
How about the one where Captain Boomerang gets punked by a gang of fake zombies?

Not only do you get it right, you even post a link to the same summary I was going to point people to, so everyone can enjoy this unique story. Nice job!
