For all the praise of his early legendary Marvel work to the controversies and questions of his Superman relaunch even to the work he produced when he later returned to Marvel, I've never heard anything, good or bad, about his three year run on Wonder Woman from #101-136.
For example, I never knew till recently that he created Cassie Sandsmark, the 'current' Wonder Girl during this run.
So, was it good? Bad? Indifferent? Forgettable?

Mostly forgettable. Diana became a supporting character in her own title. She "died" and became a goddess. Her Mother Hippolyta took over the role of Wonder Woman. Byrne also tried to "fix" things by having Hippolyta go back to WWII & becoming Wonder Woman in the JSA. The JSA called her Polly. He also tried to "fix" Donna Troy & explain her conflicting origins.

I recently picked up a handful from a dollar box. It's not that good, but if you're a Byrne fan it's okay. So, so sick of Darkseid though. He seems to use him all the time.

Is that when Diana was a diplomat? I have a few issues, but not that many. I remember Cassie, since the original version had dark hair like my sister of the same name:

Very disappointing. It ranged from meh to terrible for most of it, and the art seemed phoned in for most of the run. I was holding out for a fun run if not spectacular when it was announced, but I gave up after about 6 issues or so after it started. It's pretty much the run that sealed the deal with Byrne for me and put him on the list of creators whose stuff was really no longer worth checking out.

His Wonder Woman was a bust in my opinion and I can safely say that mrp post here is exactly what I would say about it ... nothing more and nothing less.

That is so surprising. One would think that with such a prominent character, Bryne would've had more of an impact of some kind. Especially considering he was the one who gave us her first appearance Post-Crisis in the Legends mini.

Wonder Woman v2 #1 by Potter amd Perez pre-dated her appearance in Legends #6 by a couple of months.

Been a while but I kinda liked it. Wonder Girl, 🎀especially, felt like a breath of fresh air in the grim and gritty bad girl era. (An obvious attempt to redo Kitty Prude in retrospect but, hey, I like Kitty enough that I think there's room for two.

I remember the Byrne WW run as the official book where he stopped being a superstar. Sad.

I remember when it was announced Byrne would be taking over Wonder Woman and looking forward to it. I was very disappointed with the results. The art was not good and in some issues, Wonder Woman's forehead was bigger than her entire body. He simplified her costume, removing all but 2 stars from her shorts ( I recall an article at the time alleged Byrne was too lazy to draw all the stars). A forgettable run indeed. I did enjoy the introduction of Cassie as Wonder Girl--and some outcry that it should have been Vanessa instead of a new character.

I remember Cassie, since the original version had dark hair like my sister of the same name: Cassie was always a blonde.. she put on a dark wig for Wonder Girl -- Byrne actually made it continuity by saying it was the "wig" Diana wore (it was suddenly a wig and not her hair) during that awful "not Wonder Woman" costume.

I didn't catch that.

The cover was terrible:
Although I did like his JSA arc (with Hippolyta as Wonder Woman):
