I wanted to like OWAW but it was too spread out among too many titles.

It was that, but, it was well done IMO.

I don't remember any buzz on these series when they came out but I liked them: Did you like the third, and final, series ? I liked them all

Looking at that last cover my opinion is that Byrne needs an inker to add weight to his figures. I love Rubinstein's inks over his pencils in his Cap run.

Maybe because there was no trade collection. And it always get bumped on my back issue list because I find something else I would rather get/read instead.

On Byrne's Generations, my impression is that they were/are pretty well-liked, or at least I & II are, while opinions on third series are mixed. Personally, I really, really love the first two, while I think the third is just o.k.

I'm another that enjoyed Identity Crisis, but I treated it mentally as an imaginary story: "What if the DC superheroes were the cast of a murder mystery?" It was decent as a "play-fair" mystery--I figured out the culprit from the clues, some of which were, as I recall, not explicitly reviewed in the conclusion (e.g., the times shown on a certain watch indicate that things are happening a little differently than they appear to be in one critical scene). My biggest disappointment was that some of the mysteries that Meltzer appeared to be setting up turned out not to happen: there were some intriguing hints about the new Captain Boomerang that suggested a lot more than we got. I have to wonder now if I was reading more than Meltzer intended to suggest, but if so, I don't know how to explain what he did intend with the scene of Boomerang Sr. waiting to meet Jr. for the first time.
