The Human Torch (both versions) has always been an interesting character to me. But neither has had a decent logo. I do like the one above the most.

I'm happy that you do and I just made additional changes to my list and recheck that everything is in order. Just to let you all know what I did in the last hour or so.

I think I understand your frustration with The Human Torch's logo Mecha. If you want to have a logo (or character for that matter) stand out, then setting that logo (or character) on fire should get the job done and I think it does. Early logos for the Human Torch played up the fire nature of the character by really emphasizing the flames Now, for a splash page inside a comic entitled 'Marvel Comics', I think this works nicely. Here 'The Human Torch' serves not as the title of the comic you've just bought, but as a name meant to intrigue the reader. This logo doesn't have to jump out at you since it's not appearing on the cover of the comic so I think it works for what it is. However, if you want a logo for a comic called 'The Human Torch' then something like this might work better Here, the flames are downplayed in favour of a cover that's more bold than intriguing. If you're a kid trying to determine which logo jumps out at you, then this would probably work better than the logo used in the story above it. It's bigger and stronger than the other one, but with some modification, you could remove the flame motif just by getting rid of the scalloped edges. Now with the first logo however, there's no getting away from the fire motif - the edges, the interior of each letter, even the area around it is engulfed in flames, but the letters aren't as bold as the second logo. I would have liked to have seen some combination of the two in the final product - individually, each one is still a great logo, but each one also has a strength that the other lacks. Still, I like them both - I mean, how can you go wrong with a logo that's on fire?

Number 61, 62, and 63It was used in Showcase #4 Pretty Simple Logo and I've just loved the design of it and it's quite simple and it's invoke Super Speed and all that things that associated with the Flash. It's a classic and for all it's worth ... this logo is very simple to create and it's preaches motion and I love all these logos and nothing ever changed my mind about it. Creates Speeds and nothing more! Although by the time of the last issue of Jay Garrick's run the logo had been changed such that the speed lines were removed and electrical bolts added, I like that a certain link was created between the two Flash runs by having Barry Allen's logo not be too dissimilar from his predecessor's. Like you said, all you really need to do to make an eye catching cover out of this logo is just create a logo that says speed and that's been done nicely here. I suppose for that reason, the exclamation point after 'The Flash' in your top logo wasn't really needed, but I kind of like it. I guess it would have taken up more space on the cover than was necessary, but I think it could have worked (especially in a medium in which characters sentences always ended in exclamation marks rather than periods).

Number 58X-Men From Marvel Comics I've a soft spot for Original Team Logos and this is one of them! I find it an iconic and classic design that's bold, easily identified, and most importantly ... I find it a clean and refreshing logo that's will endures for a long time and I wished that in a 50-100 years later that this logo will be remembered and I truly feel that. This logo should never fade away and to my heart ... I loved this logo and that got me hooked on this group lead by Professor X and his team of mutants that's trying their best to protect mankind and protect themselves at the same time. This is all that I can say about it. One more thing, the words "The Strangest Super-Heroes of all! ... is very nice touch and that alone speaks itself about this team. And, for the record ... I'm not quite sure that those words are a part of the logo or not ... but, in my feelings is not. Couple books later in issue #3 ... a picture of a flying Angel appears that's part of the logo too and I liked that touch to it. It's added class and style to the Cover and the Logo at the same time.

Number 57Green Lantern From DC Comics For the record, I had this logo at Number 8 and through careful re-evaluation ... it's now at Number 57; why because it's too plain and not that great a logo and it's a classic and much more recognizable than the others that below this list. I like it because it's pure, simple, and very real to me. One thing that's a winner in my book is the green flames that borders the logo and that's makes it very cool and stylish too. It's doesn't matter what the color of the logo ... it's boldness always gets me and that's why I've painfully got this logo down to Number 57 and I really feel bad about it. I just a sucker for this logo and always will and that's the reason that I liked Hal Jordan ... Green Lantern who owns a ring that's rightfully called the "Most Powerful Weapon in the Universe" ... something like that. My memory isn't all that (regarding the Most Powerful Weapon ...) good about Comics these days ... but, I do know logos quite well and this one is a winner at Number 57. Later on, they re-designed it to this fashion (see picture below) and I felt that both of them are just as same - and yet, some people say that this one is better ... but, I don't because it's somewhat plain to me. Number 56 ... sometimes tomorrow ...

Number 55 and 56Both From Timely Comics/Marvel Comics This one is slightly (above) is slightly better than one on the bottom. Simple wins hands down here. I was reshuffling my order today and changed my mind in the last minute; to put the one from Timely Comics slightly ahead from the one from Marvel Comics. For your record, I consider these logos are a part of Marvel Comics and I felt that the one on top is slightly better because of the colors that they used to showcase his aquatic abilities. The colors of light mint green and light blue here is right on and spot on and I felt that this logo is the best of the two ... the bottom one with Prince Namor - The Sub Mariner is slightly worse than the one on top from Timely Comics. The reasons for both them are listed here as equals - the bottom is more variety because of the colors and I just like that one too. These logos were ranked in the teens at first and more and more that I've looked at them ... they went down to this position due to the fact that these logos are too plain and ordinary looking and looks very ancient because of the Golden Age Heritage. I've promised 56 today ... and you've got rewarded for a two for one ... and I've don't mind that one bit. 48 Logos down ... 54 to go ... The JLA Logo got promoted from placement 32 to placement 29 due to my reshuffling today and that's not a bad thing at all.

I think I like The Flash logo from Showcase #4 the best of those Flash logos. Yeah, I'd probably give that Human Torch logo you chose a slight edge over Firestorm, though they're pretty similar. The logos from The Human Torch Golden Age comics are OK, and that newer one is butt ugly. As far as Iceman, yes, that is a good logo, and much better than the one from Marvel Two-in-One #76.

Sorry to correct you. The top logo is what Marvel was using in the 2000's for Namor. That issue is the 70th anniversary issue. the second logo is from Namor's 60's series. The logo from Namor's 1940's Timely book looked like this:

The logo from Namor's 1940's Timely book looked like this: I understand what you are saying here ... but when I saw that cover for the 70th Anniversary ... I've think that logo is a valid logo and I've selected that logo for my countdown. To be brutally honest with you ... I've just don't know what to think about it and my knowledge of Marvel Comics after the year 2000 is totally ZIP. I haven't read any Marvel Comics Books from 2000 on and I prefer the various Marvel Masterworks and all that ... That 70th logo is a beauty of a find ... and the color of that logo is gorgeous and has that Golden Age appeal and I thought it was 2nd logo that they had in the Golden Age and seeing that 70th Anniversary Issue here ... I guess (to be honest here) I got fooled by it and I'm very disappointed in Marvel Comics to attach that logo to Timely Comics and making me believe it is. That's what I decided to include this logo in this countdown and according to you ... this logo is invalid and I've just don't know what to say about it and I've to blame Timely/Marvel Comics for making me believe it is. Shame on them!

@mechagodzilla I think the 70th anniversary logo is not invalid. Marvel used it through out the 2000's. I looked thru the logos Marvel used on Sub-Mariner through the decades & I think it is the best for all the reasons you listed!

I'm sorta like MechaGodzilla in that my knowledge of newer comics is just about zip, though I did collect new comics for about 8 months in 2008. Frankly, most stuff after the late 80's is not to my linking, though there has been the occasional exception.

Number 54Quasar From Marvel Comics The Cosmic Avenger is a part of the logo and very similar to Firestorm - The Nuclear Man and I feel that's an important part of the Logo. This logo is much better than the Avengers (see below) ... the reason is that the spacing and the letter "Q" makes it better and I like the line underneath it. Here's two examples of the logo unique perspective of why I like this logo ... the one with the white/light purple and the red one are excellent and that's one of the major reasons that this logo stands out for me ... the unique font, boldness, and very modern aspects of it - makes it a very unique logo to begin with. I think without the Cosmic Avenger is better ... just by looking at the Red Version at the bottom.
