Number 88Luke Cage - Hero for Hire - From Marvel Comics This is very relevant to me and I just wanted to let you know that this is a rare logo that many words works for me and I've wished they move the word FOR and stack the letters like this; F O R and places it on the left side of the letter "H" found on the 2nd row ... I'm okay with the colors and all and that's would had been a better logo and ranked a bit higher on my list. Bold, attracts attention to the buyer, and most of all it's a rare logo to me that many words is done just right. I just find it neatly done and the style of the lettering is just right for this particular character. Powerful and this makes a statement on its own merits and that's why I have him at Number #88. Clean and Professionally Done. A winner in my book.

Number 87Starfire From DC Comics I would had rate this higher if they eliminated the white elongated arrowhead and left it as it is. It's very bold, powerful, and dynamic. I seen these books in the mid-70's and I had a dear friend that loves this book and I read some of them when I was at his house during that time frame. It's eye-catching and makes a statement as well as it can be. I just very refreshing and I love the slating and the slight curves of the lettering from "S" to "E". The colors are just perfect ... Yellow Letters and that Bold Black Background that really makes the Yellow Letters Pop! I just wished that the white background arrow went away here ... but, its seems to add more appeal to the logo itself but ... I've think its was a symbol and I've might be wrong here. I don't know much about this Comic Book and my memory is a little vague; but it is a bold book to begin here and I do love that logo for all its worth. Starfire at Number 87 ... its still rocks and loved it anyway!

Number 86The Incredible Hulk From Marvel Comics Before that I share my opinion here, let's take a look at two covers now. In my days of going to LCS and everytime that I've picked up this comic book to either take a look at it and even possibly buying it. I always PREFER the logo on the right without that "MARVEL COMICS GROUP". That's the only one thing that I hate, absolutely hated Marvel Comics for doing that to that logo that I've liked so well and I didn't see enough of those logos in my lifetime. That's the main reason why the logo that I've selected is ranked so low and I can see it going as high at Number 75 or 76 on my countdown. I just loved the colors, the slanted letters going from Small to Large in progression and that's bode well in the character of Doctor Bruce Banner changing into the Incredible Hulk! It's a beauty of design and I love all of these logos - no matter what the colors are ... I've liked the Yellow One better because its attracts attention to me and of course comic books readers like all of us here. This one's a keeper and makes me wants to buy it ... I brought quite of few of them and they were perfect reading materials for long drives, camping trips, and what not. I'll do a couple more tomorrow to speeds things up and hopefully get more in by end of February. MARVEL COMICS GROUP ...These three words destroyed it and that's made it ... bad to the bone and that's why I have a problem with it.

Gotta disagree with you on this one Mecha.
I always liked that Marvel Comics Group banner across the top of their covers.

Perhaps my favorite aspect of the Wonder Woman logo is how the lettering used can't help but bring to mind her magic lasso. I'm still pretty surprised to see 'Action Comics' rank so low but upon reflection, it kind of makes sense. There's nothing about it that says 'SUPERMAN' other than the observer's knowledge that it was Superman's title. It doesn't really stand out when compared to a lot of the other logos of the time - ie. Adventure Comics, More Fun, Detective Comics (circa 1939), etc - but that Wonder Woman logo could be gibberish and it would still make you think of the character it's referencing.
One complaint I do have about that Action Comics logo is the way the bottom left of the 'A' and the top right of the 'N' just abruptly stops. It feels as if it should just continue until it hits the end of the cover but for whatever reason, it seems to hit some invisible wall.
Anyhow, keep 'em coming Mecha!

chadwilliam & pinkfloydsound17 ... I'm trying to keep my comments short and sweet to the point and doing the best I could and thanks for your compliments and all. I've got 85 to go and it's going to take me awhile to get it done. Remember, these are the ones that I've seen and most of them are iconic and I had to keep the ratings honest and impartial. Appreciate your support !!!

Number 85Shazam From DC Comics This is a fun logo and it's truly an unique logo for the World's Mightiest Mortal - Captain Marvel! and I've felt that this logo was really aimed to the youth of America and round the world also because its universally acceptable at first. It's bold, catchy, and its has a mind of its own. This is my favorite version of that logo and I've liked this logo whatever DC Comics decided to do with it. With that alone this became a favorite of mine for years and it's a really a sharp logo and "With One Magic Word" ... is a catchy little phrase that's symbolize Captain Marvel and that's why I felt it was a winner in my book. I just felt that I should had rate it higher for some members here and I just can't ... it's not designed for all youth and I remember that it's didn't sell to well for the 20 to 30 years old crowd back then. About that Cover of Captain Marvel and Isis ... I loved the two tone of Red and Yellow, its really makes jazzy and compliments the Costume of Captain Marvel as well. The words "The World's Mightiest Mortal" ... for some of you here, you can include that in the logo and I prefer either way ... I don't mind that at all. I can accept it or not. It's really a welcomed addition as well. Its acts like statement all of its own! Great logo by DC Comics at #85! ... #84 is coming your way in a couple hours from now and it's from DC Comics as well too.

Number 84Wonder Woman From DC Comics This logo is a very rare logo on this thread ... Why? It's a logo that blends both a LOGO and a SYMBOL in great harmony and when you look at it from a distance ... the Symbol ... the line with four stars and the W in the center is hardly noticeable to me and I don't pay much attention to that except the Words of "Wonder" and "Woman" that I'm really focusing on. The one thing that strikes me just right on the nose is the lettering and one of the coolest fonts that DC Comics ever created. This lettering style is just a classic one and one thing that I want all of you to pay attention to is the letters "E" and "A" in that logo. Its uses an upside-side down Triangle and that alone makes it really cool and very unique one indeed! That's why it's so rare to see a logo that incorporate the beauty of a logo, symbol, and the lettering of all words especially the "E" and "A" so nicely done! Modern, Bold, and Frankly one of the nicer one that DC Comics ever done! It's a Classic ... and rightly so!

@mechagodzilla sorry I haven't been able to keep up with this thread. This past week I have been pretty busy. Caught up today. Some of my thoughts:
Totally agree with your take on the Wonder Woman (#96) logo. Never thought of it being like her lasso!
Superboy. Yes the original was awesome. Great idea instead of being a copy of Superman's logo.
Hulk. Great assessment on the sizing of the letters. Never noticed that.
Shazam! One of my favorites! Nice cover with Isis on there.
Great job. Really enjoyed getting caught up with this thread. Keep up the good work.

Number 82 and Number 83X-Men From Marvel Comics One of the most popular logos in Marvel Comics and I've liked this logo for all its worth ... its was popularized by this cartoon shown in this You Tube Clip above you. I liked the simple bold design and its one of the most recognizable logos in comics today. I loved the yellow and the red logos that I shown right here. You just can't go wrong with it and some of them have the The Uncanny part as well and I've liked that to a lesser degree and but still works for me. From the distance it's a darn good and powerful logo that will stands forever in comicdom. Members at my Comic Book Store still talking about the cartoon, the books, and everything about the X-Men that they hold dear to. You've got to love this logo and I really feel bad having it at Number 82 and 83. To me, they are tied for my own sake. It's a winner and rightly so and it's a classic logo that's so freaking cool to look at. Here's a couple of covers that I liked when back in those days of reading X-Men Comic Books! X-Men logos shown here at Number 82 and 83! ... Number 81 coming up tomorrow and it's from DC Comics ... and a surprisingly pick from me.

Number 81Phantom Stranger From DC Comics I would never, ever accept this character at all because I'm through arguing members here about whether he's a member of the Justice League of America and let it go for the sake of harmony. I really do not know much about this character because in my mind he's not a Justice Leaguer. I have to let this go because and take the high road and accept it graciously and humbly accept him as a Justice Leaguer. I'm truly sorry about that. I looked at his logo here and I've to admit it is a great logo and has redeeming value of being a logo of polar opposite of light and dark and that's makes it totally unique from my own perspective. I find it very unique, offers an aura of mystery here and there, and most importantly its makes that character shines on its own. This logo that I provide a picture of the Phantom Stranger in his costume that has an aura of mystery and style and the color of his suit is a magnificent shade of dark blue that makes him very regal and the color scheme of white and black border and a lighter shade of blue in the word "Stranger" like this is the best logo that I can find and I prefer that one over the white and black one above you. I find it to have a yin yang effect here and it's works wonderfully for all that matters and its one of those logos that really shines and that's why I loved this logo for that reason alone. That's logo is really a cool logo to look at ... Tomorrow ... Number 80! 20 down and 80 to go ... its going to take awhile to Number 1!

Number 80Batgirl From DC Comics One of my favorites in the past few years and I just loved the colors and the design of it. The Purple surrounding the white letter and the Bat-Symbol makes this a totally radical and refreshing look of it. There are many versions of this logo and my favorite of them all is this one below me and one that I just shared with you because its so colorful, refreshing, and attractive too. This one truly has that Bat Family feel and the Purple and Gold kind of reminds me of Yvonne Craig Batgirl Costume and its appeal. It's beautiful, contemporary, stylish, and grace the cover quite well and matter of fact ... I've fell in love with it and that's whole beauty of this logo that I'm sharing right now. Of all the Batgirl Logos and this one is the only one on my list and I've appreciated DC Comics for incorporating the Purple just perfect and it's at Number 80 in my countdown.

Number 79Batman From DC Comics Bold, Striking, and Beautifully Designed for the Modern Era. Of all the Batman Logos after 1980 ... this is the best that I've seen. I loved the White Lettering and that perfect picture of Batman in the Background here. I do enjoy this Grant Morrison's version of Batman here as much as his Justice League of America of which I have the entire run of 127 books. I just fell in love with this version and doesn't matter what the logo look like in terms of coloring and all that because it's so powerfully dynamic that leaves me breathless just by looking at it. I just wanted to share my thoughts in a short and sweet way possible. Best Modern Logo of Batman ... hands down!
