Number 78Red Robin From DC Comics To be honest with all of you ... I had this logo as high as #45 and I've brought it down to Number 78 for a variety of reasons ... this logo has so many designs and colors combinations and I'm very, very disappointed in DC Comics for not sticking to the one that felt is the right one for this character. I even had the one on the bottom - Bright Red One is too darn obvious in my 50 rejects and more that I've think about it ... it's really an ugly logo to look at because of the design and the colors don't match. There is no logic and reason why they did this in the first place. Correction: The bottom red logo wasn't in my 50 rejects and that's how bad it is. That's why ... I was forced to accept the Black One instead ... the reason for that it is DC Comics decision to make the "O" a Robin-Like Symbol of which I find it to be a lame one because I had it at Number 45 and the symbol in the "O" brought it down to 78. Painfully that I say that ... I just felt in agony way possible that this logo needs to be revamped and perhaps that symbol can be removed somehow. I love everything else about this logo ... the lettering, the boldness, the dynamics of it, and most of all it's totally an unique logo that's you can't find anywhere in Comic Books today! This logo would had been the one that I've liked ... but for some reasons that it's didn't because I did not see much of them when I go to my LCS on a weekly basis ... Every Other Friday ... I visit the store and I just don't see it and/or noticed it ... but I loved the yellow symbol of a Robin in it and that's gives it contrast and color at the same time. Not an easy decision on it.

Number 76 and Number 77Hercules From (Top) DC Comics & (Bottom) Marvel Comics The top logo from DC Comics - resembled Power and the bottom from Marvel Comics resembled Strength and both served equally well and it's funny to see two logos from rival companies both commands equal footings in my list of best logos around. The words Unbound and Incredible ... has no impact on the logo itself ... but its has meaning and that's will explain later on.Hercules from DC ComicsHercules from Marvel ComicsI love the DC Comics because it's reeks Power by the positioning of the letters that makes it a magnificent logo and the word Unbound makes it real to me. The one from Marvel Comics with the brick lettering and the word Incredible makes it a statement about Strength and both of them have that theme from this old cartoon show in the 60's that I loved so much! Both of these comic books have that unmistakable theme from this cartoon and believe me it's also have that Steve Reeves fashions ... shown by the covers of these two books and that's why I liked these two logos equally well. Steve Reeves here is more closely resembled DC version but it's has that appeal from Marvel as well ... For DC Logo - Power, Authority, and Class ... because of the letters size Taller ... to shorter ... to Tall again. For Marvel Logo - Strength, Ability, and Overwhelming Might ... because of the colors and use of Bricks. When, I was young and loved these comic books so much and I just can't decide which one that I've liked and I ended up reading both of them equally with no judgment of which character that I've liked so well and they have that "Mighty Hercules" appeal and that's why they are both (logo-wise) on equal footing. I just can't have either one topping out ... both at 76 and 77 - EQUAL GROUNDS!

Love the inclusion of the Hercules' logos! I loved the DC series with Gerry Conway, Cary Bates, Jose Luis Garcia Lopez, Walt Simonson & Wally Wood. I also liked Marvel's various series but my favorite were the two called Prince of Power by Bob Layton. However the logos were not great.

I like the Wonder Woman logo - the font makes it look like it could be made of WW's magic lasso. The Detective Comics logos are very cool. I especially like the one at the top.

The #84 Wonder Woman logo is very sleek and stylish. Even better than the other one. The X-Men logo will always hold a special place in my heart. The Phantom Stranger logo is very cool, as is the Batman logo at #79. I like the Hercules Unbound logo better than that The Incredible Hercules one.

Number 75She Hulk From Marvel Comics Tales of two logos - When Savage She-Hulk first came out and I did not like the logo on the 1st Issue at all and I was very, very disappointed in it because it's did not make the cover any good at all ... when they did the 2nd Issue the logo was much, much better because the white logo enhance the cover because the white looks really good on the cover itself and the white ragged costume that she wears in all of her comic books that Marvel published during that time-frame. Red dulls the cover and her costume and made it too multi-colored and the yellow even made it unbearable for me to look at. While the White Logo and the Dark Blue background of the logo itself is hardly noticeable and that's why I prefer the white better than the red. All other Savage She-Hulk Logos that have other colors schemes and approaches ... but the one that I've selected is the best of the best. Sometimes you have to have the logo to coordinate with the costume itself and this one is a rare exception and you have to make it the primary logo for this character only. That's my take on Number 75.

Number 74Mighty Thor From Marvel Conics A classic logo for the ages and one of the most recognizable one indeed, the problem with this logo it is too ordinary but its a beautiful design logo for all its worth. The color of red with blue outlined is the only one of this kind that's work for me. One thing that really brought this logo down is the stupid, stupid, and more stupid decision on Marvel Comics is the fact that the words ... "The Mighty" should had been been SILVER in accordance of Thor's Helmet. Red - The Main Color of the Logo represents his RED CAPE Blue - The Secondary Color of the Logo represents his MAIN COSTUME in GENERAL The Mighty - Should had been SILVER than that icky YELLOW shown here and they used it in the way to coordinate his hair, belt, and boots. That's a poor decision to do so and I felt that they should had been SILVER in the first place. To me, what iconic about The Mighty Thor is his Red Cape 1st, his Helmet 2nd, and his two tone blue costume and that how I see it. My argument to Marvel Comics ... is the yellow of the logo that brought it down to Number 74.

Number 73The Avengers From Marvel Comics Sad, to say this logo is the only Avengers logo that I liked and the only one that cracked my top 100 list. I'm very disappointed in Marvel Comics for not having a decent logo for this group that includes Captain America, Iron Man, Giant Man/Ant Man with the Wonderful Wasp, the Incredible Hulk, and my last pick ... The Mighty Thor of which I felt it was their version of the Justice League of America. It's a shame that they did not do a good job on it and all that. For me alone, its iconic to a degree and nothing more of it. Red is the universally is the major color of the Avengers ... when you think about it and looking at this picture below ... you see a sea of red everywhere and that's one of the many reasons that I don't care about the Avengers at all. Of where the Justice League is more variety than the Avengers here and that's why I have a hard time dealing with it. Justice League Logo(s) have more variety and I have three of them that's ranked much higher than the Avengers and I have one of the JLA logo ranked at Number 4 on my list. The problem of the Avengers is that they never, ever respected the Hulk and he and the Sub Mariner had two epic battles in the early days of the Avengers and after that Space Phantom storyline ... Avengers went downhill very fast and I was bitter when they took off the Hulk off the team. When, this issue came out and I read this issue many times in my life and that issue tore my love of the Avengers and that why I have a hard time dealing with it. That's why ... it is so difficult for me to love a logo and when Captain America replaces the Hulk - I was torn and the logo itself got ranked so low because of the terrible infusion of red on that team and that a problem for me from the get go. I'm truly sorry Avengers Fans here and that's why I can't get past that and I loved the lettering style of that logo and that's a truly unique and iconic itself. The Color of Red ... is their weak selling point.

For shame MechaG! The 70's Avengers logo with the arrow in the A rules! It is was perfection and stylish and stood out in a more modern and creative way than the original logo ever did and is instantly recognizable. While i adore the original 60's styling it is the 70's version that has held up the best and has been re-used in various versions over the decades.

@mechagodzilla sorry to disagree. I felt the Hulk just didn't fit into a team like the Avengers. Capt America was a stroke of genius. He is a natural leader that commands respect & gave Marvel a sense of history. As far as logos I am partial to the 70's Avengers logo that brutalis mentioned. Can't wait to see your JLA logos!

While i adore the original 60's styling it is the 70's version that has held up the best and has been re-used in various versions over the decades. The reason that this logo don't do any justice is the fact ... the lettering and the word "The" is puny and I'm not disrespecting it and the problem of the color of RED bothers me. I just can't accept this logo at all. I did not see this logo and based on my reading habits and the problems of the Incredible Hulk and I understand that Captain America joined the team md62 and I do and totally respect Michael James comments of Captain America and the fact reminds that I did not read much of the Avengers when this logo came into place. From the distance and in a comic book store ... I've want to point this out ... that this logo is a blur to me and I just can't get past that and I have a difficult time enjoying it because the lettering of all the letters are a TIGHT SQUEEZE and that's bothers me a lot. This logo and I've checked ... it is not in my 50 rejects because of that reasons alone. This is a modern logo and I'm an old-fashioned guy and I respected the early days of the Silver Age and I did not read any Avengers Stories at all after 1970 and that point on because the group itself did not interest me at all. Correction: 1970 from 1990 ... my bad. I've agonized this decision and the fact the Avengers Movie this logo was used and its bothers me a lot and I'm truly sorry that this logo is not my cup of tea because of the reasons that I stated here. I studied art a great deal in my life and I have an acquired taste of things and that's the many reasons that I don't like this logo at all. I have to be accountable for the art, the spacing, the colors, and everything that I hold dear too. The Arrow that you are talking about is one of the positive thing about this logo and its not majestic enough to qualify for my list at all. According to the Internet and all that ... they consider this is a LOGO ... to me its a SYMBOL and I'm not talking about SYMBOLS at all. In my defense this is a CLASSIC SYMBOL. And, I do like it as SYMBOL because of the Round circle and the "A" has that short Arrow that I hardly see in the logo that you both loved so well. I'm a man in his upper 50's and I have to account for these reasons why I don't like the logo that you loved so well and that bothered me so well. It a matter of interpretation and I have studied LOGOS in business, clubs, and other groups and to me to qualify as a LOGO the logo has to be consisted of LETTERS and that logo that you loved so well and that circle, arrow, and whole nine yards ... looks like a SYMBOL and a LOGO at the same time and I just can't accept it all. Sorry about the long response here and I need to defend myself ...

@mechagodzilla you don't have to "defend" your opinions. This is your thread. I was just adding my opinion about Cap joining the team over the Hulk. As far as the logos I too usually prefer the 1960's logos but occasionally like the 70's ones more. I rarely like the more modern ones.
I really like this thread & find your observations interesting especially when it comes to colors, placement of words, etc. It allows me to see these logos that I have seen for 50 years in a new way. So thank you for that.
As far as the Avengers logo above that I like? I see where you are coming from. Yes it sort of all "blurs" together with it being one color & "pushed" together. Great observation. Although I still like the style.
And yeah that "A" is just a symbol not a logo.

Agree you need not "defend" any of your choices @mechagodzilla as they reflect your thoughts and opinions which are all valid for you. 1960's logo's had a lot of character and are fun and wonky at the same time. 70's and 80's went much more slick and stylized and more of a brand/recognition look that was readily seen so that they stood out from all of the comics in the stands where you may only see the logo and none of the cover as you flip the tops to view. My big collecting time was the mid to late 70's and early 80's so those are the logo's i most remember and cherish vividly.

I like the She-Hulk logo. It projects strength. The Thor logo is ok. Like Mechagodzilla says it's a bit ordinary, but hey, it's still iconic. The old school Avengers logo is OK. I also find that a bit ordinary. To be honest, I prefer the 70's Avengers logo.
