Can't believe he wasn't among the choices on the list or that anyone had picked him, but the first one that came to mind was John Byrne. I'm really going to have to think on this one. I only regret not including Kubert among the choices, I missed it with that. As for the others mentioned that I left off- I made the choice to not list artists that drew the very book that they were working on. So Aparo doesn't make the cut because he wasn't really used much to sell other books with his cover art. IMHO , I don't think Cooke qualifies because he didn't draw enough covers of different books. My thinking was that it had to be an artist used specifically to sell the book based on the cover drawing. Cardy and Neal Adams sold many a subpar book with their cover art without contributing to the interiors. There was a period where Starlin wrote Stormwwatch and drew the covers and I bought them just for the covers alone. The inside was dreck. Edit* Some great cover artists were before my time so I missed them too.

I love so many of these artists. Picking one I'm going with Steranko.

I voted Steranko and "Other", and I'm making Frank Brunner my second choice:
There are other artists who have done more great covers but they've also produced more duds, so it's Brunner's consistency that makes me go with him along with Steranko. By the same token, I could have picked Bernie Wrightson or perhaps Barry Windsor-Smith.

Just saw that you can pick two, so went with "other" for Infantino

Barry Smith is in the running for my #2. Of course always up for consideration, one Jacob Kurtzberg.

Considering we can do 2 and my first was other, I sued my second to cast a vote for my wife, she chose Alex Ross, who is among her favorite artists.
Among the other category I would also include Frazetta who had a lot of covers for Warren books, but rarely did interiors. He is bar none my favorite cover artist when it comes to paperbacks though, which he did more of than comics, but his covers for Creepy and/or Eerie for Warren would put him on the lis t of comic cover artists for me.

Hmm, still thinking on this as there's so many greats already on the list, but the first to come to find for me is Glenn Fabry.
Will add my 2nd soon.

The more I think of it, gotta go with Alex Ross
Second place would probably go to Bill Sienkiewicz

Such a hard poll to complete! I went with Steranko because for me everything he did was great. I also love Kubert, Adams and Cardy but I feel they had some ho hum work from time to time. Steranko in my opinion did not do enough but maybe that is why his work stands out so much now. He didn't get overused.

If Alex Ross did a Justice League of America and his first cover is similar to this picture and had a run of 100 or more comics ... i.e Grant (127 Comics) Morrison and had an excellent writer and all ... he would be my Number One Artist for the JLA. Absolutely Breathtaking ...
