(I didn't plan to read it so quickly, but so little happens in every installment that it's easy to just go on and read the next chapter. Also, I'd kind of like to get it back to the library as quickly as possible. I suspect it may be bad luck to have a copy of All-Star Batman and Robin in your house.)

The bat**** insanity of this series is almost enough to make me want to read this. But Jim Lee & modern Miller? Too strong reasons dissuading me from ever picking it up.

To be perfectly honest, you're not missing a thing. I'm a really big fan of Batman and I read a lot of commentary online about those stories I don't read, and sometimes I want to see for myself. I want to join in on critiquing (or praising) these high-profile comics. The one that everybody hates that I like is The Dark Knight Strikes Again. (My library has it and I check it out of the library every so often.) I think The Long Halloween is way over-rated. I like Hush well enough (but I think the two-part Hush appearance during "Faces of Evil" was a lot better). And I'm not sure that I've ever read any Grant Morrison Batman that I liked.

As much as I like Morrison, I think he's done a lot of damage overall to the Bat mythos, although I did love his story arc with the Club of Heroes (even though I preferred Lofficier's retcon of them as the 50s Global Guardians).

I actually kind of like Damian Wayne if somebody besides Morrison is writing him. I would love to see a story where Damian runs into Crazy Quilt.

I have the collection of All-Star Batman and Robin that has #1 to #9, and I finished it today. I don't have any desire to hunt up #10, but maybe I'll come across it some day.
The last few issues didn't seem as bad. They're still not very good. I actually kind of like teen Batgirl running around under Gordon's nose.
Also, the depiction of Hal Jordan was very amusing. Hal is my favorite Green Lantern, but I'm not blind to his faults, especially Silver Age Hal (or early Bronze Age Hal, which I think is who is being parodied here by Miller and Lee).
Every scene with the Joker was stupid. (But it was nice to see a Miller version of Catwoman that's not either a prostitute or a sad, dumpy, decrepit old lady.)
I'm guessing that the later chapters don't seem so bad mainly because you're sort of getting used to it. (Although the scene where Robin almost beats Hal to death because reasons is pretty darn dumb.)
I will be getting this back to the library as quickly as possible.
