Mego stealth released the first figure of 2019, not a wave but a single Target exclusive figure...an 8 inch Joe Namath commemorative figure... I think this is an example of what kind of stuff will remain Target exclusives while the rest of the line will be available through other retailers as well as Target. -M

Hmm seems some Targets in the wilds of Texas broke street date with Ali and they seemed ot have gotten snatched up by scalpers selling them on retail. Haven't seen or heard of them hitting the shelves anywhere outside Texas though, and I haven't heard where in Texas to narrow it down.

is it worth it to hunt the aisles? or just order from Target.com? (that's where i got my KISS ones) I've done both. Target.com has its issues with having some figures in stock and delays in listing certain figures. Shopping in store has other issues (each wave having the same DCPI for instance which means inventory stockers can't tell figures fro one wave from another and later waves can sit in the back not put out if earlier waves don't sell through), etc. Though figures have appeared in stores well befoore their street date and before they are available on Target.com in certain areas. Both online and in store have been a bit of a crapshoot to be honest, but moving forward, Mego won't be Target exclusive (though some figures like the Namath figure will be), and I am not sure how that will change the situation. My local Target is a couple towns over in a big retail corridor near where a lot of my local cons are held and down the road from my local Half Price Books, so I checked in store when I was over that way and I will make a trip to see what is in store when a wave was released. There are two others in the local area that I went to around the same time to check when m wife and I made a day of driving around visiting shops of interest, eating out, etc. but for the most part I relied on Target.com to get most of what I wanted. There's a vocal band of Mego collectors who want the experience of buying Mego off the shelves like when they were kids, but that is nostalgia fueled sentiment not an assessment of which is the better way to try to get the stuff. So I would just go the way that works better for you. I am waiting to see what other retailers will carry Mego and that will certainly affect my decision moving forward (if Wal Mart, Walgreens, Kohls or others carry them, I suddenly have retailers much closer to home in town to check rather than online. If Amazon carries them, I suddenly have an online retailer where I get free shipping and have lots of gift cards available as rewards from our bank that makes it less of an out of pocket expense to get them. So I am in wait and see mode as to how I proceed. The only new figure announced I am remotely interested in is the Ali, so I am waiting to see what else Wave 4 holds (though if the 14 inch Black Manta they showed the prototype from is in wave 4 I would get that). Sorry I couldn't give you a firm answer, it really depends on your situation and preferences. -M
