To those readers of Green Lantern/Green Lantern Corps (etc.). What are you favorite era(s) to read? Mine would be the 50's and the 60's -- a tie for the top two and the third would be the 80's with the (Annual) Tales of the Green Lantern Corps 1 to 3 would be my favorites stories in the 80's. Number 2 is very special story and it's involves Mogo. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll see if I can read up on those annuals, since the only Green Lantern comic books I am familiar with are the ones by Geoff Johns. from the middle of the 2000's.

G'nort Green Lantern I've mixed feelings about this Green Lantern for several reasons that I'll share with you. I felt that DC Comics did a tremendous disservice to him largely due to fact that they made him a joke sort of speak. I felt that he should never, ever became a member of the Darkstars and that's a no-no in my book and I've don't want to share my thoughts on that because it's will might upset members and guests of this forum. I felt that he was out of place in the Justice League Antarctica and I didn't really cared for it anyway. Back to my displeasure of DC Comics handling him -- to DC Comics he was incompetent, not a really great Green Lantern, he was somewhat disliked by several heroes and all that. Most importantly, many heroes didn't quite understand him and having said that -- that they didn't quite took him seriously and branded a "loser" and that's hurts me quite bit. I liked his enthusiasm and most importantly he's a Green Lantern without a sector. I felt that they should had given one of the four sector that Salaak had and possibly share another sector so that both of them are jointly responsible for the four sectors and that's should had the icing to make him more respectable member of the Green Lantern Corps. I felt that they should had done this. He's was used for comic alone (in a relief fashion) that I felt that he should not been given. That's a no-no in my book. Why, because DC Comics making him a fool and that's alone hurts his credibility as a Green Lantern and a member of the Green Lantern Corps. One of his best mission with the Justice League -- I don't recall what issue it was and my memory isn't all that good; but he did went to save Mister Miracle with Martian Manhunter and Big Barda, and one member of the Rocket Red of which I can't remember that name and save him from the joint villainy of Manga Khan and his hired killer Lobo. That's in my opinion was his best mission as a member of the Justice League. Anyway, I felt that he was fair Lantern to begin with and most importantly DC Comics should given him more respect and I really like him more than Salaak. But, I felt that he deserved more credit than a passing ring bearer of the Green Lantern Corps. His Grade as a Green Lantern -- C -- he pretty much an average Lantern as Best.Next Up -- The Planet Mogo!

What are your thoughts on the other Lanterns i.e. Red, Orange, Blue, etc ? Personally, I never, ever embraced this concept at all. I felt that Green is supposed to be all about the Will of the Mind and all that. Knowing that Sinestro (Green Lantern Enemy is Yellow, and Yellow is Fear) ... the Opposite of Fear is Trust, Courage, and Calm -- I prefer Courage over the remaining two words. Good - Will. Love. Hope, and Life. Bad - Fear, Rage, Greed, and Death. The rings of Love, Hope, Rage, and Greed should never, ever exist at all. To me, they are worthless rings in my book and that alone complicates things and that why I never, ever embrace the concept of the Infinity Stones in Marvel Comics either.DC Comics needs to simplify things -- Will and Fear and Life and Death should be the only rings around and that's why I feel about these rings. I never, ever cared for Red Lanterns, Orange Lanterns, Blue Lanterns, and any other Lanterns except Green. Yellow, White, and Black Lanterns. To me -- White and Black Lanterns should be very limited and quite rare in the Universe as we speak. In my mind, DC Comics should had simplified things - Green is Good and Yellow is Bad and that alone should be enough in my mind.

I usually like Geoff Johns' writing but IMO he overcomplicated the GL mythos with all the different colors. That is a problem with decades of stories. To "make their mark" modern writers want to add something which makes things more complicated (4 Robins, 3 Kid Flashes, Etc). The old mantra "keep it simple" works best for me.

This character is a comedy character and not to be taken seriously. If the story was serious, this GL would most likely end up dead. But as a sidebar comedy character, he can bring lightheartedness to what was a dark and moody series.

Green Lantern Rebirth was the first comic book I picked up in 2006 after an 18 years hiatus from reading comic books, and I was blown away, and continued to be impressed as he added a whole new gigantic wing in the Green Lantern Mythology by creating the color schemes and the underlying emotions that define them. And look at how many various spinoffs emerged from Geoff Johns' Green Lantern. There were over a dozen spinoffs. Even Batman didn't generate that many regular series spinoffs from his title.

Thanks for sharing that ... I've appreciate your thoughts here -- sabongero . No problem man. Geoff Johns' Green Lantern series is my favorite series of all time because that is what made me come back to reading comic books as an adult back in 2006 after an 18 year hiatus from having any interest in reading any comic books.

Mogo's ProfileFor the record, this Green Lantern is genderless and considered that because I felt that his place in the universe that DC Comics has its going that this Green Lantern is a loner. This Lantern is often refer as a male; but in my own judgment that this character should not be refer to as a Male because it is impossible because this is a planet and how you describe a planet as a he or a she and that's is a no-no in my book. I hate writers refer to him as a male and that irks me greatly. This Green Lantern is a certifiable loner and doesn't like anyone bothering him and not sociable enough to interact with anyone that matters to Mogo. This Green Lantern always avoid any contact whatsoever. In Wikipedia "It avoids announcing its presence, preferring to represent itself using pseudonymous holograms". I believe in that statement. In one story, involving Kyle Rayner and Guy Gardner -- this GL allowed them to rest on his planet surface and most of the Green Lantern had a hard time dealing with this particular Green Lantern and it's irritates Guy Gardner especially because he (Guy) made some remarks that bothers him and had a self-consciousness that made him somewhat frustrated and furious at the same time that I felt that Mogo was being a little selfish at times. Mogo is a complicated Green Lantern and that why this Lantern can be a difficult character to write for. He loves to train new Green Lanterns and that's kind of odd thing for this particular Lantern to do because he's doesn't socialize. Soranik Natu is one of them along with Kyle Rayner too. Soranik Natu One cool fact about Mogo -- from Wikipedia that Mogo is responsible for guiding Lantern power rings without users to those who can overcome great fear, and says that "without him, the rings are directionless". That's an enormous responsibility on this Green Lantern and that's why I like this Green Lantern very well. In New52 -- there were a storyline that Mogo saved Adam Strange and Starfire ship and that very commendable on the part of Mogo. I read that story a year ago and that's why I liked about this particular Green Lantern very well. Cool Picture of Mogo Grade of Mogo -- A Solid B.Next Up ... C'hp! ... That's later this week!
