Number 26 - MeraAlter Ego - Mera Team Affiliations - Aquaman and the Others Created by - Jack Miller Illustrated by - Nick Cardy Abilities Aquakinesis, Can increase density of water and then create any structure with it, Limited telepathy, Enhanced strength, Limited interdimensional travel to Dimension Aqua and Flight. Interesting Fact - Queen of Atlantis and Aquaman's Wife. Reason for Rank: For her limited role in DC Comics and having said that she is one of the most powerful superheroines around - I just wished that they do something about her and I really wanted her to be on the Justice League of America as a team player - but somehow they don't want to do it. One of the capable character ever, and most of all a breath of fresh air because I want her role to expand. Dear All - Number 25 to Number 1 - are all heavy hitters, popular heroes, and most of all pretty much sums up my limitations of reading comics. So, forgive me as I start the 2nd half of my Countdown and things will get very interesting from this point on.

I go back and forth on who my favorite member of Johns' JSA is, but I think it might be Stargirl.

Reason for Rank: Maxima later found herself reluctantly working with Brainiac who had destroyed Almerac with the Warworld. She turned against him, and helped Earth's heroes defeat him, subsequently joining a reformed Justice League for her own reasons. It was this Book (see above) got me hooked on her ever since and having said that I wished they do something about her really fast. I missed this fiery redhead and having said that she's a powerhouse to be reckon with. She earned my spot at Number 25.

got some catching up to do....
#27 STARGIRL Would she make my Top 50? No, but I do like her. I liked her even more when I discovered why Geoff Johns created her. She's a combo of two other characters I like, Starman and Star Spangled Kid.
#26 MERA Would she make my Top 50? No, but she's another character I like. I liked her power set as a kid and these days I think she could take a chair in the JLA. Aquaman and Mera sounds like a good comic title.
#25 MAXIMA Would she make my Top 50? No, I'm afraid I like the stories she's in a lot more than the character. I think she should show up in the Superman/ Wonder Woman comic in the New 52.
#24 MARY MARVEL Would she make my Top 50? No, but she's close. My favorite version of her may very well be the annoying little sister version found in Mike Kunkle's Billy Batson and the Magic of Shazam! series.
#23 ATOM Would he make my Top 50? Oh yes! He's well up in the top 20 and one of my favorite JLA members of all time. I love his smarts and science adventures. His costume is also a favorite of mine.
#22 GREEN ARROW Would he make my Top 50? No. He's probably in my bottom 10 of all time with the likes of Lobo and Wolverine. Great character, but I just can't stand his personality. My favorite version would be the Batman knock off version from the Batman and the Brave & the Bold cartoon.
#21 PLASTIC MAN Would he make my Top 50? Yes. He's solidly up there with his humor and power set. I even like him in a more serious setting such as All-Star Squadron.
#20 HUNTRESS (HELENA WAYNE) Would she make my Top 50? Another close call, but no. I really liked her stories on Earth 2 and I'm thrilled at her return for the New 52. The combination of the legacies of Batman and Catwoman is a great mix.

Low level hydrokinetic talents (some continuities), Enhanced swimming speed. Able to speak and understand any language on Earth thanks to telepathic abilities. Number 18 - FirestormAlter Ego - Ronnie Raymond and Martin Stein, Team Affiliations - Justice League of America Created by - Gerry Conway Illustrated by - Al Milgrom Abilities Firestorm has the ability to rearrange the atomic and subatomic structure of inorganic matter, rearranging subatomic particles to create objects of different atomic characteristics of equal mass. He can not only change and transmute the atomic composition of an object (e.g., transmuting lead into gold of equal mass) but he can also change its shape. He cannot, however, affect organic matter without painful, even lethal, feedback. This organic limitation does not extend to his person as he can change himself at will, allowing him to regenerate lost and damaged tissue, boost his immune system, shapeshift, and survive indefinitely without food, water and air. Much like a Green Lantern's limitations, Firestorm can only create items the "driver" of the Firestorm matrix is able to understand the workings of. Unlike a Green Lantern's creations, Firestorm's alterations are permanent unless he reverses them. Following Raymond's resurrection during Brightest Day, Firestorm gained the ability to switch "drivers" between Ronnie and Jason at will. Firestorm has also demonstrated the ability to fly at fantastic (but unmeasured) speeds, to render himself intangible and thereby pass through solid objects harmlessly, to generate destructive and concussive blasts of fusion energy from his hands, to absorb radiation harmlessly, and superhuman levels of strength and resistance to injury. Interesting Fact - The original Firestorm was distinguished by his integrated dual identity. High school student Ronnie Raymond and Nobel Prize-winning physicist Martin Stein were caught in a nuclear accident that allowed them to fuse into the "nuclear man" Firestorm. Due to Stein's being unconscious during the accident, Raymond was prominently in command of the Firestorm form with Stein a voice of reason inside his mind. Banter between the two was a hallmark of their adventures Initially Stein was completely ignorant of their dual identity, leaving him concerned about his unusual disappearances and blackouts, but Ronnie was eventually able to convince him of the truth, allowing them to bond as separate individuals rather than as parts of a whole. Reason for Rank: For his versatility and I was in awe when I was introduced in the Superfriends Cartoon Show back in 1984 and drawn into this fabulous character that has so many different powers that I was hooked ever since and he's one of the many reasons why I like the Satellite Era of the Justice League of America.
