The Hawks would be in my top 10 of DC characters, they would be the highest of the non-Mystical characters on the list, as DC mystics dominate my top 5.

Number 15 - BatgirlAlter Ego - Barbara Gordon Team Affiliations - Batman Family, Birds of Prey, Seven Soldiers of Victory, Suicide Squad, and Justice League of America. Created by - Gardner Fox Illustrated by - Carmine Infantino Abilities Highly skilled martial artist and detective, Genius-level intellect, Superb computer hacker Eidetic memory. Interesting Fact - Daughter of Police Commissioner James Gordon. Interesting Fact 2 - Schwartz stated that he had been asked to develop a new female character in order to attract a female viewership to the Batman television series of the 1960s. Executive producer William Dozier suggested that the new character would be the daughter of Gotham City's Police Commissioner James Gordon, and that she would adopt the identity of Batgirl. When Dozier and producer Howie Horowitz saw rough concept artwork of the new Batgirl by artist Carmine Infantino during a visit to DC offices, they optioned the character in a bid to help sell a third season to the ABC television network. Infantino reflected on the creation of Batgirl, stating "Bob Kane had had a Bat-Girl for about three stories in the ’50s but she had nothing to do with a bat. She was like a pesky girl version of Robin. Reason for Rank: Capable, smart, fearless, and most of all gave the Batman Family another dynamic character that can hold her own. I loved her in all adaptions - Cartoons, the 3rd Season of Batman, and most of all she did alright as Oracle later on.

Number 14 - Martian Manhunter and/or Jonn JonzzAlter Ego - J'onn J'onzz\John Jones Team Affiliations - Justice League of America, Justice League United, and Outsiders Created by - Joseph Samachson Illustrated by - Joe Certa Abilities Superhuman strength, speed, and endurance, Skilled detective, Shapeshifting, Invulnerability, Invisibility, Telekinesis, Intangibility, Flight, Telepathy, "Martian vision", Nine Senses, and Genius-level intellect Interesting Fact - The character is a green-skinned extraterrestrial humanoid from the planet Mars, who is pulled to earth by an experimental teleportation beam (originally presented as an attempted communication device) constructed by Dr. Saul Erdel. The Martian tells Erdel where he is from, and is told that to send him back will require the Computer Brain's thinking plot to be changed. The shock of the encounter kills Dr. Erdel and leaves J'onn with no method of returning home. Reason for Rank: One of the most lasting Justice League of America Members - Has been on so many incarnations it's laughable. I consider him as the heart and soul of the JLA and having said that - to me the JLA without the Manhunter from Mars is unthinkable. On a personal Note - I prefer to call him Jonn Jonzz

#19 AQUAMAN Would he make my Top 50? YES There are maybe five people on Earth that became a fan of Aquaman because of the Super Friends cartoon, I'm one of them. He's another who had a great reimagining in the Batman and the Brave & the Bold cartoon. I thought Geoff Johns did a great job with him and he's got a lot of enjoyable Silver Age stories as well.
#18 FIRESTORM Would he make my Top 50? NO, another JLA member destined for the Bottom 10. Putting this guy in the JLA irked me to no end and I hated it when he took over in the Super Friends cartoon as well. I admit he is a very good character and he was at one point on the fast track to being a top DC Comics star. I have no idea what happened in the last quarter century, but he has not lived up to his early potential.
#17 HAWKGIRL Would she make the Top 50? NO, but I like her almost as much as her husband(s) She's fine in the comics, but my favorite version would be the one from the Justice League cartoon. My favorite Hawkgirl fact is that she had her costumed debut in All-Star Comics #5, three issues before Wonder Woman.
#16 HAWKMAN Would either of them make my Top 50? right on the cut line and Katar is a little ahead of Carter Two different flavors of Hawkman and I like both of them as well as the Hawkworld version. I really like the costumes of the Hawks with the wings and the helmets.
#15 BATGIRL (BARBARA GORDON) Would she make the Top 50? YES, one lady down two to go! My favorite version is the Batman '66 one. The Year One mini series is my favorite Batgirl comic of all time. I also enjoyed her time as Oracle, but I was thrilled that Barbara was returned to the Batgirl role in the New 52.
#14 J'ONN J'ONZZ Would he make my Top 50? YES, he might even be my #14 as well. He's one of my favorite JLA members ever and he's pretty essential in all my favorite JLA origin stories. He's sort of a combination of my two favorite super heroes and I really liked him in the Justice League cartoon as well.

About Number 30, 29, and 28.Mister Miracle, Orion, and Big Barda - all products of Jack Kirby and when he came on board to DC COMICS I was stunned by his departure from Marvel Comics and these are his gems that he created and gave DC COMICS some touch of Marvel Comics by creating the NEW GODS, Lightray, Darkseid, and other memorable characters as well. I find his time at DC Comics to be one of my favorite times and I sorely miss those. Jack Kirby is one of my favorite creator of all time. And, one of the best of his craft. His Comic Books Covers are legendary and I loved them to death. Those were great days and epic reading material. Man, I clearly enjoy reading NEW GODS. That's why they are ranked 30, 29, and 28 and rightly so. I'm a big fan of these three heroes and when they joined the Justice League of America - I was was a very happy man. I just dig their costumes, their fighting style, and ingenuity. Number 27 will come tomorrow. These would probably be numbers 1, 2, & 3 on my list of top DC characters

Number 12 - The Flash - Jay GarrickAlter Ego - Jason Peter "Jay" Garrick Team Affiliations - Justice Society of America, All-Star Squadron, and Justice League of America Created by - Gardner Fox Illustrated by - Harry Lampert Abilities Ability to run at the speed of light, Superhumanly fast reflexes Augmented by the extra-dimensional Speed Force Interesting Fact - First Superhero bears the name of The Flash and one Barry Allen's Childhood Heroes as well. In 1956, DC Comics reinvented the Flash character, giving him a new costume, name, and background. Named Barry Allen, he was completely unrelated to Jay Garrick. In fact, Garrick never existed as far as the new books were concerned. Barry Allen's first appearance shows him reading a copy of Flash Comics, lamenting Garrick was "just a character some writer dreamed up" Reason for Rank: One of the founding members of the Justice Society of America and he's one of the most intelligent members around. I admire him for his honesty, his capabilities as a Superhero, and most of all he is a team player that I respect so much.

Number 11 - Green Lantern - Alan ScottAlter Ego - Alan Ladd Wellington Scott Team Affiliations - Justice Society of America, All-Star Squadron, Sentinels of Magic Created by - Bill Finger Illustrated by - Martin Nodall Abilities Skilled hand to hand combatant, Power ring grants: Flight, Green light projection, Invulnerability to any weapon not made of wood, Solid light constructs, Mystical tracking Longevity Interesting Fact - He also goes by the name of Sentinel. The original Green Lantern was created by a young struggling artist named Martin Nodell. Nodell mentions Richard Wagner's opera cycle The Ring of the Nibelung and the sight of a trainman's green railway lantern as his inspiration. After seeing this opera, Nodell sought to create a superhero who wielded a variety of magical powers from a magic ring, which he regularly recharged from a green lantern. Reason for Rank: I ranked him very high because of one reason and one reason alone because he has a very colorful and unique costume of Green, Red, Yellow, and Purple. But most of all he caught my fancy in the early days of comic reading and reading adventures from the Original Justice Society of America and All-Star Squadron fueled my interest of this bold and imaginative hero that stands tall in the history of DC Comics.

Number 10 - ZatannaAlter Ego - Zatanna Zatara Team Affiliations - Justice League of America, Sentinels of Magic, and Justice League Dark Created by - Gardner Fox Illustrated by - Murphy Anderson Abilities Skilled and powerful user of magic Interesting Fact - Zatanna is one of the most powerful sorceresses in the DC universe, whose abilities are apparently genetic. As a tribute to her father and as a focal point, she usually casts spells by speaking verbal commands backwards. Interesting Fact 2 - Her father is a stage magician that often practiced actual magic - her father name is Giovanni "John" Zatara. Reason for Rank: One of the savviest superheroine around and most of all one of the most experienced sorceress that worked some of the greatest heroes the world that ever known - The Justice League of America during the Satellite Era. Just like Alan Scott, her costume above is an eye-catching appeal and one of my favorite costumes in the Silver Age of Comics. Now, it's going to get really interesting ...
