I used to have Planet Comics #37 and 46. Many of the covers were by Lily Renee and I liked how #46 flipped the usual stereotyped hero saving the damsel in distress. Trina Robbins and her Go Girl collaborator Anne Timmons did a comic biography of Lily which I really enjoyed... I recently wish I'd kept those DC Mystery In Space comics circa 1980, I remember some nice Joe Kubert work and maybe some Jerry Grandenetti. Here's a Grandenetti page from a Time Warp... he did more war comics but I loved his style for sf stories.

There weren't that many 80s Mystery In Space comics. I bought the whole run (6 or so?)... comicvine.gamespot.com/mystery-in-space/4050-3034/Seven. .. on eBay dirt cheap and sewed them all together to make a book. There's some good stuff in there - but some real crap too.

From New Fun #3 (April 1935, DC Comics), apparently the first sci-fi comic book cover ever. Art by Clem Gretter.

Anyone remember Space Mouse? I remember him sometimes showing up in the comics, but I never saw an animated version... I always assumed there must have been some as it was Walter Lantz (who did Woody Woodpecker and Chilly Willy), but then I never saw any later Oswald Rabbit by Lantz, where he was chubbier and grey, so maybe some of these characters were just in comics?

Just gotta love Lou Fine!
Fine and L.B. Cole produced some of the most fantastic covers ever.
