Well, to be fair, Robert Downey jr's Stark was far different than the comics version--especially the Silver/Bronze Age Iron Man; the Falcon has none of the character origin from the comics, Ruffalo's Banner is a stammering mess unlike 99% of the comic versions of Banner--even in his nervous, early years (Incredible Hulk/Tales to Astonish), and of course, the Scarlet Witch (who cannot be called that...reasons) and Quicksilver have no background from their comic origins. Yes, I know the reason why, but the MCU has not been all that faithful to the source with their characters.
Not faithful in the details, agreed, but faithful to the spirit of the characters. DC's movies, Wonder Woman excepted, demonstrate zero understanding of the spirit of their characters, especially Superman.
Cei-U! All in my opinion, natch!
Also, The MCU is faithful to its own source material, which is the Ultimates line of Marvel comics. It's actually quite a bit toned down from Ultimates.

Looking at that cover and the pics, how is it that Marvel gets things consistently right and DC gives us Aqua-Bro? DC seems to have thought that Submariner was more interesting than their own Aquaman. Submariner in the 90s!If you can’t beat ‘em... join ‘em!

Finally got my copy of this issue in the mail this week. Good article that highlights the need, importance, and fun of Marvel's first female-led solo film. Occurring in the 90s allows for some nice call-outs like Fury's first meeting with Coulson, Ronan before he became an enraged Kree religious zealot working for Thanos. While they don't name Jude Law's character, his description as Commander of this Kree Starforce labels him as having the the near same level of devotion to the righteousness of Kree belief and action. It also doesn't appear to a straight-forward origin story. At the flim's beginning, Carol is already a member of the Starforce, has her powers, is known to be a Kree/human hybrid, she's the protege of Law's character and a mission takes the team back to Earth forcing Carol to deal with elements and mysteries of her past. Also of interest is the introduction of fellow Air Force pilot, Maria 'Photon' Rambeau who has a young daughter named Monica. Ben Mendelsohn plays the leader of the Skrull infiltrators whose apparently already invaded Earth at this time. Interestingly enough, the native voice of Skrulls carries something of an Australian accent.

Official Trailer.
1:21-Jude Law as Mar-Vell.
1:33 Colson, with hair!
Still no fin. Well, sort of; but, not enough to be totally awesome.
90s nostalgia; man I feel old.

Wildly unimpressed with that trailer. Wasn't expecting much from this one, and I'm rapidly down-grading my expectations

This is a poor early teaser to generate some interest in a new movie for a hero that nobody was really expecting or well known. It really does nothing to sell the concept or bring folks in. Hoping future trailers will prove a bit more fun and interesting. You would think Disney could learn something from lackluster trailers (like John Carter) and stop relying on the MARVEL brand to put people in the theaters. I'm not expecting a stinker as Marvel has pretty much shown they know what they are doing with their movies and yet with how big Wonder Woman went over why are they "underselling" Captain Marvel? Especially when she will be their 1st major female stand alone movie? The usual Corporate hands that don't think things through properly. Lets see her kicking some Skrull butt and standing loud and proud for crying out loud!!!

Anyone else laugh when they saw Blockbuster Video? Nothing hammers home the point this is set in the 90s like having the opening depict a Blockbuster video. They were a ubiquitous signpost of the pop culture of that decade. It immediately tells anyone watching, this is not happening now, which is a subtle, but brilliant storytelling technique to use for a trailer. Overall, I really liked the trailer a lot. It set up the character arc (Carol discovering her lost past on Earth) as well as the action plot (alien invasion of Earth), gave us something to tie it to the MCU (Fury & Coulson) we know, but visually inform us it's set in the past without the need for tired exposition interrupting the narration. -M

This is an origin story set up as a mystery, as no one (except we geeks) knows about her. When I watch this, I want to know why she fell to Earth, what was she doing in space in the first place, why does she punch that old lady on the bus, and why does she have the memory gaps? They even set it up with the "Discover...What Makes...Her (which morphs into A Hero)" script. They're being intentionally cryptic to draw you in, because it's not going to be the Carol Danvers/Ms. Marvel origin from the old Captain Marvel series that comic book fans know. I'm excited for it, both for myself and because I will be able to take my daughters to a female-led Marvel movie for the first time. They enjoyed Wonder Woman, even though they only had a passing knowledge about her, and as my older daughter has actually read most of the Silver/Bronze Age Captain Marvel series (I buy $5 Essentials for her when I find them, and she has the first two for CM), she already knows who Carol Danvers is.

It's okay -- but, not earth-shattering and it's doesn't appeal to me at all, so I'm passing on it based on the trailer alone. Unless, reviews are good and noteworthy.

Anyone else laugh when they saw Blockbuster Video? I want a scene of her walking through a mall, with a Merry-Go-Round store, Kay-Bee Hobby, Sam Goody Music, Waldenbooks, and an Orange Julius stand. Nirvana should be playing over the PA system.

I dunno whether "seen it all" fatigue has set in, but none of the recent crop have really done much for me (at least on initial watching - Infinity War has hugely grown on me after multiple watchings, and so, to a lesser extent has Thor 3, though I still think the first half of that film leans too far into humour) - so that's GotG2, Black Panther, Ant Man 2 were all meh; BvSWonder Woman, Suicide Squad, Justice League were all out terrible; Aquabro, Shazam trailers look awful and this trailer looks weak. Whereas in the past I might have given the benefit of doubt, I've been disappointed so many times now, that unless the trailer blows me away I'm just not getting any excitement. The last trailers that really worked for me were the Led Zep Thor 3 trailer and the 2nd Panther one, and I think both films dramatically suffered in comparison as the films didn't live up to the trailer. So, I guess, that not having an internet-breaking trailer is maybe not so bad, as it doesn't set expectations too high, but this one, for me, went too far the other way.
Having said that, there's a lot of positive reaction to the trailer out there, mostly from women - similar to the level of excitement to Wonder Woman and Black Panther, for their respective representational aspects.
I hope it turns out to be great, because it's going to be a real dollop of ice water on Avengers 4 if CM is supposed to be coming in a a/the saviour and her film has bombed, but I'm nervous because of all the weak films that have preceded it, and also because I don't think as a character she's ever had that good a book to hang the story on, no matter how much Marvel have tried to elevate her as their equivalent significance to DC's Wonder Woman
