Hi everyone, I went to the NYCCC show held in the Jacob Javits center in NYC yesterday ( Sunday). I took some pics and I thought I would share the day with my fellow forum members. Last Year sometime, I promised a 11 year old friend of mines son that I would take him to a show, he had never been before. So as time passed I forgot all about it until the mom called me around August to ask if I was planning to tale him to this years show. I have never attended NYCCC before , at least not this version. The only time I went to a NYC show was in 1994. I remember because Jack Kirby died that week. I picked them both u around 9 am ( the Sunday show hours were 10-5). We left Staten Island around 930 to a parking garage that I reserved about 5 blocks away from the center. I knew from past experience that even on a Sunday when the parking is fee, I would be driving round a long time looking for a spot. The garage cost 40 dollars. Walking to the center we saw people on the corners looking to buy tickets for the show. It was sold out, I believe all the days with the exception of the early Thursday date was sold out. There was a check point where all the attendees had to pass a check point with metal detectors . They also searched backpacks . Welcome to NYC. This is what some of the crowds looked like. This is my friend Mireya and her son Lenny and me. More to follow.

Walking into the JJC I saw many cosplay people. There are some really amazing costumes. There was really a huge amount of people dressed up. I'm not sure who everyone was supposed to be. Maybe someone can help me out.

First picture, woman on the left is Aquaman (could be Mera I guess, they have similar costumes, but looks like a gender-flipped Aquaman to me), on the right is a character from Westworld - forget the name.
Second picture is Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy.

The JJC is huge. I don't remember it being this colossus in 1994, but it was endless. I felt like I walked a few miles and the show occupied 3 floors. The bottom level had the artists alley and the presentations/ panels. The main upper level was where all the dealers were selling their various wares. They had gaming areas and stages on this floor that had live presentations

After wandering the upper level I decided to get down and serious and pick up comics. Unfortunately , comic dealers were pretty scarce. I remember seeing maybe 5 vendors selling comics , maybe less than 1% of the entire floor. . Anyway, I found one that had each book a dollar each and I picked these up: Sweet Christmas!

After getting those books, I wandered around and figure I better snap some pix- This young lady was handing out cards for a booth and I asked her politely if I could take a pic. Generally all the cosplay people love having their picture taken but I figured she was " On the job". She said yes. Over here is one happy family

My friend and her son got separated from me pretty quickly in the big crowd. As a matter of fact, we entered the place at about 10:30 and I didn't see them again until after 2 pm. They were gracious enough to share their pix: I saw this nun character walking around myself, but I was too cared to ask for a pic. Must be hot in that suit

More cosplay: This was one spectacular Black Panther costume. I'm not sure who these are supposed to be , but the woman's costume was amazing.

After wandering the upper level for a long while, I decided to find artist alley. After I purchased my tickets on line a few months ago ,I looked at their website to see which artists I could get signatures from. After deciding what I should bring I went to the lower level. Saw these kind people along the way- This was the classic LyndaCarter version of WW. This picture doesn't do her justice. I saw this young lady while walking downstairs and asked for a picture. Because this is an all ages forum I didn't take a picture from behind, but trust me , it left little to the imagination.

I definitely am more comic book-centric than movies and costumes, a con like that would be overwhelming. There used to be a reduced or free admission for coming in costume, but no lack of people into that now. Maybe I better get sewing while I am still able to wear a Dark Phoenix outfit without looking a prat? I can't decide if bow tie and white jacket guy is Matt Smith Doctor Who or Sean Connery 007. I'm probably wrong with both guesses.

Artist alley. The first person I ran into was Erik Larsen of Savage Dragon fame. Of course he made his name on the Spider-man title in Marvel previous to going to form Image comics with 6 other artists. Me and Erik These are the books he signed. The first is the very first Savage Dragon appearance and the smaller book is issue # 190. That book was an experiment by him and released both as a regular sized book and a small digest type version. I bought both when they came out.

Next up was Jon McCrea most famous for providing the art for Hitman with writer Garth Ennis. I had him sign Hitman #1 and the famous Superman issue of Hitman, # 34. Dopey me didn't take a picture with him.

Next was Joe Staton long time pro who co created E-man along with doing art for the big two for over 40 years. It made me a bit sad that he asked for a donation afterwards. I figured he wasn't anyone that was paid to appear and maybe he needed to make ends meet. I threw a few bucks in a jar that he had on his table.
