With the relaunch of the Mego corporation, I have spent a lot of time focused on Mego toys recently, so this week's contest is going to be focused on the same. Post a cover that features at least one character that was a toy produced by Mego either by the current Mego Corporation or by classic Mego. To start things off (and leave better known Megos to others), we have good ole Peg Bundy... and this cover... Showing the Mego figure is optional of course. If anyone has a question as to who appeared as a Mego figure, shoot me a line, but there is a pretty wide range of possibilities from the World's Greatest Super-Heroes line, to Apes, Trek, Micronauts, Conan, Tarzan, Happy Days, Charmed, etc. etc. - Post one classic cover that fits the theme of the contest. - Cover must be from a published comic book or collected volume published before October 2008. - Covers must be posted before voting begins. - Voting takes place on Tuesday, October 30th, 2018, beginning at 12:01am PST and ending at 11:59 am PST. - Vote by posting the name of the poster whose cover best fits the theme or that you simply like the most. - Put your choice's name in bold. - The winner of the contest is the entrant with the most votes after the voting period ends. - The winner chooses the theme for the next week's contest. - If you don't think the cover fits the theme, don't vote for it; please don't post disparaging remarks about it. - If a cover is more recent than the classic time frame, kindly point it out so that the poster can choose an alternate before voting begins. -M

I must admit I never felt the love for Mego figures. But I'm glad to get the chance to use this character: and my entry, this Brian Stelfreeze cover: That was gonna be a hard one for me to use in any other contest. This leaves me with a maximum of 43 more covers in this run of my secret personal cover contest challenge.

Like MW Gallaher, I never understood the ongoing fascination with these; I had a few of them when I was a kid, and pretty much forgot about them after virtually destroying them due to heavy use/play. But what the heck, to honor the first one I had: Here's my entry:

Batman #167, by Carmine Infantino and Murphy Anderson. As you can see, that 1964 illustration of Robin was used as licensing art for both the 8 and 12 inch Mego Robin packaging. Lots of great memories of this toy line.
