Still trying to process this sad news, but...
I know he was a ripe old age, and we all knew this day was probably coming sooner rather than later, but still... Stan "The Man" Lee was the last of the three Marvel greats still alive. He co-created so many of my all-time favourite fictional characters. As the mouthpiece of Marvel in the '60s and beyond, Lee was arguably more responsible than anyone for making the characters he co-created, like Spider-Man, the Incredible Hulk, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Daredevil, and Black Panther (to name just a few), as popular as they are today.
RIP and Excelsior!, Stan ... and thanks for all those great comics.

Stan has been part of my life since 1963. He enriched the lives of millions. Thank you, Stan, and rest in peace.

Yeah, I knew the guy couldn't live forever, but I secretly kind of hoped he would. RIP Stan, and Excelsior!

Wow, this really is the end of an era, huh? First Ditko and now Lee. The Marvel holy trinity is creating up in the clouds now. RIP Stan the Man.

Yeah, I knew the guy couldn't live forever, but I secretly kind of hoped he would. RIP Stan, and Excelsior! I maintain he was called home by The Watchers. This is my personal canon and I'm sticking to it.

The world will never be quite the same again, without Stan in it.

I hadn't heard about this until I got home from work, as my wife keeps a newsfeed running all day while she works from home.
This is obviously sad, but I don't have the same emotional bond with him because I wasn't born until 1973, so I didn't discover all of the incredible work that he did in the 60's until long after he had moved on from being a writer and was more of an ambassador. As folks know from my Captain America reviews, he had some quirks in his writing that I don't really dig, but it's impossible to downplay his immense impact on the comics medium, as he was the guy who wrote "human" characters that the everyman could relate to, and his output (not taking anything away from Kirby, Ditko, and the others in the early days of Marvel) is staggering. We're all here, by and large, because of him.
Excelsior, Stan. You will be missed, but never forgotten.

I've made an avatar of my top three cameos
Captain America First Avenger (2011) ... As the General and my Personal Favorite ...
I will leave it for awhile in his lasting memory ... Stan "Mr. Marvel Comics" Lee!

One of the few Elder Statesmen of comicdom, and by far the most recognizable.
He created something unique: the Mighty Marvel phenomenon, which was such an important aspect of my childhood and pretty much defined what American comics would be for a few generations. That is quite an achievement... not just helping tell good stories, but reshaping an entire field of pop culture. Respect, Mr. Lee!
Excelsior!

Ah, Stan. A shaper of so many young minds, whose boundless imagination and colorful prose forever cemented him to his readership as "The Man." Power and responsibility, the idea that a very young person can be a hero, that failures are to be overcome, that we are not defined by our shortcomings, that heroism is not the purview only of lantern-jawed men and Amazon women. These ideas are more than mere adolescent power fantasies. They are a philosophy.
I miss him already.

Stan Lee drew weird stuff or whatever such as giant monsters wearing speedos Stan Lee was a writer, Jack Kirby drew the monsters wearing shorts. Are you trolling? Because this isn't the thread to do that.

Stan Lee drew weird stuff or whatever such as giant monsters wearing speedos No, he didn't. He wasn't an artist. Are you drunk?
