im sure Stan Lee was a decent guy but he was stealing all the credits that other artists and writers did for comic books. Plus the media made it look like Stan Lee did all by himself

Rest in Peace Stan the Man. Hope you enjoy your well deserved retirement in Valhalla with all the other great ones of comic art and writing who we have lost over the years. Gonna be some damn fine comics being created in heaven for us all to enjoy one day!!!

Yeah, come on people...this sad news is obviously gonna be an extremely emotive subject. We all have our opinions of Stan Lee, I'm sure -- both positive and negative -- but let's have a little respect for the dead. The moderating staff don't censor people here unless they break the rules, but nonetheless, this might be a good time to observe the old saying, "if you can't say anything nice, don't say nothing at all." urrutiap, you might want to consider deleting your post, if only for the sake of forum harmony. Thanks.

^ ^ not cool. the man just passed, and contributed an immense amount to Comic Books, both the industry and the fandom. it's a shame the THIRD FREAKING post, craps on him. R.I.P. Mr. Lee. As a DC fan I couldn't understand why writers and artists weren't credited for their work in the stories they created - aside from Bob Kane's signature on every Batman story (something which even Siegel and Shuster didn't merit due to their previous lawsuit against the company), I had no idea who came up with these stories. Stan Lee however emblazoned his splash pages (and sometimes the covers too) with not only the artist's name, but the inker's, letterer's, and colorist's too. In other words, at the same time that the average Superman reader had no idea who Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster even was, Stan Lee saw to it that you knew who deserved the credit for lettering that month's Millie the Model. Again, I'm more of a DC guy than Marvel, but Stan Lee is probably the most important writer and creator the medium of comics ever had (with the possible exception of Jerry Siegel) and easily one of the greatest as well.

Aw no! That's terrible.
Always thought that Stan was weirdly under-rated as a writer - like I never heard anyone quite get how good he was in terms of pure craft.
God this is so sad.

He was the accidental ambassador of the whole comic book industry, a jovial uncle who seemed ready to pass you a buck so you could buy the candy bar your mother said was bad for your teeth. He will be missed. Hopefully they have some movie footage already in the can to insert him into Marvel movies forever.
