I went to see it this afternoon and enjoyed it for the most part. I felt let down at the beginning with the Captain Marvel deus ex machina and then... time travel? Bleh. But as it went on I got into it. Felt it was too silly at times, and not dark at all. On the plus side it didn't feel like it was 3 hours long and I didn't even have to go to the bathroom (probably because I didn't drink anything for a few hours beforehand).
Not sure if we can post detailed spoilers here so I won't say more yet.

Nice must read interview from The New York Times with Christopher Markus, and Stephen McFeely. They were the screenwriters for Endgame, along with Infinity War, the three Captain America films, and Thor: The Dark World. Spoilers obviously. www.nytimes.com/2019/04/29/movies/avengers-endgame-questions-and-answers.htmlInteresting hearing about the vision for the film, and even some of the ideas that got left out. Apparently in Infinity War they were thinking about including The Living Tribunal during the battle on Titan. Also, I guess they at least thought about including the Netflix characters in the final battle, but ultimately they felt it would be too difficult to explain their appearance.

IGN also had a great interview with Jim Starlin, who shared how he felt about the film. Great listen.

I wish my theater was like this at the end: That was such a great tribute. I was surprised that something like that would be so affecting.

Just got back from seeing it. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet - there were bits of it that got a big smile, and lots of it that were quite moving, but like Infinity War the cinema viewing didn't really blow me away. Don't get me wrong, it's a really good film - certainly up in the top tier of Marvel movies, but (again like IW), although I tried to damp it down, expectations were so high going into this (I actually felt quite nervous before it started). A couple of things: - As ever, masterful misdirection / outright lying in the trailers (at least in the ones that I saw - I stopped watching the trailers around the superbowl) - I called several of the plot points ahead of time - Cap going back to Peggy, Iron Man and Black Widow dying, Hawkeye's familiy - Big 3 Avengers v Thanos worked really well, arguably better than the mass brawl where there was so much going on - CGI as ever was so much better than DCEU that the DC films look laughable in comparison - Some good fan-service points - Cap with the Hammer, Professor Hulk, Hemsworth getting his shirt off as usual - Avengers Assemble is a really silly call to arms - I don't get why Cap can call lightning - that should be a function of Thor being thunder god, not holding Mjolnir

- I don't get why Cap can call lightning - that should be a function of Thor being thunder god, not holding Mjolnir Yeah I didn't get that either. It was just established in Ragnarok that the storm powers have nothing to do with the hammer.

It was just established in Ragnarok that the storm powers have nothing to do with the hammer. Chalk it up to Hollywood/Directors going for the most impressive visual aspect to punch up the moment. It is a HELL YEAH kind of moment made visually all the more spectacular with the lightning strikes. Don't let it freak you out and just enjoy the moment...

Just got back... definitely a great ending to this MCU cycle... and well set up for the next one, whatever they do.
I won't post any spoilers yet, but I am over the moon about the ending... it is just the way I would have wanted it if I wrote it.
The twists that once hasn't seen in the comics were actually the bits I enjoyed the most... I hope we see more original thinking and springboarding off the source and less remaking tired old stories in the future.
This from a guy who generally HATES time travel... but it was done pretty well here.

I just watched it and enjoyed it, for the most part. There are some logic flaws and some characters kind of get slim treatment; but, on the whole I thought it was a great film and a fine ending to the whole thing. I'm not a fan of time travel plots; but, it worked pretty well, here. Loved the Big Thorbowski. I was happy that there were liberal doses of humor, to offset the grimdark stuff. I have enjoyed the films that haven't been so darkly serious more than most of the others. It feels more like the comics, while still being true to the serious elements of the storylines. I dug the Ladies Night moment, when all of the women band together, during the climactic fight; reminded me of this...

Saw it this morning. Loved it. The marquee at our local cineplex read: Captain Marvel, Shazam, Avengers: End game, Long Shot (not that one). Squee-ed a bit seeing that.
I have to say, the decision to open the movie with Traffic's "Dear Mr. Fantasy" was a masterstroke. The lyric: "Do anything, take us out of this gloom, Sing a song, play guitar, make it snappy," ya know, in reference to "The Snap," well, that's just ingenious. If you'd given me a year to come up with it, I would have failed miserably.

Just saw it tonight; I was wondering how they (meaning everyone involved - directors, writers, actors, etc.) would top Infinity War, but damn, they delivered. It really packed some emotional punches, and I found quite satisfying as a whole. And yeah, when he appeared in that one scene, I actually shouted 'Jim Starlin!'

Back in 2008, if someone told you Iron Man would not only lead to two sequels, but to a string of 22 successful Marvel movies, with franchises for Captain America, Thor, Ant-Man, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel and a returning Spider-Man, and then a five hour long, two-movie epic adaption of Infinity Gauntlet, which would feature almost every major Marvel character except Daredevil, the X-Men and FF, and the latter movie would become the second (and maybe the number one) most successful movie of all time....people would have laughed at you.
I mean, I'm old enough to remember being excited by Thor and Daredevil turning up in the Incredible Hulk TV movies. Where we are now is a dream for comic fans. And the DC movies are competing now with the likes of Wonder Woman, Shazam! and Aquaman...
Amazing times.
