This one impacted a long running friendship between characters. Pre/Post Crisis - Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) and Green Arrow (Oliver Queen) are close friends. The friendship began when Oliver Queen took Hal Jordan on a trip of self discovery. The "Hard Travelin Heroes" era where both men became close friends who were almost like brothers in a sense. The friendship would run all the way through the years in the Justice League . Even when Hal turned bad in the 1990's , his friendship with Oliver was something he treasured and when he learned Ollie had died , he as Parallax managed to bring him back. If anything the Green Arrow/Green Lantern friendship was a big part of DC for 40 years. Post Flashpoint - Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) and Green Arrow (Oliver Queen) aren't friends. In the current new 52 , Hal Jordan and Oliver Queen aren't even talking much. In an issue of Justice League , Oliver Queen shows up and wants to join the team. The others aren't so keen on it and Hal Jordan mocks Oliver for using bows and arrows as a hero. That he doesn't have super powers. The era of the Hard Travelin Heroes no longer is there and this is a whole new setup for these once close friends.

This one actually involves the Wildstorm Imprint. Post Crisis - Team 7 is John Lynch , Marc Slayton (Backlash) , Cole Cash (Grifter) , Michael Cray (Deathblow) , Jackson Dane (Arclight) , Alex Fairchild and Christie Blaze .
Team 7 took place years earlier than the current Wildstorm Universe. A government black ops team , the group was sent on dangerous missions . This was the 8th actual Team incarnation with there being a Team 0. Post Flashpoint - Team 7 is John Lynch , Alex Fairchild , Dinah Lance , Kurt Lance , Amanda Waller , Cole Cash , and Slade Wilson Set 5 years ago during the rise of superheroes in the DC Universe , Team 7 is formed as a black ops team. Mixing DC and Wildstorm characters in this version. This version also features 2 big characters in Black Canary and Deathstroke from the DCU

This whole thread looks very interesting, superecwfan1, and will probably help me fill in the gaps in my knowledge between 2004 and 2011 when I read almost zero comics.
But I have to leave for a few hours so I'll have to look at it later.
Looks like you put in a lot of work on it! I don't know how I missed it at CBR. I must have thought it was something different.

Can I admit I have no clue what flashpoint is and ask about it. I know Crisis but not flashpoint 5 issue series summer 2011 which rebooted the DCU starting in Sept 2011. The new DCU was called the New52. All 52 titles launched with a new #1 including Action & Detective Comics...

Can I admit I have no clue what flashpoint is and ask about it. I know Crisis but not flashpoint Flashpoint was DC's big series that did what Crisis did 25+ years earlier. DC wanted to revamp some long standing characters (Superman , Wonder Woman and Green Arrow) and merge Vertigo and Wildstorm characters into DCU.

I was always a big fan of Earth-2 especially pre-crisis.I had high hopes that the new Earth-2 comic would be a book I could really enjoy. But as time goes on,its showcasing another depressing, gory place to live.At the same time as this Forever Evil thing going on,Earth-2 has another evil Superman killing people left and right for the past few months. The amount of characters getting killed or maimed is stunning

This rogue has had 3 different characters from the Pre-Crisis to Post Crisis to now Flashpoint. Post Crisis - Rudy Jones is a Janitor at S.T.A.R Labs and Daily Planet who becomes the Parasite . Rudy Jones in his 1st Post Crisis appearance was a janitor for S.T.A.R Labs who by Darkseid's urging opened a canister that contained some unique radiation. Darkseid knew about the Pre-Crisis Parasite and wanted to recreate the rogue with Jones. It worked and Jones for years would come back to battle Superman and others in the DC Universe. This changed in 2010 with "Superman : Secret Origin" as Rudy Jones was a janitor at the Daily Planet who won a 1 day lottery which Lex Luthor ran to change 1 persons life a day in Metropolis . Jones ate a donut that contained radiation and was turned into the Parasite. Post Flashpoint - Josua Michael Allen was a delivery boy who got caught by a giant Parasite during a battle with Superman Allen was a jerk of a bicycle delivery boy where none of the customers seemed to like him. On a delivery Superman is battling a giant Parasite who Allen comes into contact with. Its later that at S.T.A.R labs they unlock his powers and he is the new Parasite.

This one concerns a long lasting rogue and the change is pretty big. Pre/Post Crisis - The Flash has faced Gorilla Grodd many times in his history. Gorilla Grodd is one of the oldest Flash rogues (he debuted in 1959) and for years has returned to battle the 2nd Flash ; Barry Allen. Even when Barry died in Crisis , Grodd would return to face Wally West in the Post Crisis DCU when he was the Flash over the next 20+ years Post Flashpoint - The Flash only just faced Grodd recently for the 1st time ! In the Post Flashpoint DCU , Barry Allen had never faced Gorilla Grodd before. He is surprised to arrive at Gorilla City and soon battles Grodd once he tries to take over Keystone & Central Cities.

My least favorites have been the redesigns to Lobo, The Creeper and Harley Quinn. Also they should bring back Bibbo Bibbowski one of my favorite Superman supporting characters. Post Flashpoint - Stephanie Brown has never existed. Gone is Stephanie Brown. In fact it appears she has never existed in the post Flashpoint DCU. Actually she just made her new 52 debut in Batman Eternal where she discovers [spoil]that her father is the Cluemaster while he is in the meeting with other super villains! Although she hasn't suited up as The Spoiler yet.[/spoil]

The era of the Hard Travelin Heroes no longer is there and this is a whole new setup for these once close friends. This one is particularly aggravating because Green Lantern is one of two characters who went into the reboot unchanged. Geoff Johns was still on Green Latern, Peter Tomasi was still on Green Lantern Corps and they continued a fun that dates back to 2005. And the first arc of that run features Green Arrow as a main character. Even worse, the Blackest Night event had major consequences on the story and that was an arc that was focused on the continual deaths and revivals of DC's heroes. With all of that history now gone that arc can no longer have happpened, but it still has to have happened. Theres also the awkwardness of an issue of Green Lantern Corps showing the first meeting of Guy Gardner and Martian Manhunter and Guy having no idea who J'onn is, yet in Blackest Night J'onn was one of the Black Lanterns and Guy was present when he was revived. So if you read the story as a whole you see two different Martian Manhunters. I'm fine with reboots but I despise DC's attempt to have their cake and eat it.

Thanks for the summaries SuperE. Never got to see them previously and they certainly help me to understand the shenanigans going on at DC. Great job

I hate the changes to the Ollie Queen/Hal Jordan relationship. There friendship was probably one of my favorite things about the old DCU.

This is a unique one and what DC did with it. Post Crisis - Argus was a super hero named Nick Kelly . Nick Kelly was a federal agent who in 1993 was given super powers when super powered parasite attacked him (part of DC's Blood Pack 1993 Annuals) . Kelly got the ability to become totally invisible in shadow and to see far beyond the normal spectrum in microwaves and infrared. Argus would last years as part of the DCU and would appear in the late 2000's. Post Flashpoint - A.R.G.U.S is a secret agency that protects humanity from alien threats. In the post Flashpoint DCU , A.R.G.U.S is now a government agency headed by Amanda Waller. This group tries and contains alien threats that land on Earth. Most recently having Darkseid's daughter ...til she escaped (recently in Vibe).

This one actually involves the Teen Titans and a major rogue... Pre/Post Crisis - Grant Wilson (aka Ravager) died while attempting to kill the Teen Titans. Slade Wilson's son Grant , took the Ravager code name and took a contract from H.I.V.E to kill the Teen Titans. Grant died while trying to fulfill that contract and his father felt he owed it to his son to take it as Deathstroke. Post Flashpoint - Grant Wilson died on a mission with his father.
Grant Wilson worked with his father. Slade trusted his son the most and its why he worked with him on political missions. On one such mission Grant was killed in front of his father. This would make Slade change and he would never get his family involved .
