and it's Robert Pattinson. Not excited about this casting at all. but I guess I will wait and see. Nothing he has done thus far in his career has impressed me, and some of it I have found unwatchable, but he has sold tickets, so we'll see. -M

Wow. That's three Batman reboots in two decades. If you're not going to make the next one an absolute enduring classic from Decision #1, why even try?
Then again, I scoffed when Heath Ledger was announced to play The Joker for Dark Knight, so what the hell do I know?

Not even close and I don't approve of him being Batman. Lousy Pick and too much Gothic-Looking.

I know nothing of his work.
I did like Ben Affleck, and wish he had been given more movies. But I'll try and be glass half-full and appreciate the next stage in Batman's movie "career".

He always looked like he could use a bath. Not very familiar with his movies, just how unkempt he looked in pictures. Who knows, maybe he will be good.

I choose to just wait and see the movie and then make my judgement call. Not worth getting my knickers all knotted up worrying about it. Have other more important things to worry over like blood pressure and cholesterol and bowel movements...

Okay. Honestly I really can't be arsed to care because I'm burnt out on Batman in almost every medium. I certainly don't need another cinematic origin and an umpteenth iteration of The Joker (not to say that's what it will be...but it's probably a good bet).

I don't want another origin. Or Joker tale.
I'd like to see Man-Bat one day. And Catman (the whole hunter angle). I'd prefer to see a villain that has not yet been done in a live-action movie.

This is me being self-indulgent, but I'd want to see one of these villains in the next Batman movie:
Man-Bat Blockbuster Calendar Man Catman Kite-Man Ratcatcher Firefly
Especially Firefly!

Seems like yet another too-young actor but whatever...

Seems like yet another too-young actor but whatever... Michael Keaton was 37 (a few month shy of 38) when Batman was released in 1989. Val Kilmer was 35 when his Batman film came out. George Clooney was barely past his 36th birthday when Batman & Robin was released. Christian Bale was 31 when Batman Begins was released. Ben Affleck was 43 when Batman vs. Superman was released. Robert Pattinson would turn 35 a month before the currently scheduled release date of this Batman movie. So if this is considered a sequel to the previous DCEU films, then the age is off from Affleck. But if this is a reboot, then Pattinson is pretty consistent with the starting age of other Batman actors, and it's just Affleck who is the outlier.

The Hollywood Reporter reports the villains in the film will be Penguin and Catwoman, though as many as a half dozen villains could appear in some capacity. -M

Why are they revisiting old ground?
We've seen Penguin and Catwoman previously. Batman Returns, in my humble opinion, is a top-notch film.
Why not go down a different route, e.g. Firefly or Calendar Man?

Why not go down a different route, e.g. Firefly or Calendar Man? I would have to assume a big piece of it has to do with marketability of the movie. While hardcore fans might drool over the prospect of Catman or Firefly facing off against Bats, they need to sell tickets, and the casual fan would see one of those characters as the villain and ask "who, and why? Where's Joker or Two-Face or Bane or Riddler, or one of the other ones that we know? I'm not going if he's fighting some guy named after a failed Joss Whedon TV series."
