In my mind, this cover is the missing link between Golden Age "obsessed with Egypt" Carter Hall and modern spaceman Katar Hol. Chariots of the gods! It all makes so much sense now. Thanks, Marvel!

Interesting point, particularly from a period where you had people running around arguing the "ancient astronaut" (and similar) business, and mixing it with theories seemingly borrowed from 2001: A Space Odyssey. But this is a great selection from 1975. As always, Adams delivered the spectacular.

Dec 1966 - I almost went with the stone cold classic Eerie #8, and even considered the silliness of Haveys "Double-Dare Adventures #2" featuring B Man, but went with the Mighty Heroes - a cartoon much loved by young me. So beloved my friend Jay in 6th grade use to yell "Go Cuckoo Man, Go" at me. I don't think you read the rules, my good man. The theme is 1975.... find a cover with a 1975 release date. Try again

There are quite a few images I don't see weekly. I do ask on occasion, but it'd be unwieldy to ask all those I can't see. I find Imgur to be the best. Also worth mentioning is that some recent bureaucratic legislation (GDPR) means some images/sites may not show up in the UK. It's up to each person, of course, but a universal image-sharing site, that allows us to see all images, is the best one to use. Hotlinking costs the host site money for the bandwidth, which is why some sites don't allow it. I try to use commercial sites (like mycomicshop) rather than personal sites (like Mike's) when I hotlink for the contest for that reason. -M It really can't be prevented. I can do it with modperl using the referer variable perhaps... but that is hardly fullproof

I have a lot of nostalgia for this year, espcially the latter half, as that was the time I started getting back into comics in a big way after a a few years away from them.
BTW, this is the front cover to the same Marvel Treasury Edition the back cover of which I posted in the Definitive Character Images thread as an image of Dormammu (and Clea and Strange as well, but mainly Dormammu). It contains some outstanding stories and artwork from just about every era of Doctor Strange up to that point - Ditko, Everett, Marie Severin, Dan Adkins, Colan, and Brunner.

There are maybe five good covers on DC Comics that year. (Thanks, Ernie.) Really? 'Cause I'm seeing more than five covers done by Aparo alone, to say nothing of a number of beauties by Wrightson, Kaluta, etc. And to be honest, a few of the covers by Ernie aren't that bad either...
I have to agree. I was having a really hard time finding any standout covers for this year for either DC or Marvel.

There’s dozens of good covers but I try not to pick obvious fan favorites.

I was 11 in 1975 and over that summer, I started reading super-hero comics regularly, i.e. three or four a month, instead of just buying a few comics every year. Here's what I started with:
