Ugh, that's TERRIBLE! I'm really sorry to hear that. I can't believe they made off with 12 long boxes. Like you said, that's a lot of work and must have taken some time. I hope that lead turns up something. Unfortunately, it sounds like the police aren't taking it too seriously, but hopefully I'm wrong.

You have my deepest sympathies. I was burgled several years ago and the sense of invasion is something that it takes a long time to get over. Fortunately(?) my burglars were mostly after electronics, so my comic collection was left alone. However, they did take a large chunk of my DVD collection.
I can't really add much to what has already been expressed, save to hope that your friend rally round you as mind did around me following the break-in.

So sorry, brutalis. Makes me sick to think about your home being broken into for any reason, but this... That's an awfully large load of collectibles to try to sell to a shop. Have you thought of looking on-line to see if any choice items are being sold? I wish we could help in some other way than this. Good luck with the clean-up and the aftermath.

Terrible, just terrible. Those cops should get off their box of donuts and do the job they're hired for.

OMG Brutalis I am so sorry to hear about this !
Thankfully no one was hurt. Hopefully you have insurance that can replace what was lost.
A duplex I was temporarily renting just out of college got broken into and they took a couple of the very few things I had, so I sort of know how you're feeling, which is terrible.
I just can't believe people. Sending positive thoughts your way buddy.

Just seen this. Man, that's terrible. I felt awful just reading your post, brutalis -- God knows what you must be feeling. There's not much I can really say that'd be of any use, and I'm shocked at the police's nonchalant reaction to it all.
Hopefully some of your stuff can be recovered, but it's the sense of invasion as much as anything, isn't it? That feeling that your home, your safe space, has been violated. My wife and I had our house attacked a couple of years back by a mentally unbalanced friend, and that still sticks in our minds even now...wondering if it might happen again. So, I can sort of imagine what it must feel like for you, though your situation is much worse than what happened to us.
I am really sorry to hear that this has happened to you though. Stay strong and I'll be thinking of you.

Update time: Friday I received email notice an Amazon pre-order book was being delivered over the weekend. It came Sunday as I was taking a nap from 11:30am to 1:30pm or so. Woke up to find my screen door was blocked with an old broomstick that was stuck into the wooden porch fencing between it and the door, effectively keeping it shut. I had to go out through the back and unlock my side gate and found the Amazon Manilla envelope was ripped open and left with the book taken. Was a nearly 3 hour wait for a police officer to arrive and take details. Explained about the theft from the week before but he knew nothing about it other than to look up on his computer and verify it.
This Monday morning at 4:00am I was awakened by my neighbors yapping dogs so to hearing muffled voice(s) and thumping around outside my glass back sliding door. I immediately called 911 and 27 minutes later 2 police arrived. While wating I could hear the thief(s) escaping by climbing over my locked side gate which goes into my driveway where my car was parked. When police arrived I explained the 2 prior robberies and waking to the noises and told them both my front and back porch lights where on as well as my inside kitchen light. When they looked around there was a big wooden block of wood somebody brought to use for climbing over the gate, my storage room door was open and my back sliding screen door was open: all proof that someone had been there.
Have a home repairman/handyman coming today to install some remote/sensor alarms and floodlights to the front and back. Nothing like living life in the city. Early retirement and moving to Colorado with a friend and his mom where the nearest neighbors are a mile away is beginning to sound like a really great idea...

27 Minutes for the Police to come out to investigate ... would be unacceptable and I just don't know what to say about this and I'm so sorry that you've continue to have these problems.

So sorry, brutalis. You must feel as if you're under siege. Hang in there.

That is crazy. It seems that they saw other things in the house that they didn't take the first time and thought it was ripe pickings for a repeat visit. Nuts!

Geez, the news keeps getting worse. It's like a crime spree limited solely to your place. At this point, you'd think that the cops would have stepped up, but apparently not.

Update on the Sunday Amazon theft. Yesterday my next door neighbor found the 2 books along the side of his house next to his camping trailer. Evidently the thief(s) were pissed off because they were books and tossed them aside as worthless.
