So am I finding the series entertaining enough so far but three episodes in and I'm disappointed that we haven't been able to get away from the "villain of the week" trope. I understand that a superpowered hero needs to have superpowered villains in order to challenge him, but would it kill them to mix it up a bit and have some non-superpowered threats between the metahuman ones? It took Smallville three seasons to escape the CW inspired Kryptonite freak of the week syndrome. Hopefully Flash can escape it's particle accelerator created metahuman freak of the week syndrome faster, but not holding my breath. Luckily there is enough going on elsewhere in the show to make it interesting enough to watch each week. -M

Smallville had a good run, and I count myself among its fans (albeit, I was a conflicted fan, but a fan nonetheless), but even among fans there was a common complaint that the meteor freak-of-the-week got old pretty quickly. I think that there are ways to come up with different challenges to super powered heroes without having to resort to disposable super-powered threats. Evidently, the Flash's speed powers haven't enabled to dodge punches at superspeed, so he can still get beat up by normal humans.

Show runners are still at the mercy of network execs, and when they look at what made Smallville successful, i.e. built its audience to its highest levels, it was the freak of the week episodes despite the vocal minority complaining against them, that's what folks tuned in to see, and if that's what network execs want to see, then showrunners have to give them that or there are new showrunners next season if there is a next season. -M

I am looking forward to seeing where they go with Katilyn Snow's storyline. I wonder if she will become Killer Frost? or continue to just be a really great supporting character?
I am enjoying every character on the show so far. Really great series.

Episode 4 "Going Rogue" was fun. The truck heist scene at the beginning and the train scene at the end were cool. I thought the casting of Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold was pretty good and he looked great using the cold gun especially wearing the jacket and hood. Emily Bett Rickards looked amazing in that dress during their double date. Not sure I like Sisko being the one to invent the cold gun though. Tom Cavanagh is great at being subtlety creepy. Nice Heat Wave tease at the end of the episode.

Best episode yet perhaps. Felicity actress and character just seems to improve everything.

I loved it. It looks like Cisco's been drinking Batman's Punch (Plan for the occasion when those with Powers will use their gifts for evil) Barry showing his powers off for Felicity (Kind of like how Jay Garrick used to use his powers for fun in the Golden Age) The Conversation/radio gag with Joe and Eddie. Hoping they drop "The Streak soon. The Menace Wells showed when he warned Cisco against creating weapons. noticing that the controls on the Treadmill are now more closely resembling those on the Classic Cosmic Treadmill in the old Comics (Really need a replacement for the one I lost in the move (came in Silver Age Box set)

I enjoyed this...I love they casting of Captain Cold(the you really have to stop naming these guys line was hysterical). He played it well and just some so "cold" in his personality. Nice touch that he and who will be Heatwave have worked together before.
And what's this deep dark secret Wells is harboring as to make sure Barry is protected at all costs. What actually is his connection...so much speculation the internet.

Oh and did anyone read the news who Barry's new love interest will be..........
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * Linda Park. Now I'm not sure if I like that as Linda was Wally West love in the comics historically.

This Linda's too old for Wally...maybe they'll pull a Smallville Jimmy Olsen and she'll have a younger relative also named Linda.

Episode 5 "Plastique" Enjoyed seeing Barry run up the side of a building. Nice to see Clancy Brown show up as General Eiling. Starting to like Candice Patton as Iris. Dr. Wells really knows how to manipulate people. I have a feeling when he's exposed as a villain it will be epic. Plastique was pretty cool. The scene with Barry running over the water was awesome. I got the feeling from their conversations that Iris already suspects Barry of being The Streak. Great Grodd tease at the end!

Another winner, I just can't wait for each episode. The special effects really look good and the anticipation for certain unveilings is killing me.
