This thread contains a two-part question. Who is your favorite comic character and what is their worst costume? My favorite comic character is Wonder Woman. She's had various looks over the years, debuting in her star-spangled outfit. Later she lost her powers and costume and became secret agent Diana Prince. After regaining her powers back, she sported a slightly modified version of the star-spangled suit which changed slightly through the next few decades. In the 90s, came the leather-biker suit after Diana lost the title of Wonder Woman to artemis. After gaining her title and costume back, she again incurred a few slight redesigns over the next decade until the Odyssey storyline where she received a Jim Lee revamp which was hit or miss with most folks. Her costume was significantly altered again once the New 52 started. Also along the way have been various Elseworlds and alternate earth takes on Wonder Woman with various costumes to boot. After considering them all, Wonder Woman's worst costume has to be: The dark, black leather and over-esposure of skin just don't align with what Wonder Woman was created to be about IMO. She looks more like a dominatrix than a champion of peace and equality. Another horrendous decision from the 90s!

I was never a fan of the all-black Batman costume from the late 90's. (I don't count the Knightfall armor because it was so bad that it makes most Rob Liefeld designs look inspired by comparison.)
As for the Hulk...that clown outfit from Avengers #1 just wasn't meant to stick, I'm afraid.

My favorite character is Jay Garrick, the original Flash. His worst costume is (ahem)... By the way, Donna Troy is in my top 20 favorites. I would LOVE to do an entire thread on her worst costumes.

I've always liked that look for Strange. Not as much as his classic look, mind you, but I do like it.
Cei-U! I summon the dissenting opinion!

I like Jay Garrick's new costume quite a bit but I also like his old one a lot as well. As for Donna Troy, she has had quite a few bad costumes, most notably her first few Troia costumes. Other characters that could have their own threads of bad costumes is Power Girl and Black Canary.

I must admit that I've always like this 1996 redesign. I prefer the classic, but this would be a nice movie alternative.

I didn't think it could get much worse than Namor's 70s duds. Then came Avengers Vs. X-Men and this hideous Freddie Mercury / Loverboy mash-up:

One of my favorite character is Zatanna and she's in my top 10 (actually she Number 10) in my Countdown in my 50 Greatest DC Comics Heroes. What they were thinking when they did this to her? ... I just can't stand this costume at all.

Well, I go DC and Marvel, as I have a favorite in each universe
Marvel: WASP Now I love about 95% of her costume changes throughout the years; from the Kirby design to the Perez white and blue to the Byrne classic of the 80s to the amazing Pacheco design, she's always fashionable, but in the mid 90s, during the era of Marvel's attempt of Image-izing everything, Janet Van Dyne turning in a wasp...literally. It was so freaking lame and her look was horrible.
DC: The Spectre Bailey & Siegel's look is iconic and it hadn't changed in ages, like the old Penn State uniforms. You know who the character was, simple and effective. But when DC shook things up, and Ostrander put Corrigan to rest, DC needed a new Emerald ghoul. Enter Hal Jordan. While it's not as bad the Wasp above, its a weak looking costume. Basically it's a Green Lantern costume with mystic green flames and a green domino mask.

Another one would be Maxima - how in the world of DC Comics were thinking when they did this to her? ... I even had to ask my dear friend Jeff who runs a Comic Book Store - who this? ... He said "Maxima" and I literally flipped when he said that to me!
