Finally had a chance to really sit down and do some computer stuff tonight after dinner, so I wanted to get my Secret Santa stuff up and documented for posterity. The Saturday before Christmas, a package arrived at my house. I was out most of the day, but when I got home, I couldn't wait, so I tore into it and found this little beauty: I had no idea this book even existed. The story is Neal Adams' take on classic monsters, and there are all kinds of sketches and commentary in the back about other work he's done, including some really sweet Man-Thing drawings and a cover gallery of some of the magazine covers he did for Marvel back in the 70. I was super-excited to get something brand new from a true master of the medium and was thankful for my Secret Santa for being so thoughtful. A couple of days later, my older daughter went out for the mail and said there was another package for me, which I thought was odd. Opening it up, I came face-to-face with: Whaaaaaat? Second present from Santa in the form of early Bronze Age Batman goodness? I've been OK this year, maybe a little bit above neutral, but I got treated like I was top of the Nice List! I've already gotten into this one a little bit, and I like that they put the Batman and Detective Comics stories chronologically, as it's an entire year's worth of issues in one place. So far, I think I like the Batman stories better, as the Detective ones are a weird hodge-podge of supernatural-flavored tales that, while interesting and well-drawn, aren't really "Batman" to me. Thanks Santa!!

Marvel was kind of ahead of the curve with that series... My Super Secret Santa Gift came today all European and everything !
You're gonna love that. Monster, along with a number of other strips from Britain's Scream! comic, were among my absolute favourites as a kid. I have that TPB collection and I'm pleased to say that it holds up very well to adult eyes.

Alrighty then, it's New Year's Day, and I think we are almost a wrap. If you haven't had a chance to post pics or a few words about what you got, please take a minute to do so if you can. Part of the joy of giving gifts is seeing the reaction of the recipient opening the, but since this is not done in person, pics/posts are all we have, so if you have a minute to post, please do so.
It's been a pleasure as always, and I hope people consider participating again.

Yes, thanks for doing this, mrp. I must say I do find it disappointing that not everyone posted what they received as (for me) that's the true fun of this experience, but it certainly wasn't for lack of effort on your part.

Yes, thank you, mrp.
In addition to the event itself, well I was quite excited sending post to the United States. And receiving post. Last time I sent mail there was the mid-90s (fan mail to World Championship Wrestling). It's quite exciting shipping something across the Atlantic. And receiving something.
US postcodes (they call them zipcodes, right?) are weird, though. How do you expect your postmen/women to find your addresses with weird zipcodes like you guys have? Mind you, what can you expect from a nation filled with people who can't even put their steering wheels in the correct side of the car...

PS: Do we ever find out our Santa’s secret identity?
