I went with Sal Buscema, Curt Swan and Rich Buckler as my " other". I picked artists that were able to jump in to do fill ins with high quality.

I also voted "Other". Does Ross Andru count?

Interesting that you would say that, didn't Sal draw Spider-man in many different series over the years?

I was thinking "Other" for Keith Pollard but Mooney edged him out.

There are lots that I considered but put aside as they were more of the sort who did an occasional fill-in but were more readily considered as "favorites" who were known more for doing regular artistry on series. Aparo, Andru, Pollard, Zeck, Kubert, John Buscema and such artists kind of fall into that category. But anyone can fall under the "other" category as you desire!
I almost included inkers, but that can be a whole other poll in awhile: Vince Colletta, Klaus Janson, Joe Sinnott, Mike Esposito, Jack Abel, lots of Filipino artists like Alcala, Nebres, Taloac and others who were dependable and reliable inkers capable of quickly and efficiently cleaning/enhancing/covering up newbie artists or quickly rendering their talents literally overnight at times.

Being a child of the 90s, Mark Bagley was the first name that popped into my head when I saw the topic title. Not a huge fan of his art, but guy can certainly crank out the pages.

I didn't realize there might be people who would ridicule Curt Swan's art or regard him as a lesser talent. But he gets my vote, along with Sal Buscema, who, along with brother John and John Romita, effectively defined Marvel comics for me in the 1970s.

Although Sal Buscema could not draw the Spider-Man "wolrld" as it should be even if his life depended on it. Interesting that you would say that, didn't Sal draw Spider-man in many different series over the years? He did; for example, he was the first artist for Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man (#1, 12/76 - #20, 7/78), but his work--particularly in the 70s, where Spider-Man's essence & popularity was inexorably tied to an image/world-building illustrated by Romita (and/or Kane), did not fit that established look. His Parker/Spider-Man was rough, never having the athletic, dynamic range of Romita's, because Sal Buscema'a type of work was better suited for other titles / types of characters he worked on, such as The Defenders.

That is a lot of votes for Sal Buscema who was always just kind of predictably adequate. (At least until 1990 or so.)

Not calling Sal B. a bad artist per se, but everyone else on the list (at their best) was better than anything I've seen from Sal. B - unless the inker came by with a trowel and just completely overpowered/improved Sal's pencils.

I guess I interpreted the original question to be , who can jump in as a fill in artist and give you a real nice job. Sal always had solid storytelling abilities that far surpassed people like Don Perlin and some of the others.

I also voted "Other". Does Ross Andru count? I wold say yes, and he's a good choice. A couple of other people mentioned Keith Pollard and I think he's another very good choice.
