Number 25 - Jean GreyAlter Ego - Jean Grey-Summers Team Affiliations - X-Men Family - Exclusively Created by - Stan Lee Illustrated by - Jack Kirby AbilitiesTelekinesis, Telepathy, Mind reading and control, Memory alteration and erasure, Mental bolts, Psionic blasts, Induced paralysis, Astral projection, Eidetic memory Interesting Fact - Created by writer Stan Lee and artist/co-writer Jack Kirby, Jean first appeared as Marvel Girl in X-Men #1 (September 1963). As the original team's sole female member, Marvel Girl was a regular part of the team through the series' publication. Initially possessing the ability of telekinesis, the character was later granted the power of telepathy, which would be retconned years later as a suppressed mutant ability. She began a relationship with Scott Summers, which persisted as her main romantic relationship throughout the X-Men franchise, though she would also harbor a secret attraction to teammate Wolverine. Familiarity Rating - 10 Reason for Rank: As Marvel Girl, one of the most well-rounded X-Men in the early days of the X-Men. Gifted, Dedicated, and always strive to her very best. She always remains a favorite of mine for the early days of the X-Men. As Phoenix, pictured below I don't care for this character at all, and I don't want to be bothered with her and I wished Marvel Comics did not created this character in the first place. It's destroyed all my love for Marvel Girl period.

If your familiarity scale is on a 1-10 scale, 10 is way too high for Warren in any identity, and his Archangel score would be at least equal, if not higher than his Angel score. The highest demand Angel-centric issue in the back issue market right now is X-Factor 24 where he becomes Archangel. So while you may not like that identity, it is one that is more prominent in the current market than Angel. -M He stated in the first post that the familiarity is based on his familiarity, not that of comic fans at large.

Number 26 - CyclopsReason for Rank: A Superhero with a troubled past, great Leader for the X-Men, and very loyal to Hank McCoy a.k.a The Beast. One of the founding members of the X-Men and when I think of the X-Men he and the Professor X, Charles Xavier are the first two that comes into my mind, Gifted Strategist and one of the smartest Superhero around. He and Hank McCoy usually prepares for X-Men to battle. I always liked Cyclops, even if I deeply hate that uniform. (But since it's the one he wore on TV, I guess it's one that's most familiar with a whole generation of readers... just like Wolverine's silly yellow costume). There is a big difference between Scott Summers and most leading characters at Marvel: it's that apart from the quirk that makes it possible for him to be a superhero, he's an remarkably regular guy. Unlike many, many of Marvel's original heroes, Scott is not a brilliant man. Oh, he's not an idiot either, but he's clearly not in the genius or near-genius category where you'd find Tony Stark, Reed Richards, Charles Xavier, Bruce Banner, Peter Parker, Hank McCoy, Kitty Pryde, or T'Challa. Heck, I doubt he'd ever have considered becoming a doctor or a lawyer like Dr. Strange, Don Blake or Matt Murdoch. Scott had to study hard to get anywhere, and he did; never the best of scholars at Xavier's school, he still got through it by working the old fashioned way. More Archie Andrews than Dilton Doiley, if Archie had studied at all. Scott is not a natural athlete, nor did his his power give him great strength. He's not a Logan, a T'Challa, a post-serum Steve Rogers, a post-bite Peter Parker, a Peter Rasputin, or even a Matt Murdoch (whose dad was a professional boxer, and who likely inherited some good genetics). Scott wasn't raised in Kun-Lun or in a Honan retreat on a daily diet of martial arts; whatever athletic or fighting ability he has, he had to gain by doing push-ups and studying judo. Scott was not particularly handsome as a teen (although writers have written him as somehow irresistible to women in more recent years). While everybody was fainting around Warren's good looks, fawning over Tony Stark, falling for Matt Murdoch's face, Scott was secretly pining for the first girl he met and not attracting too much attention. Any assurance he has now was built over plenty of rejections, I'm sure. Nowadays Cyclops has become an important character in the Marvel Universe, something he wasn't for sixty-odd years. And he did it all the old-fashioned way, by working at it. And that's why I think he's so cool: he earned everything the hard way.

Number 27 - The Angel Alter Ego - Warren Kenneth Worthington III Team Affiliations - X-Men, X-Force, The Defenders, Secret Defenders, and so many others it's was incredibly ridiculous to see him on so many teams. Created by - Stan Lee Illustrated by - Jack Kirby Abilities Flight, Enhanced strength, Aerial adaptation, and Peak physical attributes Interesting Fact - At first, Warren feels he is a freak, but he soon learns that he can use his wings to fly and to help people. When there is a fire in his dormitory, he borrows some props from the school's drama department, dresses up as a heavenly angel, and rescues his friends. He soon learns that he is in fact a mutant. He dons a mask and costume, calls himself the Avenging Angel, and becomes a solo adventurer, before being recruited by Professor Charles Xavier into joining the X-Men. Familiarity Rating - 10, as Archangel a big fat Zero. One of the stupidest idea that came out of Marvel Comics and I did not care for him being Archangel at all. Reason for Rank: One of the unusual members of the X-Men and his mutant ability to have wings as the part of his body captured my imagination and therefore I was drawn to him literally and because of that I wanted to find out more about him. Angel would make my top 5 Marvel heroes. Yes, you may all proceed to laugh as you wish.

Note to EveryoneFrom Number 24 to Number 1 - I'm dropping out the Familiarity Rating out of the picture because every single one of these heroes that I'm quite familiar with and it's took exactly one half out of 50 of my Favorite Superheroes from Marvel to inform everyone of you of my understanding of that character from this point on. Every Single one of them is a 10, and I took a good 10-15 minutes looking at the remainder of the list to determine that the Familiarity Rating is a useless piece of information. So, I'm going to do Number 24 next and do the rest tomorrow from this point on. Thanks Members and Guests!

Number 24 - HawkeyeAlter Ego - Clinton Francis "Clint" Barton Team Affiliations - Avengers Family and The Defenders as well. Created by - Stan Lee Illustrated by - Don Heck AbilitiesGrandmaster archer, Uses a variety of trick arrows, Superb athlete, Exceptional arm strength, Enhanced eye-sight, Master martial artist, tactician, acrobat, marksman, and swordsman, and Experienced pilot Interesting Fact - Clint adapted his archery skills to become a star carnival attraction, a master archer called "Hawkeye", otherwise known as “The World’s Greatest Marksman”. He spent some time as a member of Tiboldt's Circus, before joining the Coney Island Circus. He witnessed Iron Man in action and was inspired to become a costumed hero. Interesting Fact 2 - As Goliath: Size and mass manipulation, and Superhuman strength and durability. This is one of the worst ideas that came out of Marvel Comics Camp because it's confuses many people back home of the many problems associating with him as Goliath and Hank Pym's being Giant Man. Therefore, I do not want to discuss this even further.
Interesting Fact 3 - Returning to work for Cross Technological Enterprises as Head of Security, Hawkeye meets the former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Barbara "Bobbi" Morse, also known as the hero Mockingbird. And, later married her. Hawkeye and Mockingbird pictured here. Reason for Rank: As Hawkeye, one of the most steadfast and troubled Avengers and yet proved himself time and time again. I like his aggressiveness as a hero and most of all he's one of the most capable in combat. Resourceful and Savvy too.

I really hope Captain Ultra makes it. *crosses fingers* I am too. Unlike the characters mentioned so far, I'd buy a comic book starring him.

Honorable Mention - Captain UltraAlter Ego - Griffin Gogol Team Affiliations - The Defenders (only this team) Created by - Roy Thomas, George Pérez and Joe Sinnott. Illustrated by - Various Artists AbilitiesFlight, Superhuman strength, durability, reflexes, and endurance, X-ray Vision, Intangibility Super breath, and Tap his "ultra potential" as well. Interesting Fact - Gogol became the superhero Captain Ultra; however, it is revealed he suffers from severe pyrophobia (fear of fire). Interesting Fact 2 - He eventually overcomes his pathological fear of fire thanks to years of extensive therapy under the super-powered psychiatrist, Doc Samson. Familiarity Rating - 5 (Honest Evaluation Here) Reason for Rank: The problem with doing this exercise is that there are so many Superheroes in both DC Comics and Marvel Universes sometimes it's takes some members here like Trebor the Unconquered and Action Ace to remind you of someone that I missed. So, having seen them post today regarding Captain Ultra - He reminded me of Martian (in a superlative way) Manhunter who have the same affinity as Captain Ultra the problems with Fire. So, I do remember him and I would ranked him Number 44 in my countdown and bump off Puck of Alpha Flight and place him underneath Guardian at Number 43.Captain Ultra in Action

Important AnnouncementTrebor the Unconquered and Action Ace reminded me of Captain Ultra today and I made a change of my Ranking today. Guardian at Number 43Captain Ultra at Number 44Aurora of Alpha Flight at Number 45Northstar at Number 46 Yellow Jacket at Number 47 Shaman at Number 48 Vindicator at Number 49 Snowbird at Number 50 Puck would have been bumped off the Number 50 for good. And, made another change to my Countdown having two Marvel Superheroes to have their position swapped out. These two are in the top 4 in my Countdown.

Number 23 - Invisible WomanAlter Ego - Susan "Sue" Storm Richards Team Affiliations - The Fantastic Four, briefly with the Avengers. Created by - Stan Lee Illustrated by - Jack Kirby AbilitiesInvisibility, Projected invisibility Invisible force field projection (which bestows the ability to generate protective invisible shields and invisible energy constructs as well as the power to control and manipulate objects) Interesting Fact - Brother of Johnny Storm (Human Torch) and Wife of Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic). Interesting Fact 2 - Stan Lee's original 2-page plot summary for the first issue of The Fantastic Four, reprinted in the Marvel Masterworks edition of the first ten issues, handled Susan's powers similarly to the Universal Pictures's "Invisible" series, which required her to take off her clothes, but noting concern that that might be "too sexy" for a comic book. Reason for Rank: One of the most capable heroines around and proven leader and second in command in the Fantastic Four. Resourceful, Intelligence, Think fast on her feet, and most of all became more and more confidence in her abilities and therefore became one of the most assertive female superhero in Marvel Universe.

Number 22 - IcemanAlter Ego - Robert "Bobby" Drake Team Affiliations - X Family, The Defenders, Secret Defenders Created by - Stan Lee Illustrated by - Jack Kirby AbilitiesThermokinesis, Cryokinesis, Hydrokinesis Molecular moisture inversion and conversion Thermal vision, Augmented strength and durability (Ice form) Interesting Fact - After the Defenders disband, Drake embarks on his career as an accountant. Reason for Rank: He is a founding member of the X-Men. A mutant, Iceman has the ability of cryokinesis where he can freeze anything around him and can also turn his body into ice. Of which, makes him an unique superhero of his own rights and is a team player whenever he goes and that's makes him a favorite of mine.
