I could see them giving him a costume for outside the water, but I never liked the looks of the blue-scale suit. But it does make a kind of sense (the superhero kind) that he would have to wear something out of the water just as surface-dwellers have to wear something when they go under water for any length of time. Does the blue costume help Namor stay hydrated, the way Aquaman's does not? That would be a logical in-universe rationale. I wonder if the costume goes squish-squish when Namor walks in it...
Yes, it's like that Bobby Darin song, Squish, Squish, I was Takin' a Pish .

Equal time rule so Which One of Aquaman's swim suits do you prefer? The Gold and Green with scales or the Blue and White Wave Camouflage?
Both are stunning when drawn correctly and I can see how useful the blue/white camo onesie would be on secret missions. But to me the Gold Scaled Green has more tones of Royalty which has been amply shown with upgrades and armor tweaks over the more recent years. Long live the King of the Sea! Even if he may smell like a can of tuna on dry land...

I didn't even know there was a blue and white suit; I had to google it. So, gold and green, especially as rendered by Ramona Fradon or Jim Aparo.

This one hurts a bit...but I can't possibly vote against the original orange and green so that's my choice. It's such a great color scheme and he always stood out with that look. Whether he was written as a truly regal and mighty underwater hero, or an underpowered self-conscious land hero in the Justice League at times, one thing was consistent...he always looked GOOD in that classic outfit. However...that aqua "camo" was a killer design and I loved that series when it came out. For me it's like the particularly awesome looking alternate jersey for a sports team...you don't want them to break tradition permanently, but when they break it out you love it. Here's the visual for anyone else who doesn't remember it: One other slight twist on the old orange suit I love...the Golden Age Aquaman had yellow gloves. When he's not taking down the bad guys, he's ready to wash the dishes!

Okay, maybe technically it's supposed to be gold and green, but come on, the classic look is best described as orange and green. And yeah, as nice-looking as the redesigned blue wavy suit in the 1980s was, it's orange and green all the way.

the Blue and White Wave Camouflage. I've always disliked the look of the original orange and green Aquaman.

Same dilemma as with Namor: I don't think anything can replace the "accepted" orange and green look, but that blue wave suit was a really pretty-looking redesign.
Did it last long? I only remember ever seeing it in a house ad of that cover!

They're both fine. Orange and green doesn't really say underwater to me. But that iteration has to be easier to draw than the blue one.

I dig the classic orange and green, but also really liked the 90s version:

I dig the classic orange and green, but also really liked the 90s version: I really want to know what was Peter David's inspiration for giving Arthur a harpoon hand. Tried asking him on Facebook but he said that he couldn't recall

That is not a harpoon. It's a combination nose/back/butt picker!
More than likely it was a response to many of the "jokes" over the years about the 1 hour limitation fish out of water remarks many were making. King of the Seven Seas a wimp? Give him a harpoon hand. That says bad ass don't piss him off visually and makes an instant statement.
Besides, harpoon hand wins over ankle wings!

Ball-scratcher, perhaps, if the illustration is anything to go by.
