He said, "You rock so naturally!" I said, "Now that you've learned to deal, Let me tell you why I'm so for real. I'm Cozmo D from outer space. I came to rock the human race!"

There's lots of newer stuff I'm just not going to know I think, nor even have heard of the artist. At one time people listened to a few radio stations and heard some of everything. Then things started to specialize and fragment. I kind of miss back when you generally got the very best of all sorts of music.
Here's one for us oldsters (although I heard this when I was really little)... name the song title and artist...
They say you don't tug on Superman's cape, you don't spit into the wind, you don't pull the mask off that old Lone Ranger, and...
Bonus points: There's another song by this same early '70s artist with the name Superman also in the lyrics.

P..S. My earlier song was “Jam On It,” an early 80s rap song by Newcleus. Next one is more recent:
I took a bus to the lake Saw the monument face Yellow tights, golden eyes Red and white, read and wise

Jim Croce-You Don't Mess Around with Jim... not sure of the bonus question though...but I can tell you which song he mentions King Kong in -M Yes. I never get tired of Jim Croce (with Maury Muehleisen, or earlier with his wife Ingrid) and always remembered an animated 'video' from I think the Sonny & Cher tv show of Bad Bad Leroy Brown (who was badder than King Kong). I'll leave the bonus question out there in case anyone into album tracks remembers it. I did hear the Sufjan Stevens song rberman, on one of his state-themed CDs, but I couldn't give the title off the top of my head.

It is indeed Sufjan Stevens' song "The Man of Metropolis Steals Our Hearts" from his album "Come on, Feel the Illinoise!" The album cover originally contained a prominent but unlicensed appearance of Superman which he was obliged to remove on subsequent printings. Next song: If I go crazy, then Will you still call me Superman?
If I'm alive and well, Will you be there and holding my hand?

Yep! That's it. I wonder if anyone knows this one:
With my freeze ray, I will stop the pain It's not a death ray or an ice beam; That's all Johnny Snow. I just think you need time to know That I'm the guy to make it real, The feelings you don't dare to feel. I'll bend the world to our will. And we'll make time stand still.

The other Jim Croce song to sort of reference Superman (I remembered it that way anyway) was titled Lover's Cross. So I'll hope that you can find another who will take what I could not, he'd have to be a Superguy or maybe a Super God.Beautiful song musically with amazing guitar interplay, but maybe a bit unfair thanks to my memory. There was a song in the '60s titled Super Girl by Canadian (Ottawa) group The Staccatos (later The Five Man Electrical Band) that I imagined could've made a great TV show theme. I tried to find a video upload of it but couldn't. I have the single... don't think it was released in the U.S. though they recorded it in L.A. at Capitol tower.

(and a later verse from the same song)
I wanna be like Jesus Christ Keep the party movin' givin' good advice I don't need to be no Superman I just wanna do the best I can

I'm old enough to have been a fan of the Five Man Electrical Band from childhood - they had lots of major hits on Canadian radio in the early 70s - but never heard, or at least don't recall hearing, any Staccatos until youtube, etc, came along. Of course XTC also had a great Supergirl song.
