Ok, I've read through the whole thread, and my question is, exactly how obscure are we allowed to get in terms of artists or songs? I've got some songs with nerdy comic book references in mind, but like I said, they're fairly obscure to the average music scene.

Obscure is fine by me. How else will I learn new songs?

Obscure is fine by me. How else will I learn new songs? OK. Here's one...This may not be as obscure as I think... and knowing her penchant for obscure stuff, I'm betting that beccabear67 could probably guess it easily.
And no, it's not from one of those Power record/book packs either. In fact, I discovered it on a 45 rpm single several years back. Also, one of my bands covers this song with yours truly singing the lead vocal, not that that means anything (we haven't recorded our cover version at this point).
Here's the first verse:
"Poor Bruce Banner Was Working In His Laboratory When He Saw Rick Jones About To Go Up In A Blaze Of Glory Well He Saved The Boy But What A Change The Explosion Made Him So Strange For His Molecules Have Been Rearranged Into The Hulk! The Hulk!"

OK, no bites yet, so here's the next verse: "The Hulk Is A Monster That's Ugly, Oversized And Green His Strength Is Fantastic And His Deposition's Mighty Mean And Whenever People See Him All They Do Is Run And Scream"And as another hint, here's the top of the 45rpm picture sleeve, with the catalog number...

No idea. Very descriptive, though!

I'll wait until Sunday evening for the reveal, to give others more time. There's actually a bit of a story behind this record. I'm still hoping that beccabear67 will chime in.

Yes, I know that record well... Nobody Loves The Hulk by The Traits, a garage classic!

Next song, since nobody else posted one:
Look out your window I can see his light If we can sparkle He may land tonight Don't tell your poppa Or he'll get us locked up in fright

Next song, since nobody else posted one: Look out your window I can see his light If we can sparkle He may land tonight Don't tell your poppa Or he'll get us locked up in fright "There's a Starman, waiting in the sky, he'd really like to meet us but he thinks he'd blow our minds."
I think I might know a David Bowie lyric even if I hadn't heard the song. I find him very distinctive somehow even though people say he learned things from Ray Davies and others. I think of song lyrics for this but then forget them again. This might be pretty easy... title is of a very well known hero, although maybe more appropriate to one of his more famous bad periods... Has he lost his mind? Can he see or is he blind? Can he walk at all Or if he moves will he fall?

Try this one, about a famous fantasy character...
There's death from the beginning to the end of time And I'm the cosmic champion and I hold a mystic sign And the whole world's dying and the burdens mine And the black sword keeps on killing…

I can't place the song, but it sounds like it must be referring to {Spoiler: Click to show} Elric
So I will guess that it's {Spoiler: Click to show} Hawkwind, since I know Moorcock wrote some stuff for them.

Black Sabbath's Iron Man. Yes, but this later cover by Swedish combo The Cardigans is also definitely worth a spin...
