Thought this could be an interesting topic, post covers where the title character(s) of the book is nowhere to be seen (no, Corner boxes dont count). I'll start with this amusing one:

Here's a whole issue where they don't appear at all.

^^^ Lol, very funny Prince Hal . Yes, back then (by that you know I mean the Silver Age and/or the 1960s, folks!) typically the comic's star had to be on the cover--well for Marvel or DC anyway--and this could include simulacra such as a Spidey mask, the bat-signal, or as with Batman #183, the familiar costume but worn by someone else...sometimes it was even just the suggestion of the famous costume (see those Weisinger comics with baby Kal-El on Krypton wearing cute little toddler clothes that just happened to be red and blue). So given that practice, I remember being very surprised by these two covers! FF #72 on sale in Dec. 1967, we get FF #74 a couple of months later in Feb. '68 ...to prepare us, I guess, for the Surfer's own comic in May 1968.

Most cool, Farrar !! To which I will add this cover, where Julius Schwartz (I'm guessing) is willing to take a bit of a risk, but not as big a one as Stan did:

We had a cover contest with this subject in the CBR. We Can get Some mileage with this thread. Good choice.

All kinds of old '40s Daredevil comics with the Little Wise Guys and no Daredevil at all.
