Charlton's The Thing may be unique in that he (it?) never appeared on the cover and as far as I can tell never appeared inside the book either despite hosting it, simply providing a text intro and outro signed "The Thing." Similarly, Stanley Morse's Mister Mystery only made a couple of cover appearances, not including the little bubble with his image. And sometimes, even that was absent.  |

Just look at any Action Comics cover. Captain Action doesn't appear on any of them.
